Lil Wayne Pleads Guilty; Gets 12 Months

It looks like Tiffany Evans’ words are ringing true: the evil within the music industry is being exorcised.

It was just yesterday that we asked the question, “what if Lil Wayne does go to jail?” As it turns out, Lil Wayne is being measured for his prison jumpsuit as I type this.

According to the AJC, the rapper, real name Dwayne Carter, pleaded guilty in a NY courtroom today to felony gun possession charges. He has agreed to a one-year prison sentence. The rapper had faced a minimum 3-year sentence on the charge.

Wayne was in court yesterday to hear DNA evidence that would tie him to a gun that was found onboard his tour bus in 2007.

When the judge warned Wayne that he would not be able to withdraw the plea as some people try to do, the somber rapper said, “I’m not one of those people.”

Wayne also faces felony drug possession and weapons charges in Arizona stemming from an arrest last year. Those charges carry a maximum 15-year sentence. He has pleaded not guilty in that case

Carter will remain free on bond while he awaits his sentencing in February 2010.

What is this?? Do you have to do time in order to become a certified rapper these days? I wish money could buy class sometimes!

  2. 2

toya was going off on somebody on twitter. “i hate fake *** when *** all good everybody around but when u down no 1 wants to be around. pray for wayne yall”

anyway that guy on “behind the music” said the gun was his

Is this is way of earning street cred? Now his kids are fatherless while he is locked up. Wait a min they were fatherless while on the street as well. Women are so stupid these days. Next all his baby mama’s will have a reality show trying to earn money while he’s locked up.

One gun on Lil Wayne’s tour bus = 1 year
    versus
    Small arsenal in a Walgreens lot for T.I = 1 year…..huh

Rappers better get T.I’s lawyers number on speed dial.

Also, does all of this “evil in music” and the same hate you spew at Wayne go for T.I too? What is the difference between the 2 other than a few dozen guns? Did it start with his sentencing?

They’re all idiots for not leaving the guns to their security detail.

I thought on his behind the music his manager or someone said Wayne never owned a gun a day in his life and that it was their gun. They made it seem the police didn’t know who he was and falsely arrested him.

Either he is covering for someone, they are trapping him or he lied.

I’m not going to EVEN JOKE about another brutha going to JAIL

I JUST HOPE he doesn’t do anything remotely Criminal-OR-Stupid before his sentencing in February 2010 … Get your affairs in order and START YOUR Soul-Searching NOW !!!

And in all seriousness — GOOD LUCK Homie !!!!!

I’ve heard lj that it wasn’t his gun either. The dummy probably held it and that was all they needed. They’d rather get him convicted than someone in his entourage.

I don’t think this has anything to do with street cred or being a certified rapper. He’s already considered the best in the game by some, and I’ve always heard that he tries to avoid drama and beef (one of the few things I like about the troll).

Toya already has a show and I’m thinking Lauren and Nivea doesn’t need a reality show (I keep hearing Nivea has some money from other projects and writing so good for her). So who else, the unknown baby mama…doubt she’ll have a show. I’m sure his people will make sure his kids are taken care of.

    @ shauny:

As I painstakingly explained in my numerous posts on this subject: T.I. was a gun enthusiast who was collecting guns as a hobby. Same as my brother who at the age of 18 also owned an arsenal of weapons because he loved guns. There is a big difference between a gun collector and someone who owns a gun for criminal activity. Know the difference, sweetie. :coffee:

I didn’t believe that the gun wasn’t his even when the guy on behind the music said it. I hope Wayne is doing this because it is the right thing to do – not for additional fame, potential street cred., or any other reason. I hope everything works out for the best.

  16. 16

Also since when does Wayne of all ppl need street cred and I didn’t know rappers still banked on that with all the no having street cred rappers n the game now

SR nothing TI has stated eluded to your statement on several occasions, he mentioned protection, the night of Phil’s murder etc as factors in his decision to purchase artillery. He should not get a pass. Silencers … aren’t collected by “enthusiast”

I love you … but this Ti gets a pass ish gets on my last NERVES. Why don’t you analyze him and his cheating ways and verbal abuse to Tiny? YOU NEVER go IN on that … why?

But you will call Jay, Puff and so many other out. TI promise you some exclusive that you don’t want to give up, he deserves the same authentic SR all other entertainers get.

Doubt prison will cleanse him of his daily drugs. Inmates get drugs faster than a person on the street and being someone of his status I am sure the guards are already ready to set up the play to sneak it in and get paid or at least an autograph one :)

Thanks Daisy … I knew he said it somewhere, besides in his music. Like Isaid earlier, I will play nice when Tiny is here but I do have my one question on the amount of abuse and the real reason she has put up with his cheating behavior and ways.

