Relax Y’all, Chipmunk Didn’t Kill Himself

British Superstar Chipmunk, whose number one hit “Oopsy Daisy” has garnered over 4 million views on YouTube, says he’s back to good health after leaving suicide tweets on Twitter.com.

The rapper, who turns 19 on Nov. 26, is said to be struggling with his down low lifestyle vs his public image as a bad boy Hip Hop star. It was that inner struggle that led him to leave alarming messages on the social networking site, which said “I Want to Die” and “is suicide easy?”

The messages caused a huge public outcry in London, but fans were relieved after Chipmunk made his first public appearance there earlier this week at Rihanna’s London Nokia concert. This is another reason why labels need to restrict their artists access to social networking sites like Twitter.

His record company previously said:

“Chipmunk has been working incredibly hard on generating a successful music career which has taken its toll on such a young artist.

“Label and management have agreed to cancel all upcoming promotion and personal appearances to give him some much needed time off.”

Doesn’t the female singer in this video sound just like Rihanna?

Never heard of him, but glad that he’s doing ok. It’s kinda scary to think that he is/was on suicide watch when he’s just getting started with his career.

I may be wrong … IMHO … anyone who writes suicide notes on twitter and/or facebook is doing it for attention.

This why Motown had it right. They need to reintroduce the workshops they require these artist to go through before the INSIST on letting them be famous. Also, this is 2009 since when does being gay or rumors of being gay stop a rapper from being FAMOUS……..Hell, it seems to help!

I think labels should ban twitter for their artists. Although its the next best thing in remaining close to the fans. It is not serving the greater good. Artists are twittering wayyyyyy to much and have a compulsive urge to mistakenly spill the beans on some things.

Just like the NFL banned it during games. Labels should implement some control. At the end of the day $ needs to be made. Not taken away because of a mis-twitter post. OOPS!

Never heard of em. Glad he’s straight tho. As for the downlow lifestyle. How is it downlow when everybody already know about him? He’s lucky to have a music career. There’s gay rappers in the states that wish they could be him right now. He should just roll with it as long as the people love him he’s straight.
