School Districts Refusing To Show Obama Speech To Students

The public outrage and indignation is heating up over Barack Obama’s planned national address to schoolchildren on Sept. 8.

The protests forced the White House to withdraw its suggestion that schoolchildren write essays about helping Obama after they view his address.

But the decision is too little too late. Some school systems are refusing to show Obama’s address to their students next week. This action is being taken in response to a flood of phone calls and angry emails from parents.

Most of us don’t have a problem with Obama’s 15-20 minute address to the children, but it is the accompanying literature that conservatives and Republicans criticize as appearing to encourage student support for Obama. The accompanying “educational materials” do lend an Orwellian tone to the address.

As usual, Obama brought all of this drama upon himself. Everything would have been fine if Obama just gave a positive speech encouraging the kiddies to stay in school — and then let them get back to their class work.

But nothing is ever that cut & dry with the former community organizer.

Obama’s egocentricity and narcissism allows him to live a life unfettered by simplicity. Like other dictators-in-training, Obama feels the need to be worshipped and revered. The prevailing perception is if Obama can’t exert mind control over most Americans then he’ll go after their toddlers and pre-teens.

Slain Student Dreamed Of Attending Spelman College

First and foremost, I want to send a big thank you to all the AUC and Spelman students and my loyal readers who sent in pics of Jasmine Lynn.

From AJC.com:

Jasmine Lynn loved school so much, her mother said, it was hard to believe she died not far from the university she had dreamed of going to since seventh grade.

She was 802 miles away from her home in Kansas City, Mo., the first in her family to go to college.

Now just two weeks into her sophomore year, police said, she was killed early Thursday walking near Spelman College.

“I never in a million years would’ve thought she’d be killed at school,” said her mother, Constance Franklin.

The 19-year-old psychology major was struck by a stray bullet, the victim of the kind of senseless violence she might have healed some day.

She came to Atlanta to make her family proud.

“She had a big heart,” said her grandmother Carolyn Williams. “She loved people, and people loved her.”

Thursday her Kansas City home was filled with friends and family trading stories about Jasmine — how much she loved school, adored her grandmother and hated polka dots.

In the 24 hours since Jasmine was slain, Franklin and Williams have not been alone. Read more…

Ghetto ‘Housewife’ vs. Ghetto Hood Rat

As I told you before, I’m allergic to ghetto. So I ignored the email last night when a loyal reader sent me the first in a series of nignorant tweets between ghetto ‘housewife’ Kim Zolciak accusing ghetto hood rat Neffe (of BET’s Frankie & Neffe) of posting her personal numbers on the social networking site Twitter.com.

But this morning I awoke to find my In box jammed with this nonsense. I have no further comment as the nignorance speaks for itself.

Michael Jackson Laid To Rest

The King of Pop, Michael Jackson, was finally laid to rest last night more than two months after he died at age 50 of an apparent cardiac arrest on June 25th. Jackson was interred in a crypt alongside Hollywood legends such as Clark Gable, Marilyn Monroe, David Carradine, Sammy Davis Jr., and others following a private sunset ceremony at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.

The guests were limited to family members and close friends, including Berry Gordy, who signed 10-year-old Michael and his brothers to a recording contract in the late 60s, and Gladys Knight, who discovered the Jackson 5. Knight sang “His Eye Is On The Sparrow” at the ceremony.

Others attending the funeral included Michael’s friends music producers Quincy Jones and Teddy Riley, actors McCauley Culkin, Elizabeth Taylor, Corey Feldman, Clifton Davis (who sang the Jackson 5 hit “Never Can Say Goodbye” — a song he wrote); actress LisaRaye, comedian Chris Tucker, industry veteran Suzanne de Passe, the Jackson 5′s road manager and mentor; Lisa Marie Presley, one of Jackson’s former wives, the Rev. Al Sharpton, and others. Jackson’s longtime friend Diana Ross did not attend.

Michael’s brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon, Randy, and the two boys Michael raised as his own — Prince Michael I and Michael II., all wore black suits with red ties, black arm bands and a single white sequined glove. The funeral was delayed over two months due to a rift between Michael’s mother Katherine and his brother Jermaine over the final burial plans.

Vigil Tonight For Slain Spelman Student

One man is in custody in connection with the shooting death of 19-year-old Spelman student Jasmine Lynn who was struck in the chest by a stray bullet as she returned to her dorm last night.

A memorial for Jasmine Lynn is scheduled for 8 p.m. in front of Spelman’s main gate on Westview Drive. The memorial is being organized by students, not the college, a campus spokeswoman said.

Lynn, of Kansas City, Mo., was walking south on James P. Brawley Drive around 12:30 a.m. when a fight broke out among a group of men on the corner of Mitchell Street and James P. Brawley Drive.

A friend who was walking with Lynn saw the altercation and the gun and she warned Lynn to take cover, but it was too late. Police questioned one man at Grady hospital who was chased, tackled and stomped by bystanders who were tired of the senseless violence.

But police say the gunman got away.

Danays Marquez, a Morris Brown College freshman from Miami, said she heard 5 gunshots and saw Lynn fall to the ground. “She was drenched in blood and it looked like she was taking her last breath,” said Marquez.

Jerome Jones, an 18-year-old student from Clark Atlanta, was struck in the wrist by a stray bullet. He was treated at Grady Memorial and released.

Loneia Powell, a 20-year-old Clark Atlanta junior from Columbus, said it’s not unusual to hear gunshots near the campus.

“Look at the area we’re near,” she said. “It happens all the time.”

DISSED: Oprah Bitch Slaps Chris Brown

Now we know why the Queen of Talk, Oprah Winfrey didn’t get the first exclusive interview with woman beater Chris Brown since his arrest in February on assault charges.

According to TMZ.com:

People magazine asked Brown about the fact that Oprah did “a show on abuse, inspired by Rihanna.” Chris replied:

“I commend Oprah on being like, ‘This is a problem,’ but it was a slap in my face. I did a lot of stuff for her, like going to Africa and performing for her school. She could have been more helpful, like, ‘Okay, I’m going to help both of these people out.’”

TMZ called Oprah for a comment, and Oprah’s rep sent TMZ the following response:

“Oprah is very appreciative that Chris Brown performed at her school but she takes domestic abuse very seriously. She hopes he gets the counseling he needs.”

Ouch! That was harsh.

Sheree is a real designer, she doesn’t just play one on tv

TV personality and self-professed fashion designer Sheree Whitfield will silence all critics when she debuts her much-maligned clothing line, She By Sheree, at Fashion Week in NYC. Sheree promises that her pieces will not come straight off a Macy’s rack as was alleged by industry insiders who should know.

She By Sheree will debut its “form fitting, powerful and international, sexy chic” collection on September 13 for the fashion conscious woman. The cameras will be rolling for an episode of RHOA. I’m sure I’ll be getting an email any day now accusing Sheree of ripping off some other designer’s designs.

Shout out to Mychal Knight!
