Rihanna’s New Album Sucks
I agree with the music critics who have widely panned Rihanna’s latest studio effort. It pains me to have to say this but, Rihanna’s new CD, Rated R, sucks. For some reason, Rihanna decided to go in an entirely different direction with this project. Bad idea. “I’m nothing without you”? Is she serious?
She comes off as someone desperate to be taken seriously as a rock musician or something. If you’re looking for confirmation of her walk on the dark side (Illuminati) it’s all there in the lyrics. The backing tracks are some of the most horrible I’ve ever heard. Does anyone know what good music sounds like anymore?

DB I aint sting I’ll share got a whole pan my tfriend/coworkers mother made and brougt. We all know errybody can’t make it but she CAN. This girl in the next office(on the healthier side) said oooh this made my knees go weak) I aint never heard that in relation to food.

Heavnsent no girl see I was just typing the same thought(red velvet is another one a lot of people can’t make) as you. My friends mother who is in her late sixties made it and she makes NOTHING from a box. She makes the pudding for me and her other specialty is fried corn. She just throws down period.
Now that’s what Im talkin bout!!!! I kills ‘em when I make the pudding, but it takes too long, so I only do it once a year or so.
Mama can’t bake so she mastered banana pudding and I do NOT eat it! Ppl pay her to make them. All my aunts can bake and 2 of them make a MEAN red velvet cake!!! My FAV! I will be eating some on turkey day!

Grits… made from corn, hominy is a good substitution. Can be made savory or sweet, eaten for any meal too… I used to hate them till I had Flying Biscuits creamy dreamy grits@ good lord Jesus, whole milk cream makes anything good though.

Gumbo is a mish mash soup wit okra and seafood mostly. I prefer west african okra soup though.

Red velvet cake it a buttermilk cake with cocoa flavoring and bright red coloring…best with cream chees frosting, the best i’ve ever had was from piece of cake… i meand it’s just amazing.
Collard greens are not like spinach they’re much tougher & have a bit of a bitter edge to them, think Kale or turnip greens.
I need to go pray & ask God for strength to avoid cake until thanksgiving.

I just learned to like grits….this year! And to set a good example for my daughter (cause I’m not much of a veggie eater) I’ve learned to LOVE greens. Chitlin’s….Ima keep it 100 & say I used to LOVE them….(my mama’s from the south)….but after many years of her cleanin’/cookin’ ‘em she said, “If you want them, you’ll have to clean them.” (I was about 12yrs old)…..and that was alllllllllllllllllllllll she wrote. Haven’t been much of a fan since.

Ummm…I might pass on that but I eat many other interesting animal parts so maybe it could be good. That peach cobbler sounds great though. And that red velvet cake. I’m a sucker for baked goods.

Licia, try all the vegetables now. I’ve found that as I get older the more I love them and actually the less I like meat. I don’t do sausage anymore or hotdogs. I can only tolerate minimal hamburger etc. I could eat a veggie plate with a yeast roll or cornbread or a biscuit and not miss chit.

I guess I’m in the minority on the chitterlings because I BANGS them on Thanksgiving and Christmas. I can’t wait! Honey baked ham, turkey wings (don’t like whole turkey), greens (mustard and turnip w/spinach), dressing from scratch, macaroni and cheese, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, apple pie, RED VELVET CAKE and PEACH COBBLER!! What else can I throw in there?

Hubby cleaned two buckets of chittlins last night while watching the Cavs game. He cleaned two last week and will clean two more this weekend. I love me some chitlins.
I also like my grits with without the cheese, the next day I cut them in squares and fry them and eat with hot sauce. I am mad I am ‘Tardy For The Party’. I had a prob with my work computer and had to delete some things and I did not have my pass word at work. I don’t want the boss to know what I do online and was afraid for the security of my computer. The boss messed his computer up trying to download something and had to pay a tech $240.
I am looking at a $3500 bonus at the end of the year and I don’t want to have any deducted to fix my work computer because of being on the web doing non work related things. LOL.