    @Sandra

you can painstakingly explain your view as many times as you’d like but did you look at ANY interview T.I did? HE said that after his best friend was killed HE became paranoid in trying to protect his family because he thought they were coming for him and HE felt he needed to prepare to defend himself.

Doesn’t sound like a “gun enthusiast ILLEGAL purchase of firearms to me but whatever way you want to justify the diffence if cool, sweetie.

Since when is high powered illegal guns with infer-reds o.k even if you are a “gun enthusiast”.

    @SandraRose

Auntie TI himself said he was purchasing the guns as protection due to his friend recently being killed and all the death threats he received. I don’t boycott any artist except that nasty Kels. I can thoroughly enjoy a Wayne, TIP or CB song. I have seen them all in concert & enjoyed each individually. HOWEVER you couldn’t catch me spending my heard earned tax dollars on any of them NOW. I can separate enjoying the music from believing whole heartedly in a PERSON. They are human and make mistakes, however when it comes to the GUNS both Wayne & TI deserve the time plus more in my opinion. Stricter laws should be in place for people in a higher tax bracket IMO. Is it me or should they just know better?

    iscream says:

Sorry to go :offtopic: but this broke my  & Sandra always calls out Single moms of BOYS.. Well read this. All kids need their dad.

    Tichina Arnold writes a blog

Tonight, for 20 minutes, I had to listen to Alijah cry herself to sleep to the chant of “I want my daddy!” These are the nights that I wish never existed, but unfortunately do! It’s the challenging and heartbreaking side of single mommyhood.
I’m getting sick of hearing MYSELF give her the same reply, “Ok baby, but daddy is not here, we will call him tomorrow. Now go to sleep”. I can see her little wheels in her head just turning as if she’s about to say: “You say that all the time; she has not said it yet but she is starting to figure out that (for now) daddy is NEVER going to be there when she wants or cries for him.

It’s just another single mommy issue that I have to deal with “head on” when the time comes…and it’s coming faster than I expected.

I’m realizing that unfortunately in due time…SHE’S going to have to face the reality that her dad is just not as available as she might like for him to be.

One of my first embarrassing wake up calls to being a single mom, was when I picked Alijah up from Pre-School one day, and the teacher said that Alijah held on to the leg of ANOTHER students dad and said “I want you to be my daddy!”.

he will have so much music out im sure we wont know he gone unfortunate he had to go down for that though i owul dnever go to NY with a gun and be a rapper they target them just for these type cases

@2beme – Who knows, he might like that :lick:

@Daisy – I enjoy TIP’s MUSIC – however I have seen taht vein on the side of his head, he to me has some serious anger/emotional issues – why in the world would HE need a GUN in his hands. I can spot a loose canon anywhere, sorry but he deserves more than that year and he should not be applauded because his friend died and he felt some FEAR, NO EXCUSE :warning:

Absolutely. The laws were made for all citizens, regardless of social status or wealth. This makes me mad actually, because someone close to me is serving a 9 year sentence for being at a relatives house where 3 guns were found – and they were hidden in the basement of the house, mind you. This person got that time just for being there. 3 years for each gun, no previous criminal history – just in the wrong place at the wrong time, with no fame or fortune like T.I and Wayne.

  43. 43
    Shauny says:

Oh Isc – that was some real talk about very sad.

When my daughter was in pre school she had her little BFF names Gracie. So I took her in the morning and her dad picked her up so Gracie knew she had both parents. My baby was like well Gracie gets sad sometimes when daddy comes to pick me up because she says that she doesn’t have a daddy. I told her that she could share my daddy. I was like AWWWWWWW. It was so cute but sad at the same time. I’m VERY fortunate for my kids to have a 2 parent household.

Daisy … yes the sitaution was terrible & heartbreaking. However, he is an intelligent man, why not go about the purchase of the weapons a different way? He is a CONVICTED FELON. The laws are in place for a reason and with the $$$ he claims to have, why not invest in better security and protection?

@KayCeiSoul – Thanks! That’s the point I want to hit home at, not to downplay his story. bottom line is he and wayne no better and have the $ to make better decisions.

D@mn at Tachina Arnold’s little girl.

We think we’re so independent when we have these kids because WE need someone to love… but really, seeking out single parenthood is one of the most selfish things a woman can do. I also think gay couples are selfish. YES I said it and mean it 100%.

For example, it pains me to see a woman, 35 years old, no husband, financially stable, and ready for a baby to complete “her” life. So she goes out and has one. “I can take care of the baby myself.” BS. She doesn’t even think about the parental UNIT that a child needs. I find this to be the utmost selfish act.
