While running for president, Barack Obama criticized outgoing president George Bush for the war in Iraq.

Obama lashed out at the Bush administration for starting the war in Iraq without “giving either Congress or the American people the full story.”

Obama promised to withdraw troops from Iraq and cut the military budget if he was elected.

Remember when Obama said:

I intend to end this war. My first day in office I will bring the Joint Chiefs of Staff in, and I will give them a new mission, and that is to end this war — responsibly, deliberately, but decisively.

During a nationally televised speech last night, Obama announced his plans to send an additional 34,000 troops to fight a war in Afghanistan that no one wants.

As of December 8, 2009, the Iraq war cost 4,326 American lives since the start of combat in 2003. Obama’s Afghanistan war has cost nearly 850 soldiers lives and is on pace to eclipse the Iraq total. Meanwhile, Obama will tee up on the golf course this weekend.
