Beyonce Ruffles Feathers in Trinidad (what is her problem?)
Once again, Beyonce’s greed and insensitivity to local customs takes precedence over common good:
Residents of the island nation Trinidad and Tobago are up in arms over the scheduling of an upcoming Beyoncé concert. It is slated to take place just two days after Carnival, one of the country’s biggest cultural events.
Residents say the pop diva’s show will do nothing but take attention and funds away from the event, which brings considerable tourist money to the country. Beyoncé’s visit will cost an estimated £1 million, and many residents believe that money should go directly into Carnival.
“We have nothing against Beyoncé,” Trinidad local Gregory Fernandes told the Trinidad and Tobago Express. “We are just saying that it is insensitive to bring her at this time. It will affect all Carnival stakeholders because, you know, it’s not just a case of people forgoing fetes and shows to buy tickets.” Read More…

Her concert sold out over there in like a day so somebody wanted her there. You have to look were the money is going to find the root of the problem. The locals showed that wanted her there…

I’m sure the concert was empty so I don’t think she need or wants to retire for that matter. Despite the amount of awards or amount of money she has, i think she loves to perform.

@RedBottom- I’m not sure if I would address it or not. Those are some harsh allegations but acknowledging them would open the floodgates for more and more questions regarding the issue, and people are still gonna believe whatever that want anyway and they can always put stuff together how they see fit. It seems like it would be an exhausting battle. but idk, maybe they do, maybe they don’t. I pray that they don’t though. Some people also say that Jay-Z is the antichrist but how many times have we heard that before…
You’re right, addressing it would definitelty open doors for more questions but I don’t think silence is golden in this case…
They already stated they are not mad at Beyonce, its the people who decided to bring her.
They count on people being sheeps, why address something that your die hard fans will not believe anyway. It keeps them mysterious because every move they make we are watching, protecting the brand.

Carnival is EVERY damn year Beyonce performing in Trinidad/Tobago is a special occurance. They’re bad because the country is not in a good place fiscally, and were already counting on people spending outside of their means for carnival (like so many crazy people here do for Christmas). Scheduling the concert so close to Carnival (read: within the same pay period) means that someone else is profitting off of their citizens impulse purhcases, lol

Please understand the facts before you JUMP DOWN THE THROATS of the promoter. The tickets for the concert cost $1600.00, the company TSTT who is subsidzing the concert at the tune of $500 0000.00 has decided to NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE CARNIVAL COMPETIONS( they are the sponsors of the prizes for the various carnival competitions)in order to foot the bill for Beyone’s visit. TSTT is half owned by the government and the people of Trinidad feel that they did not have a say in this decision. It is not that they do not want BEYONCE there it just many carnival events can be cancelled because of her visit…..PLEASE GET THE FACTS BEFORE POSTING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
