Kanye West’s VMA Antics Kills Tour

Kanye West and Lady Gaga’s Fame Kills Tour is dead.
As was speculated, Kanye’s antics on the VMA’s all but assured a ton of unsold tickets to his shows. And that’s exactly what happened. The tour’s promoter, Live Nation, announced the cancellation today. Tickets already sold will be refunded at the point of purchase.
In a story on its blog, The Times noted that West and Gaga were set to play the Staples Center on Nov. 16 in Los Angeles.
Then concert dates started disappearing from Ticketmaster.com prompting rumors that the tour was canceled. The Times speculated that “It’s unlikely an arena tour of this magnitude would be called off; it’s more likely that West and Lady Gaga are waiting for the controversy to die down.”
Kanye is not the first to cut up and act a fool in the VMA’s 25-year history, but the fallout from his publicity stunt was unprecedented. Many of Kanye’s peers in the industry came down on him hard, and even his mentor Jay Z said he was wrong.
But when the president of the United States calls you a jackass, that’s about as bad as it gets. No amount of damage control can undo the harm that Kanye has done to himself.

I may not be a cheerleader for today’s Hip Hop, but I like anything that T.I. puts out.

Lloyd Sets Record Straight On Ciara Comments

R&B crooner Lloyd wrote a post on his blog today addressing the “Hollywood b*tches” comment that he made about pseudo singer Ciara.
In his post Lloyd wrote, “I said what I said and I stand by it.” But he went on to say he spoke with Ciara yesterday for the first time in years and he explained his comments to her.
Lloyd never backed down from his opinion on Ciara’s attitude and stank personality. But he acknowledged that “sometimes family are the only ones that will tell you the truth. I’m sure I could have found a better way to tell her, but what’s done is done. We’re moving on.”
Good for him for not backing down. I wish more people in the industry were honest and forthright like Lloyd.
Nas & his ignorant letter will be discussed on CNN today

I just got off the phone with a producer from CNN/HLN who asked if I cared to discuss Nas’ ignorant letter to the savages in Chicago on CNN’s Headline News today.
She said I would join of panel of such distinguished guests as Jesse Jackson and others. And she asked If I would give my perspective on Nas’ ignorant letter from a Hip Hop perspective.
When she said I would be on camera in the studio, naturally I declined. The simple fact is I am not uniquely qualified to speak on the subject of Hip Hop. I certainly didn’t want to embarrass myself on national TV trying to sound like an expert on Hip Hop when I don’t even listen to the garbage on the radio anymore.
But I appreciate CNN/HLN reaching out to me today. It means I’m doing something right! The segment airs at 5:30 p.m. today on Headline News. Be sure to watch!
