Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize, For What?

The world is expressing shock and surprise at the news that Barack Obama has won a Nobel Peace Prize. It seems the Nobel Prize has become as cheap and meaningless as a MTV Moon Man trophy: they’re giving them out to just anyone now.

The Times Online called the Nobel decision “absurd” and said it “makes a mockery of the Nobel peace prize.”

Instead the prize risks looking preposterous in its claims, patronizing in its intentions and demeaning in its attempt to build up a man who has barely begun his period in office, let alone achieved any tangible outcome for peace.

According to ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos, one White House aide scoffed at the news, saying “It’s not April 1, is it?”

The deadline for submitting candidates for a peace prize is February 1st. Meaning Barack Obama was nominated just 11 days after being in office. Ridiculous!

Here are just a few headlines gleaned from Drudegreport.com:

WHY WAS MY COMMENT ERASED? CONGRATS TO OBAMA. WHEN GOD HAVS FAVOR FOR YOU, THERE IS NO ONE OR NOTHING THAT CAN CHANGE IT.

“Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world’s attention and given its people hope for a better future,” the committee said. “His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world’s population.”

F*ck the head scratching world. How ’bout that?

President Obama is the first president in decades that has said he will sit down with our enemies rather than dismiss them out of hand because of cultural and ideological differances. Just sitting down with Iraq has netted progress. North Korea is becoming more cooperative. He fought all the way to the top job to make his vision a reality. Sure his haters are fighting him tooth and nail, but he keeps fighting for world cooperation if not peace. So hell yeah he deserves this. Again……

F*ck the haters. Do you Mr. President and congratulations!!!!!

Singing “Get that dirt off your shoulders”

I’m from Chicago and for the person that said he couldn’t bring peace to his own city…….is absurd. He did a lot for the underprivileged people in Chicago before running for any office! One man can’t change the damn world. We are all responsible for doing our part. We will always find the negative in something that should be positive and wonder why black folks can’t get ahead. SMDH!

*********************************************************** @ flyqtnva…..Let’s not make the assumption that he is the only person responsible for bringing peace to Chicago. Parents need to be involved, churchs, the elected officals in that area, community organizations, sororites and frats, all those people that make up the community are responsible. We have to take care of our own.

    PAHairston says:

Hello all. So true Shannon, so true, Obama didn’t ask for this prize yet the hate continues. By the way, he’s only the 3rd President to receive this prestigious award and Obama receiving it does not deminish it’s value, just adds to it. THE WORLD LOVES OBAMA and this is good cause when Bush was in office, the world hated America. LOVE MAKES the world go round, corny but true.
