TMZ.com reports that Brittany Murphy, star of popular teen angst movies, has died of a cardiac arrest. She was 32-years-old.

Murphy was found unresponsive in her shower around 8 a.m. this morning by her mother who called 911. She was transported by ambulance in full cardiac arrest to Cedars-Sanai Medical Center (a few miles away) where she was pronounced dead.

Murphy starred in such films as "Clueless," "8 Mile," and "Don't Say a Word."

    Another tragic Hollywood death.

    Death caused by drugs or starvation, perhaps? RIP

    WOW! She was an adorably goofy actress. Sorry to hear that. Christmas won't be the same for her fam.

    Man I just watched Clueless a few weeks ago......... "rolling with the homies..." :(

  • gypsyeyes

    Wow!! I'm really saddened by this. I don't want to seem insensitive but I wonder if her struggle with her weight had anything to with it. She is super skinny and was taking a lot of flack for being so rail thin by Hollywood.
    My prayers go out to her family. I really liked her. R.I.P.

  • Thando

    I smell the strong wiff of drugs.....

    It's still sad though. Exactly my age. Makes me think....
    RIP. I loved her in Sin City. Poor thing.

    I just hope her hubby is not in anyway involved in this issue.

  • KrayZKat

    RIP, Brittany. She was also the voice of LuAnn on King of the Hill. Gone 2 soon.

    I also heard that Alaina Reed (Rose on 227) passed away too from breast cancer. A lot of celebs have left us this year. RIP to both of these fine actresses.

    2009 has been a terrible year for celebs :crying1:

    @cheeks, I didn't hear about that! SMH

    :offtopic: (kinda)
    Last night we were reminiscin' on a cousin who was killed by a hit&run driver. Anyway, she was on drugs & usta go thru "trips" her aunt said she told her, "Baby, maybe you need to find a different drug. People on drugs are usually happy, you're not happy, so maybe you should use a different drug."

  • Mahogany03

    @ trynabeme
    Wow. I'm speechless. People on drugs are the most miserable if you ask me. Prime example: David Ruffin (from the Temptations)

  • trynabeme

    Mahogany03, true. They have many demons that they're battling, but they are always the life of the party. Prime example: Frankie

  • Mahogany03

    :rofl: Frankie is a trip!

  • cheeks8683

    @ trynabeme...That Frankie comment was too much...trying not to laugh about the druggy on a Sunday...just got outta chuuuuch not too long ago lol

  • pyt305

    RIP

  • LadeeA

    That is sad. She was very young. She did lose ALOT of weight at one point and I'm pretty sure there were some kind of drugs involved. Unfortunately, being a celebrity is not as glam as it looks.

  • SweetP1984

    OMG! Are you serious. Nooooooooooooooooooo. Not Britney. I'm usually not stuck on particular celebrities but I loved her ever since the movie clueless. I would watch that movie over and over again because of her. She was always like the pretties white girl to me. So sad. RIP

  • SweetP1984

    Brittany

  • Anna

    I just woke up from my "Sunday Nap"(Botty Call). This is sad. My mother died at the age of 32 due to Cardiac Arrest. She was not a drug user, abuser nor did she drink. She had 5 kids, half a husband(my daddy) and worked two jobs. Heart Disease is inherited, my grandfather(her dad) and my uncle (her brother) died from the same thing. I think Brittnay had a issue with food and her body was starved. I pray that she can RIP. The image to be thin is toxic when you are in the lime light. Angelia Jolie looks starved when she is not pregnant and has even said that it is hard for her to eat when she visits other Countries and knows that they don't have enough food to eat.

  • gypsyeyes

    I do believe that it was the weight issue. Anorexia or Bolemia can cause cardiac arrest also. Now about the comment about the person being on the wrong drugs :rofl:
    I knew someone on drugs that went to my friends house and started cutting the grass at 3am. In my best Rick James voice: "Cocaine is a helluva drug"

  • Daisy

    @gypsy that made LOL for real at the hair salon everybody turned n looked at me :rofl:

    RIP and :pray: to the family!

    You aint right. I just sent my son to gas up my car and to buy me a pac of cigs. He said "Why don't you smoke Newports", I said "those things will kill you", We all(him, me and his, sister)started bursting out laughing.

