Egypt’s Zahi Hawass calls Beyonce a “stupid person”
Maybe Burlesque singer Beyonce shouldn’t travel outside of the U.S. since only Americans tend to dismiss how dumb she is.
In a shocking display of poor diplomacy, Egypt’s chief Egyptologist Zahi Hawass allegedly called American pop-star Beyonce a “stupid person” during her brief tour of the Giza pyramids earlier this week. Writing in al-Shorouk newspaper, Summer al-Gamal said that Hawass became fed up with the pop star’s attitude after she did not show the interest Hawass felt was deserved of the pyramids.
According to Gamal, during Hawass’ self-guided tour, he said “I showed her the Sphinx and I gave her a book on King Tutankhamen,” but then his anger and frustration made its way to the forefront.
“Then he stopped being diplomatic and said in anger, ’she’s a stupid person and she doesn’t understand a thing and she doesn’t want to understand’,” wrote Gamal.
Hawass is known for his outbursts. A number of foreigners have told Bikya Masr that he has employed Arabic to insult others at dinner events and gatherings, believing the non-Egyptians will not understand his Arabic. Beyonce, obviously, did not understand his jabs, Gamal said.
“She’s coming here to take pictures and that’s it,” Gamal quoted Hawass as saying. Read more…

I don’t think she’s stupid just because she wasn’t interested in what this person wanted her to be interested in either. Obviously, he thinks he more intelligent than others (his record of insults), so next!
Uhm I don’t insult Beyonce intelligence because this is a gossip board. I insult it because when you read or hear her in an interview she can not put her thoughts together correctly. She has a hard time expressing herself outside of smiling and performing.
I’m confused as to why she was on a tour she wasn’t interested in hearing about in the first place.

Iscream, so true. Everything is either an honor or amazing. She is so fortunate blahblahblah. I just don’t think she has an original bone in her body. Which is why altough I do believe she has vocal range, and can dance she still inspires NO emotion from me. I HAVE NEVER gotten chills or goosebumps listening to her. I never get amped watching her perform. Its just soo… I don’t know how to explain it other than she’s a pod person like Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
Its painfully obvious which is why I think so many people have a hard time believing she writes all these songs.
She has arguably more vocal range than Mary yet she brings no tears to my eyes the way Mary can.

If I was dumb and in this guys presence as he gives me a personal tour of the pyramid’s I would at least feign interest. I guess I’m hype because I’m a history buff though,

who knows what she did to prepare for her trip there. most people read up on countries theyre visiting to learn traditions, habits, etc. i’m thinking any questions on blonde moments she had were simply from not knowing. he may have been so into being a guide and speaking jargon. who knows?

I feel what someone else said about Beyonce being a good singer, but not really inpiring emotion. I’ve seen her perform a few times with DC and she does grab your attention and I was left with “Wow. THAT was a show.” But, someone like Mary J.Blige actually invokes emotions with me and you can FEEL her pain/happiness/rawness/sadness/joy in her voice when she sings.
Did anyone see the pic of Mashonda (Swizz Beaks wife) twitter page she is standing half naked in front of their son as her background. Totally inappropriate!

I saw the twitter page. I think her son was infused in the pic because the tweet spoke on how her and her soon to be ex- husband-alicia keys-current-boyfriend attended the meeting together and got such a great response on their son.

No surprises here. We all know Beyonce is no scholar. But I must say that I’m shocked she was not impressed by the ancient buildings. I would kill to see them.
I don’t know about this situation…but on a whole I have always felt Beyonce was a slow person. Some people like to say it’s her accent. It’s not! Solange is her sister and I like to hear her speak. Beyonce…an interview with her goes like this…”Everything is so amazing, it’s so amazing…smile smile smile…maybe on giggle and hair toss”. She seems robotic and most time kinda dead. It’s almost to me like she has NO personality. There are a lot of singer/rappers who interview and love to hear them. Her on the other hand…just sing and dance…but NEVER interview!
Beyonce doesn’t have past a high school diploma… are we really surprised she’s a big ole dummy. I don’t expect her to know much about the history & significance of the pyramids or know much about half the cities she’s been in, which is unfortunate… I have the same criticism for her as I do many other pop stars who have access to travel the world & are too self absorbed to take the time to experience other cultures and enrich their lives… instead they stay holed up in their luxury hotels probably watching american tv or some BS.
to be honest, i noticed a lot of these young celbs are not that bright. beyonce could never speak correctly. ciara use to annoy me also but think she got a little help in her speaking ability. these celbs just limit themselves to shaking their butts, taking pictures and laying up in hotels. they should try to learn other cultures while in their travels.

How did you read Sandra’s blurb & my comment and come up with the assertion that he didn’t speak English during the tour? Are you that much of a fan that you refuse to read & comprehend the information given to you?
It would interest you to know that Dr. Hawass, speaks English, French & Arabic fluently and when on the rare occasion that he gives tours of Egytian historic sites, he speaks ENGLISH.
So are you saying that Beyonce doesn’t understand English (which isn’t so far fetched, since she can’t verbally communicate in the language)? Do you even know who Dr. Hawass is? Do you understand that he’s not some regular tour guide and holds a postion in government? Why am I even wasting words on somebody who’s taking tylenol for Beyonce’s non existent headache, Girl Bye!
