SMDH @ the people in this post . first they say u should be ashamed if you don’t have a degree, then when someone who doesn’t have a degree made a good life for herself people jump on her ? i don’t get it .
~~~~~~~~~~
I said "they should be ashamed" Kids don't want to listen to their parents about staying in school or getting a highter education. My father-in-law is blessed to not only be 71 but retired at 52 from the "auto industry" who can be at one job all their life and retire from one job now and days? I did say that if you are crafty, business minded that a degree is not necessary. I don't have a degree. I have certifications/licenses to work in the State I live in and our bordering State. I actually appreciated Lovely breaking down her career. I was inpressed. My very first paying job (that took out taxes) I was 15 and my hourly wage was $3.25/hr. I was so proud and it paid for me to see my first Prince Concert as a teen. :lol: My daughter just finished school to get her Masters. The College she applied for was just a College to me. I did not know the value of the school until I started talking to others who would ask how my child was doing in college and what school did she attend. Nothing wrong with educating yourself on where your child is going to Grad School at. I was just so proud and excited that she was going. I don't think there is anything wrong with sharing your shine with others. I am going to be a new(first time)grandmother on the 29th. I guess I will have to find another site to brag about my gradndaughter. :lol:
Kryyystal thoroughly analyzed your comments. I will defer to her comment #169 accordingly.
I strongly believe that you could have celebrated your accomplishments without the comparison to lower salaries of your college educated friends.
Congratulations on your success Lovely Lady. Just be sure that you are taking advantage of every opportunity that comes your way INCLUDING the chance for higher education.
I started working at Verizon when I was 19. Due to my position (Business Consultant), by the time I was 23 I was making a little over $50k a year. Once that department was downsized in 2003, I was given a choice find another job within Verizon at the same level or find another job outside of Verizon. Of course I opted to transfer to another department (Residential Collections) and it was horrible. I stuck it out for a little over a year because I haas gotten so used to my lifestyle hence being so young and able to pay all my bills, save a little, and shop a lot. After a year in, I couldn't take the stress that came from the management of the office so I left. I only had a GED, but I figured that with over 5 years of experience in the telecommunications industry with an industry giant like Verizon, I should have no problems getting another job making that type of money. Boy was I was wrong!!!!
Not saying that this is going to happen to you, but just always know that we can never be too prepared for tomorrow.
BUT i didnt go to college. However I DO think education is very very important and all teens/kids SHOULD finish high school. But I make 55,000 plus a year (that may not be much to most of yall older peeps who been working for years) for me thats good and im 22. Im a logistics coordinator who does work for The Dept of Education. Oh an di have no kids so my income is pretty good for just me.
And alot of my frineds who did go to college coming out making 35,000 on an average, shut some still cant find work cause they got no experience. BUT i do agree education is important.
so you said education is important, BUUUUUUT you got your job just fine with no college degree.. and education is important BUUUUUT all ya girls who went to college making less than 40 thou.. education is important BUUUUUT you didn't go to college and you make 55k+ a year..
then.. someone congratulates you (see comment 37) and you continue on your soapbox.. but you were just answering questions? funny cause 37 didn't ask not nare question.. and you still found a way to rub it in that you "busted your butt, graduated a year early from hs, and others are STILL paying off student loans".. still think education is important right??
then gone come right back and make sure to mention you are now making 55+ due to an evaluation..
then gone come back again and talk about how your making more than other women at your job, your always the youngest employed.. need i continue??
i only saw one time where a person asked you a question, and that was about where do you work and if they were hiring.. not about your wages since you were 16..
i can read just fine, matter of fact i copied and pasted all that for you just so YOU can re-read your comments.. i'm sure the Dept. of Education would find it interesting that someone they employ for 55k+ sits on a gossip rag all day, talking down on other employees and education.. i kinda thought that the Dept. of Education promoted education, didn't ya'll??
if it don't apply, let it fly.. but obviously your the one getting rubbed the wrong way here, hun!