    ~~~~~~~~~~
    I am a closet smoker. I am 42 and still will never smoke in front of my dad. The man who pays my salary forgets I smoke because I don't smell like it and don't have to take a break every hr. I live in Ohio and you can't smoke anywhere, e g, resturant, public buildings. In Cali they want to in act a law that you can't smoke in your car if you have a passanger under the age of 18. Pretty soon all states will have a law that you can't smoke in your own home. Some laws are crazy, am I also in a few years going to have to have a appointment to make love with my hubby? :lol:
  • SweetP1984
    Lol@32 the Adderal my doctor prescribed me has me doing stuff like that. I'll jump up and clean up the house, take a shower, bathe my puppy, and wash my car all in few hours time.
    Some drugs make you do the opposite. My brother was on a drug for a few months for depression, it made him so happy he forgot to write the checks out for his bills. :lol: He stopped taking it after the second notice letters started arriving in his mail box.
  • omina-homina
    could have been drugs, could have been a bad diet, could have been diet pills (they can cause the heart rate to skyrocket), could have been a number of things. We'll have to wait and see.
    RIP, she was such a cute gal.
  • gypsyeyes
    OK @ Anna- We are in the kitchen listening to xmas carols and I'm crying reading about your brother and the fact that you said that about Newports. My mother got mad and walked out because I'm not singing with them. That was funny.
    My mom smoked since she was 11 and quit cold turkey july 27,2007. you would never know that she was a smoker.
    Anna-There is hope. The cost of cigarettes had a lot to do with it also.
    Everyone has a crazy crack head family member, some of us are lucky to have a crazy crack head neighbor or just a nice neighbor that loves to set your garbage cans back where they belong, or loves to cut your grass or water your flowers. I live in a "Polish" neighborhood and the Polish (in the Summer time)love to hose down side walks. I love giving kids "side walk chalk", my neighbors may not like me but kids are bad and they better be happy I give away the chalk because kids these days love a spray paint can to graffiti houses and garages. :lol:
  • trynabeme
    @Anna, I have a family FULL of smokers! Me & my cousins used to smoke (ages 12(me) down to 9). The block we lived on back then was mostly family (3 houses full) so in theory during the summers we were supervised by somebody but in reality me & cousins were always into sumthin'! We weren't fass (chasin' after no boys or nuthin' like that) but we did kick up dust! Funny thing is NONE of us smoke (cigarettes) ;)
    My dad was a smoker but quit cold turkey about 10 yrs ago. It was easy for him because he's a recovering alcoholic, while my mom has tried to stop smoking more times than I could ever count! Poe mama, she tries. She don't 'llow no smokin' in huh house tho! :nono:
  • trynabeme
    Not “soulja-Girl-Marta Train”! :rofl:
    Am I the only who thinks twice "before I getsta blowin' up on yo ass" (© Kandi) for fear of being the next youtube sensation????? That REALLY be on my mind!
  • gypsyeyes
    you never know when someone is watching/taping you. I was on youtube(that's what I do alot) and there were these people in line at a club in Mississippi with a girl in line waiting to get in the club with her baby on her hip. You never know when someone is recording you. The guy was asking ppl what they thought about her bringing her baby and some people said that it was her business. I just couldn't believe it. I know sometimes you wanna go out but have no sitter but dang. If it was a house party than yeah but a club. NAWL!!!!
  • Anna
    @ trynabeme, Of all of my parents kids combined (6) only me and a sister are smokers. I have a sister who has a daughter who does smoke but out of all my nieces and nephews and my own kids, none of them smoke. My kids don't date smokers. My dad use to smoke cigars and a pipe(Sherlock Holmes, not a crack pipe :lol:) he quit cold turkey when my mom died. Some ppl can over eat and some smoke, it's a "oral fixaction". I have been smoking since I was a teen. I can say that I did quit smoking while pregnant 3 times and quit breast feeding my last kid at almost a yr. old because I wanted and missed smoking. I know it's bad, wrong and annoying. I think I do it out of boredom and something to do. I don't even think about a cig when I am at my 9-5.
  • aqtpie
    R.I.P. Brittany!!!
  • shunda
    R.I.P Brittany. I loved her in Uptown girls. My daughter and I watch that movie all the time.
  • sexywitwhatigot
    wow! i'm mad late. RIP Brittany. just read her husband is not ordering an autopsy, so that's a red flag to me.
    p.s. i'm a smoker too (cigs that is). bad thing about it, i started smoking at 27 or 28. aaawful huh? i didn't smoke when i was prego with my daughter and even after for a while, so i know i am capable of quitting again. kinda getting tired of it, so i think slowly but surely, i'm weaning myself off.
  • http://snakebelt.blogspot.com dustypork
    I think the husband not wanting an autopsy is to protect her image and not leave a sour image about her death.
    R.I.P.
  • trynabeme
    Can't protect an image that's already flawed :shrugs: I might do the same for my loved one...ppl gonna speculate, let 'em. No need to confirm it to give 'em a new story.
    Damn, is it that serious. I don't go to the clubs (Comic Clubs yes)and hubby and I still have date night a few times a month. We can't make this stuff up, she really had the baby on her hip tryig to get into a club? SMH. I am sorry, some things are "our business". Where is her mother(first in line to drop it likes it hot?) Where is the babies father, DJing and finds nothing wrong with it?
  • trynabeme
    But did she actually get in the club???? I guess in my mind I'm just knowin' S'CURITY put the smash down like MOVE BISH GET THE WAY! Wouldn't kids in the club be grounds for getting the liqa license pulled?
    ~~~~~~~
    You made me laugh out loud. Where was S'CUIRITY to put the smash down. Going to the club with a baby on the hip is a ghetto hot mess. I am still trying to picture LaQuisha standing in line with her Kool Aid colored hair and her nails did with a baby (wearing a lace front) on her hip, trying to get her groove on(shake your groove thing, shake your gooove thing)(sorry, it's the voices in my head again).

