BET 2009 Hip Hop Awards Freestyle Cypher: Nicki Minaj, Joe Budden, Eminem, KRS 1
Lady Scoop at Project Scoop says the cypher freestyles were the best part of the 2009 Hip Hop Awards. Yeah, they were nice but the freestyle is the raw essence of Hip Hop and these kids don’t know what a freestyle is.
Especially that Hydrogel injected fraud Nicki Minaj. I know her rhymes were pre-written. Who is she fooling? KRS and Joe Budden were the best in my opinion.

I refused to watch the BET awards last night, but just took a look at the clips. KRS killed it…but I did like Nicki even though that was no freestyle.
I fell asleep after I saw Kid n Play. I almost lost it. The excitement wore me out. LOL

Our damn AT&T had our tv froze for more than half of the show so I didn’t even see it. Can’t give me .02 on the freestyles but a lot of people say Em killed it. I wonder if it’s his flow or his actual lyrics because they say that on the song with him,Kanye,Wayne, and Drake and I think Drake’s lyrics were tighter but Em’s flow was.

I love freestyle rapping. I remember when Ja Rule (when he was still a nobody in that group he was in) use to always come around the way and freestyle.

Mos Def, and Black Thought are definitely slept on. Joe Budden is hot. I can’t stand Eminem. IMO, he has a decent flow, but I can’t get into his lyrics. Maybe because I can’t stand him.
I like Nikki, but I can’t take listening to her voice for a long time.

I was really surprised at the girl who did danced to the black man’s hip hop routine to the Missy song(forgot her partner too but he’s good). She WORKED IT OUT. That girl who was in the bottom with Ariana was a hot mess. She should’ve left. Bianca did really well. I didn’t see the Maxwell looking dude performance or the other hip hop dude.

I also liked Sonia’s piece and the non Tabitha and Napolean hip hop piece (the other dudes). That’s right, that girl danced with Legacy. I REALLY don’t like him.

He disrespected a lot of females this season while slobbering comments to those Afroborike women who looked average AT BEST. He kicked off the best team (Rhythm City) and kept bonk ass Massive Monkeys while his flunky Lil Moma followed suit. Sorry, for the short vent but he lost me as a fan and I LOVED him.
I think both Tyce and Mandy Moore gives Mia a run for her money with the choreo. Their contemporary routines be ON POINT too.

i liked Massive Monkeys and i did think Shane was a little to sexually explicit for me also.He has always been like that i guess since this season had more females you see it more.Also when Artistry in Motion was in the bottom with Afroborike he called them(afroborike) the sexiest girls on the show i was like no this dude didn’t just say that with a whole group of other girls on stage .
I like Mandy Moore and Tyce he made me cry last season(Ade and Melissa routine crazy) but i love Mia even more i’m sorry.
missy – EXACTLY regarding Shane. I was done when he had all of those ladies (sistas mostly) on the stage and he’s going to say that the Afroborike girls are the hottest girls he’s ever had on the show…WITH THEM STANDING RIGHT THERE!!! I was STEAMING.
You’re right, he’s always been into the booty popping and all of that but this season it was like times 10. He got criticism everywhere I saw (MTV, twitter, etc.) for his actions this season from kicking off the wrong groups to his comments.
Now I LOVE Mia too but I think when she’s gone next year that Mandy and Tyce will still hold it down.

@ Daisy yeah Lauren went crazy and I do hope she can recover but Mos just release another album, so did the roots in 08 and their always touring, common also just released. So they are there but how many people buy them? I got common’s I need to def cop the other two after I have a listen….

Afroborike did have some nice routines at time but Daisy, come on, even when their chit was dreadful he still found a reason to praise them. I didn’t like that.
@kc – We Are Heroes winning this season was the WORSE thing EVER!! They were in the bottom 2 like 4 times and most of the time rightfully so. This season was just jacked up.

Now you may think that Em is a better lyricist than all of them but on that song I think people be like Em killed it MOSTLY because of his delivery.
I’ve listened to Drake AFTER listening to the Best I Ever Had song (which irked the hell outta me because it was played so much) and dude has some nice witty lyrics. I don’t understand why people say he’s soft or he’s faking. I don’t hear him talking about anything crazy. He’s Jimmy from Degrassi. Everyone knows that so what does one expect him to rap about?
