Elizabeth Gates Blogs About Tiger’s ‘Thing for White Girls’
Elizabeth Gates, the daughter of Professor Henry Louis Gates, and a correspondent for The Daily Beast, has thrown herself into the Tiger Woods media frenzy by blogging about Tiger’s preference for white women.
Here’s a mixed race woman (her mother is white) who probably only dates white guys, critiquing a mixed race man who prefers white women. The hypocrisy in her blog is laughable. She makes the argument that Tiger could have done the “right thing” and kept his distance from white women, but he didn’t.
She writes:
He went out, met a few girls, and got caught. Textbook prophesy for a young, attractive athlete. At least he didn’t beat his wife like Mike Tyson did.
She actually wrote that!
Naturally, her readers ripped her a new one and rightfully so. Elizabeth would have gotten her point across better had she explained the public outcry from a mixed race person’s perspective since she titled her blog ‘Tiger’s Thing for White Girls.’
Apparently, Gates doesn’t see a problem with Woods cheating on his wife. She only faults him for getting caught. Gates also “did not think Janet Jackson should have apologized for showing her nipple during the Super Bowl, whether it was a mistake or not.”
Those of you who think the media frenzy surrounding the Tiger Woods saga is simply about his cheating, think again.

We all can see that all of Tiger’s transgressions are non black but Elizabeth should have wrote about his lack of wanting a woman with a brain/education other than high school.
Whoa! Someone has anger issues. I agree with Lovely Lady. What difference does it make if he cheats with a white woman or a black one. He clearly has a preference, but who the heck cares. The cheating should be what the problem is.

I don’t think it’s her hating her own race so she’s lashing out. I think that’s just something a lot of people have thought about. When asked, most people would say Tiger is black first, then the rest of his ancestry. So, you would ask why weren’t any of his “ladies” black.
Everybody’s just trying to get their shine in on this whole situation.
As long as tiger isn’t bashing black women to justify his preference…who cares? He has a thing for white women, so does 70% of the nba, and maybe 30% of the nfl… 9i maded up those numbers lol)

this goes back to the late 1800′s/early 1900′s when the mixing of the races happened but was not prevelant. it is in the same category as those old factors like the: the one drop rule, the pencil test, and the paper bag rule. most of it has gone away since mixing is now a norm and not the exception.
however, i can bet money that if you meet anyone who is of mixed race over the age of say 40, that they 9 times out of 10; they identify with the race of their father. some people who come to mind are President Obama who says he is a black man, halle berry who says she is a black woman, and a few others as well.

I guess it is a preference. It’s weird because my sis is darker/normal brown skin woman and she is on her second white husband, while all us white skin siblings married black spouses.
@ RTB IDK, but that can be said for the other races also. When ur mixed with black they automatically lable you “black”. And most people go with it. my cousins are half black and philipino and my uncle had them fooled since they were 3 that they were black. my cousin would literally say that she was black and her mom was asian. when we asked my uncle, he said he told them that b/c that is what they looked like. when they walk in a room people see some black kids w/ slanted eyes. if i recall, that was halle berry’s mother’s logic for raising her as black too. i don’t care what you claim, i know what i am.

I will also say that some of the black men that date outside of their race is because that is what they grew up around. That is all they know and they become accustomed to a particular race. On the other hand some black men date outside of their race because they want the LSLH affect. It all depends o the person. I feel Tiger did it because he wanted the LSLH affect, Tikki Barber did it because that is what he grew up around.
My son goes to a predominately white school and guess who he talks to and has crushes on…white girls because that is all he is around. He said he would like to date black girls but there are not that many in his school to date. I told him that we will try to figure something out so he can get to know all kids of girls and date different races.

Look, the one black woman Tiger Woods was ever linked with romantically (albeit briefly) was Tyra Banks… when she was on the top of her game as a supermodel; but then he chooses to marry an unaccomplished nanny/hanger-on and cheats on her with women of similar caliber. Personally I think it’s quite likely that Tiger doesn’t feel black women are on his level, but these dog faced 2 bit ho waitress types are just fine by him since they’re white… but since he’s never articulated that publicly he gets a pass.

Personally, I think the reason why tiger disassociated himself from Black culture probably has more to do with his dad. When Tiger was a kid he really looked more mixed than he does now. His father who had already married a non black woman probably wanted his son to grow up and do the same, his father probably had some negative issues with his own blackness. Ultimately the pressure from being the world’s best golfer and his isolation from black identity probably is why he’s in the mess he’s in now. This guy is really off the hook you don’t see NBA players these out of control.

I thought I was the only person who noticed this! From a nanny to waitresses, bar hosts, etc. There is nothing wrong with those professions but there is definitely a pattern with Tiger other than the color of their skin.

This whole “preference” stuff is ridiculous to me from the standpoint that you might “preference” your way out a wonderful mate because of something as superficial as color. I understand attraction to a certain type, but if people give another human a chance (I mean we aren’t talking about a cut of meat or a certain hairstyle), they might find that maybe, just maybe, they’ll meet their match.
I know many women whom have been married for years who didn’t find their husbands attractive at first or really didn’t like them until they got to know them. Had they not given that man a chance, they would’ve missed their blessing.
As far Tiger (whom I’ve NEVER considered black) or any brotha who doesn’t like me as a black woman, I say – bye. No love lost. If you don’t want me, I surely don’t want you. Too many people with severe issues.

Now all joking aside. I don’t care that he has white women I just hate the fact he has 10 WOMEN PERIOD and he’s married. We like who we like. He/she is assuming that every black man wants a white woman. When you consider that the MAJORITY of black men are with black women, or the fact that every black man isn’t sniffin some white woman’s tail, that comment is pure stinkin’ garbage. Every black man does not want a white woman. I can say that if it’s a black man, not working and being a bum he will get a white girl of him. When he is done with her the same type of woman will continue taking care of his lazy butt. I have found that when a man leaves you for a white woman(it hasn’t happened to me, maybe I scared them away from the mixed chicks and they went back to the brown skin women) but when he leaves you for a white women she never has anything on the sista except for IMO stupidity for putting up with his mess.

I’m thinking what RachelRachel (#49) is trying to convey is that many blacks are whitewashed. Many still hold that slave mentality of the white man/woman being superior, thus we chase everything that looks like, smells like, and acts like them.

I know one thing if Tiger thought denying his blackness, making up a race and sleeping with and marrying a white woman was going to make him exempt from the REAL White man’s wrath, he’s finding it out now that he does not get a pass. I was listening to my local radio station this morning and they said a women in our “Burbs” had a 6 month affair with Tiger. While watching my local news they talked with her grandfather(off camera interview) and he said she moved to New York to persue a modeling career. It has been reported that Tiger flew her around the Globe while he was at golfing events to be with him. SMH. I do agree with you that he is getting exactly what he deserves for forgetting he is “Black”. They will always love the money you make them and smile in your face, attheendoftheday, you still a nicca to them. Hubby still thinks that the media is trying to break this man. He thinks what Tiger did should be between him and his wife, I said “I agree”, but not when there is more than one “mistress” and he gets paid for his “squeaky clean image”. I am just happy that there was not a “Kobe press conference” with Elin by his side saying how she is going to stand by her man and work things out.