  • gypsyeyes

    well no I don't think that she got in the club. I think that you guys should watch it on the "tube". But the guys were really talking about it. The baby was wide awake tho. There was a guy with her and he was holding the baby for a minute. Oh yeah did I mention that the baby was spitting up while they were in line. I promise you that I'm not making this up, you can't make this up!!!

  • dmgeorge

    She did a show once on MTV, one of those behind the scenes type things and what I remembered was she was working on a cd. I didnt know she could sing. From the snippet she sang, it was nice. I was hoping she came out with a cd. It had a jazz feel to it. She was way to young to die. I loved her movies.....people really need to think before living that celebrity lifestyle. It is too much pressure and it can put factors in your life that can end it too soon, i.e. Heath Ledger...

  • vetta

    That's shocking, wow. R.I.P. Brittany Murphy.

  • Natasha

    I pray for her family!

  • KaraZ

    This really is sad news, may she rest in peace.

    Her death is being reported as a result of "natural causes," & while it may seem untoward, many young people die of the same reason. I had a cousin who died of natural causes 5 days after his 25th birthday & all those false rumors of drug use or something unsavory just made the grieving process that much harder. The truth is, it was simply his time to go & his heart gave out. So it is entirely possible that her death had nothing to do with drugs (she wasn't a known druggie) or an alleged eating disorder, perhaps it was simply her time to go.

  • http://chitchatta.com Yadda Yadda

    What a shame she so young.

  • Vneezy

    Poor thing, RIP Brittany!! She's just got to be in a better place.

  • Quitta

    Damn. This is so sad. My condolences to her family.
    Making me depressed, dammit.

    Somebody told me it was Kate Hudson that died. I knew it wasn’t her. She too busy getting her back broke out by A. Rod.

  • Anna

    Her husband does not want a autopsy, WHY? TMZ reported that she was vomiting and had flu like symptoms. I remember her in "Uptown Girls" w/ Dakota Fanning.

  • Chgoprime

    Awwww I loved 'TY' I still watch Clueless to this day. She had admitted that she had an eating disorder. I just hope this had nothing to do w/that or drugs. A 32 yo just does not go into cardiac arrest. She was never in the press or a fame whore, never saw her trying to get attention she let her talent speak for itself. RIP Brittany you will be missed girl.

    So sad I really liked her especially in uptown girls and as LuAnne of King of the hill. She was very funny! I think its horrible for people to jump to conclusions about drug use.
