POLL: Majority Would Vote Against Obama for 2nd Term

From NationalJournal.com:
A year into his tenure, a majority of Americans would already vote against Pres. Obama if the ’12 elections were held today, according to a new survey.
The Allstate/National Journal Heartland Monitor poll shows 50% say they would probably or definitely vote for someone else. Fully 37% say they would definitely cast a ballot against Obama. Meanwhile, just 39% would vote to re-elect the pres. to a 2nd term, and only 23% say they definitely would do so.
Obama’s first year in office has been marked by an unemployment rate that surged to 10%, an increased commitment of troops to Afghanistan and a health care battle that has taken a serious political toll on the WH.Obama’s approval rating is down to 47%, the poll showed, a 14-point drop since the April survey. 45% disapprove, up 17 points from April. Only 41% say they trust Obama more than Congressional GOPers, while 33% pick the GOP over the WH. That 8-point gap is down from a 21-point edge Obama sported as recently as Sept.
Just 34% say the country is moving in the right direction, down 13 points since April, and 55% say it is off on the wrong track, up 13 points over the same period. Read More…
Hunger, Anger, Desperation Fuels Looting in Haiti *Updated*

*Scroll down for update…
Aid is pouring into earthquake ravaged Port-au-Prince, Haiti from all over the globe. But the trucks carrying much needed medicine, food and water to the survivors are being hampered by looters who blocked the roads with corpses and debris. The FAA has canceled flights into the tiny island’s jam packed airport because of the lack of concrete to land a plane on.
Singer/songwriter Wyclef Jean, a native of Haiti, calls the situation in Haiti an apocalypse. Speaking via telephone to Fox News Channel’s Bret Baier from Haiti, Jean said, “This is apocalypse. The reality here at the airport has nothing to do with what’s going on on the ground right now.
“We spent the day picking up dead bodies, all day that’s what we did. There’s so much bodies in the streets that the morgues are filled up, the cemeteries are filled up. So we participated in picking up the bodies and finding a place that we could put the bodies.”
Health officials worry that the lack of sanitation will result in widespread epidemics. It is day 3 and victims are still trapped in the rubble of collapsed buildings.
But rescuers say after today the focus will shift from rescuing the trapped to preventing epidemics which poses a health risk to rescuers and Haitian survivors.
U.S. president Barack Obama has pledged $100 million in aid to Haiti. But Wyclef and actress Angelina Jolie (who donated $1 million of her own money to the cause) say that’s not enough.
Wyclef questions why Obama has not declared Haiti a state of emergency considering that he curiously declared a national emergency in October for an epidemic that we all knew did not exist.
“We are calling for a state of emergency,” said Wyclef. “Please President Obama, Secretary of State Hilary Clinton. We have to do something for this country.”

My apologies for the slow posts today. I will resume posting your favorite celebrity gossip and news momentarily. Thank you for your patience.
Celebs Out & About

Local club promoter Slimm and his lady, actress Vivica A. Fox partied at Tongue & Groove Monday night in Atlanta. They’ll be in Miami, Florida next weekend clubbing, enjoying the surf and doing a little shopping. It must be nice! Photos (2) by Prince Williams/ATLPics.net

I’ve never seen a young man get hated on like this just because of who he’s sleeping with. Even the brothas can’t hide their envy. One industry cat called me to hate on Slimm’s shoes. Come on, son.

Celebrity stylist Misa Hylton celebrated her 30th birthday at Greenhouse in NYC last night. As you know, Misa holds the honor of being Sean Combs’ first baby mama. Their son Justin turned 16 recently. It pays to be a baby mama to the rich and famous. We may not know what you do but at least we know your name.

Sean Combs’ mom Janice Combs attended Misa Hylton’s birthday bash last night at the Greenhouse in NYC. Doesn’t she look hawt! Get it mama! I LOVE your confidence. She gives the hatahs LIFE!

Singer Lil’ Mo is so nice…

Why do I look at this pic of Que and suddenly have an urge for pancakes and syrup? This boy is too sweet. He’d better not ever tell a woman that lie that he’s straight.

R.I.P. Teddy Pendergrass, Dead At 59
Teddy Pendergrass is dead. Ask your mom and your aunties about him.
If you could have seen him at the peak of his career, before his car accident, you probably would have taken your panties off and threw them at him. In fact, many women did just that at Teddy’s concerts in the 80s.
He was so suave and smooth that men everywhere hated him. But the ladies loved Teddy.
The buttery smooth R&B singer died Wednesday at Bryn Mawr Hospital in Philadelphia. He was 59.
Pendergrass, who was paralyzed from the waist down in a car accident in 1982, underwent surgery for colon cancer eight months ago and had a “difficult recovery,” according to his son, Teddy Jr.
A Philly native, Pendergrass came to fame in the early 1970s as lead singer of the Blue Notes, responsible for hits such as “If You Don’t Know Me By Now” and “Wake Up Everybody.”He released his self-titled debut in 1977 and enjoyed a successful solo career, siring velvety singles like “Close the Door” and “Turn Off the Light.” Read More…
Watch Haiti Earthquake Coverage Live on CNN
Please continue to pray for the people of Haiti. It’s frustrating to see people still trapped in the rubble of collapsed buildings and the bodies of dead children laid out on sidewalks. There are roves of dazed, hungry, thirsty Haitians wandering in the streets. People are suffering. The president of Haiti doesn’t have anywhere to sleep because his home is destroyed.
What is taking so long for relief to get to the people?
48 hours after the earthquake, the Red Cross still hasn’t arrived with much needed medical supplies. Remember that if you think about donating money to the Red Cross.

La La Vazquez Is Getting Married

According to La La Vaquez’s PR firm, she’s getting married in NYC over the Summer. Congrats to her and longtime boyfriend NBA star Carmelo Anthony. The couple have one son together.
She did it the right way by waiting until he proved himself. You’ll probably recall that little dustup between these two a couple of years back when LaLa found out he was creeping. She’s a good woman – better than most who would have sent his azz packing.

Here are pics of LaLa shopping and eating at Cipriani’s with her mom in NYC yesterday. They have a lot to do to prepare for the big wedding. I’m sure half the NBA and their wives are invited.
Hi!
Check out TV personality La La Vazquez while she was out and about in NYC with her mom Carmen. La La just announced that she will be getting married this summer to long time fiancee Carmelo Anthony in NYC. She has hired celebrity wedding planner Mindy Weiss, known for her very elegant and glamerous weddings (Heidi Klum, Eva Longoria and Gwen Stephanie).
