So the rumors are true about Wale?

As some of you may know, the Soul Train Music Awards are set to tape in Atlanta tomorrow night at an undisclosed location.

That means the city is currently being overrun by music industry folks and celebs who have stories to tell to those who are willing to listen. And seeing as I am such a good listener (especially when industry folk are dropping juicy gossip) I was all ears this weekend!

Who knew that newcomer DC rapper Wale, whose CD Attention Deficit leaked this weekend, was on the down low?

This is what my credible source tells me. I’m told that Wale was able to navigate the industry maze so deftly because of his gay connections within the industry. “How do you think he was able to get top shelf artists such as Rihanna and Lady Gaga on his first album?,” one exec asked me over a plate of fried squid and crab cakes at dinner Sunday night.

The exec recounted tales of down low music industry A&R and a casting couch environment within the industry for rappers who are expected to turn tricks to get put on. The exec dropped names like Jim Jones and Jay Z, etc. He said that Wale sounding like Metrosexual rapper Kanye West is no accident.

“There’s a certain formula that works right now and [Wale] is sticking to it,” the exec told me, adding that Wale received Kanye’s blessing to bite his style.

He said it’s no secret that Wale is bisexual, which shocked me. Isn’t Beyonce’s sister Solange Knowles dating him, I asked.

“It wouldn’t be the first time that a heterosexual woman in the industry dated a bisexual man,” he responded.

By the way, if you didn’t get a chance to listen to Wale’s excellent CD, you should! Make sure you cop Attention Deficit when it drops on November 10!
