Mario’s Album Flops (Aww, that’s too bad)

Last night during Monica’s live chat on my blog, I learned that singer Mario’s album that went on sale on Tuesday will flop with expected sales in the 20-25k range. Aw, that’s too bad. One of my readers attributed the flop to lack of promotion. She said she wasn’t aware the album was even coming out until it went on sale on Tuesday, lol.

Heads will roll in the marketing dept. at J Records after the final sales figures come out. I can understand why the label chose not to buy ad space on this blog. Especially since my readers outed their artist some time ago. But from a marketing standpoint, it was a miscalculation since Mario’s fans frequent this blog too. Why not put your artist in front of his fans wherever they may be?

Oh well. I’m still going to go out and buy Mario’s CD because we need to support our struggling R&B artists (except for Ash Trey Song, fukk him).

His people suck seriously. It’s like they have no interest in him succeeding. I’m going to buy his cd. I’ve always liked him, but he stole my heart after his little reality show with his mom.

people, in the sunday paper, they always tell you whats coming out tuesday whether it be cd or dvd.

check out walmart, target or bestbut every sunday and youll know who drops a cd that tuesday. i buy every tuesday if its something i like. besides if you get it between tuesday and saturday its usually the cheapest. after sunday hits, the price goes up.

pages thats still not promotion you can look and find when any cd comes out if you look but promo is seeing it at places you normally are but not necessarilly looking for it, ie radio commercials, tv commercials, blogs, billboards things of that nature and i just saw a tv commercial on bet like monday for the first time so thats a poor job or marketing

    I am soooo pissed at J Records…..

I didn’t know the CD was coming out until I went to Itunes and I bought it Tuesday. I like Mario and his documentary on MTV made me adore him. He is so underrated (Like my girl Tamia). He’s still so young. I hope he gets with a label that will market him. He has been out her grinding and doing shows so hopefully that helps.

    Bird says:

I certainly have nothing against Mario and am in fact a fan. Breakup was my favorite song of the moment until Latoya Luckett’s new joint came out. Still, I have never bought a Mario CD solely because he is forgetable when I am at the music store. I simply don’t think of him. He strattles the line between teenie bopper and grown man and I must say I like my R&B crooner full grown. I will try to remember to pick this one up.

    Sorry Mario.

back in the day it was cool when r/b mixed with rap at the bridge or whatever. it’s overkill now. i want r/b to be like it used to be and leave the rappers in their own arena, now that it’s mainstream and running on it’s own tank of gas. ‘obsessed’ came on and im bumpin it then suddenly jeezy or somebody come on at the bridge…stationed changed. phuck that. i dont wanna hear rappers on r/b songs any more. it’s nothing against jeezy or any other rapper but singers please get back to singing. you’ve carried these songs for decades without rappers, pleaes continue it.

record companies aren’t spending money on promotions like the past. they figure with so much social networking, the artist should carry the weight of getting their “fans” to buy their cds and come to the shows. a million followers mean nothing when only 50,000 will get out and buy your product or download your song. wtf are the other 950,000 doing?

too bad for mario. they want to put out lead out songs with these “hot for the minute” rappers. nah, artists should shoot for staying power, not for the moment songs.