I wish that’s all I had to make. What about the green bean casurole, mashed potatoes and gravy, bow tie broccoli salad, spaghetti salad, dressing, fresh cranberry sauce with orange zest. The others you just have to set out or chop, veggie tray, cheese w/crackers and summer sausgae and shimp ****tail w/sauce. I saw on a cooking show a receipe for a black eye pea salad that I will add to my menu and also a spinach dip. I just made myself hungry and I just ate baked chicken. Hubby bakes the ham, cooks the chittlins(has anyone ever had fried chittlins’)? and bakes all the sweets. Hubby loves to bake Red Velvet Cake but I think this yr after reading the comments I will ask him to make the cupcakes with the creme cheese.
I must say I became a Rihanna fan after she took on the funky persona and her and Chris got together because they were cute as a button. I have never been a fan of her music as I am not into pop, but I must say I agree Sandra. Even if I am not a pop fan I know what good pop sounds like. She had good pop on her last album. This album seems to be full of throw away tracks. What do I know? Maybe her fans will like it, but in my humble opinion, Chris has her beat right now in terms of the music he’s doing.
@Anna I have a cousin who makes me red velvet cupcakes every yr for my b day. I never help my mama cook on turkey day the most I will do is peel the sweet pots and grate the cheese for her famous mac n cheese other than that I am a BUM on the couch! I am a picky eater overall (no greens, pork, peppers, onions, tomatos, dressing/stuffing) so my turkey day plate looks like a reg sun dinner plate the only extra things added are devil eggs and desserts!

I have a prob with a picky eater. I know kids who don’t know what drinking water is until they come to my house. I was a young parent and I think I was smart enough/blessed enough to intorduce my kids to different things. As my intentions became “aware” later in life my one kid now loves tomotes, onions and bell peppers raw with a dipping sauce. I do also make my deviled eggs but use a fat free ranch dressing in place of mayor and chop up crab meat. It is oh so good! I try to buy the eggs in the plastic cartons so I can clean it out and put the deviled eggs back in the cartoon. I mix everything together and put the cooked yokes, crab meat, onions, all my seasoings(mustard, a touch of salt and pepper) in a plastic sandwich/freezer bag and snip the end of the bag so it’s like a frosting pouch. I squeeze the bag to swirl in my deviled egg mix into the whites of the eggs. Then I sprinkel on Paprika for color and more flavor. It is alway a hit at any meal.

I’m with you. Praise God for my mama who made sure we had a well balanced, healthy diet from birth. I notice that my 5 year old is very mindful of what is healthy which actually scares me a little because she really tries to live by what I say when it comes to eating properly and I am not sure that is appropriate for a 5 year old. She has little friends come over and my fiance insists on feeding them and her friends never eat the veggies. Her current best friend comes from a house of obese women and I fear she is on her way as well.

Your family sounds like yall gets down like ours do. You know how everyone on your block cooks but everybodies kids still want to eat at only a couple of houses on the block…ours is one.
I had this discussion with my hubby a couple of days ago. My family has NEVER made mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving or Christmas. The first time I heard of people having it was when Bill Clinton was on tv one holiday saying what they were having at the White House. My hubby said his family did but I thought this was just a YT thing. Anyone else cooks mash potatoes as the norm on these holidays?
Whoever was talking about brussel sprouts, ladies they are not nasty. That recipe sounds good to be they are good just boiled down with butter and salt and pepper. My aunt tripped on my daughter we were visiting NY on my then 5 year old daughter b-day. My aunt asked her what she wanted for her birthday dinner. She said Brussel Sprouts and strawberry shortcake. My aunt was like what kid chooses brussel sprouts for their birthday.
Anna, I agree about starting them young with good eating habits. My youngest daughter loved asparagus so much as a baby my husband would heat up a can to feed her for lunch. But I don’t believe it prevents picky eaters. I got one of those too. The boy of course. Nothing can be touching on his plate he don’t like foods that are mixed together like casseroles etc He’s even picky about sweets. One ice bluebell homemade vanilla. As a toddler he lived on grits and pb & J.
Rihanna should be ashamed of her self for wanting to play her fans cheap, she will use the fight to sell this slop, Love Me, Hate Me, I’m sorry mess!

My son will eat brussel sprouts every night of the week if I made it he looooves them. Can’t wait for Thanksgiving!
Shauny what do you do with all that good Turkey Gravy if you don’t have mashed potatoes. I know ppl do like it on their turkey and some even like it on their dressing. I never put two and two together about whites having mashed potatoes and Gravy for Thanksgiving, I thought everyone did it. My mom was white but my dad is black and from Mississippi. Silhouette I can’t stand Brussel sprouts. I consider them little dirty cabbages and I have never been able to find a way to make them taste good. I do love cabbage though.
