Amerie’s Album Flops (Why Are We Not Surprised?)
Singers like Amerie come a dime a dozen. Record labels sign these chicks and expect consumers to accept their lack of talent and buy their music because they’re cute or they fit the cookie cutter industry standard of beauty.
Unfortunately, the #1 album this week belongs to a 46-year-old woman who shattered the false industry standard of beauty by outselling Beyonce, Rihanna, Amerie and Trey Song combined!
So it should come as no surprise to anyone that Amerie’s latest studio effort has flopped. Only her record label is surprised.
According to Rap-Up.com, Amerie latest CD, ‘In Love & War’ sold just 12,500 copies in the first week. A dismal number considering that Bow Wow’s forgettable CD sold 5,500 more copies than hers.
Amerie’s CD entered the charts at around #46 and is already heading in the wrong direction: downward.
But not to worry, Amerie is just happy that magazines will continue to give her photo spreads and kiss up to her like she’s Anita Baker or something. After all, what do they know about good, quality music?
On her dismal sales, Amerie said:
“It’s a very weird time. I didn’t worry about it ’cause I felt like it’s not about the first week. I knew when the album came out, it wasn’t coming out with a big hit ’cause we just went to radio with the ‘Pretty Brown’ record two weeks before the album came out, so we already knew it was going to be one of those over time things vs. a first week thing, which is cool.”
Someone needs to remind Amerie that there are no hits records on her entire CD. So her 1st week numbers are the best that she can expect out of that garbage.

I liked Amerie 1st cd but the ones that followed weren’t buying worthy imo. Sorry Amerie but sometimes I think she trys to sings songs that prove she can’t sing in the 1st place.

Her first CD was good Touch had some joints and Because I Love It was a damn good CD. I hope she keeps doing her because if these “others” can have a CD and cant sing worth a damn or don’t even write their own songs than why can’t we have people in the industry who can. Ahhhh I miss the 90’s when you didnt have to be half naked all the time all you needed was a real voice.

I liked Amerie, but a cousin of mine that knows people in the industry said that she got “hollywood diva” on them. Her first album was good because Tima nd Bob produced it. But after her tantrums and thangs, they didn’t want to work with her anymore. This is her fourth album and people only know about 2. If she is able to, I think she may make a comeback……maybe

I agree. Im all team Amerie…. she can hold a damn note unlike some of these heifers out here BUT she needs to do something. This album isnt that bad
Actually Tan82, Rich Harrison wrote and produced Amerie 1st album.
i like Amerie firstly because shes an HBCU graduate! her first CD was excellent her second CD single wtih TI and 2 other songs were HOT! and not to mention I had no idea she could dance until her second CD. I like Pretty Brown for some reason, but I think she just needs to come harder to compete in this weak industry. shell be ok shes a smart beautiful woman who can fall back on a good education if this music thing continues not to work out!

wait Sandra, you say Bey screeches no AMERIE does! ugh!! I hate her voice it urks the hell outta me! her and Rhianna. and all of the songs that leaked on this album I didn’t like not one of them. So my question is who bought her CD?
As far as music you can dance to, I love Amerie. She’s had some jams. I’d actually rather see her have more success than see these manufactured talents and media hounds (like Rihanna)continue to crop up and have mega success and then fall into oblivion.
