PICS: Earthquake Rocks Haiti
News and pictures are finally filtering out of Port-Au-Prince, Haiti which was rocked by an earthquake measuring 7.0 on the Richter scale today (Jan. 12). Pictures posted on the NY Times website show the devastation and injured. Casualties are expected to be high.
U.S. president Barack Obama has pledged to send aid to the tiny island nation. Offers of support and donations for Haiti are pouring in from all over the world. Local Atlanta DJs are taking donations and collecting canned goods. And members of a LA fire rescue team are deploying to Haiti.
The 72-member heavy rescue task force received a request for help from the U.S. Agency for International Development and is gathering at a staging area in Pomona, county fire officials said.
The team includes paramedics, search dogs, communication specialists and rescuers who are trained in combing through collapsed structures to find victims.
Obama has instructed State Department, the United States Agency for International Development and the United States Southern Command to begin working to coordinate an assessment, aides said.
“My thoughts and prayers go out to those who have been affected by this earthquake,” Mr. Obama said in a statement. “We are closely monitoring the situation and we stand ready to assist the people of Haiti.”

Wyclef Jean Requests Prayers and Donations for the People of Haiti
An earthquake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale rocked parts of Haiti today leveling a hospital and sending the island residents screaming and running for their lives.
It is the biggest earthquake to hit the tiny island nation in history and officials fear there will be many casualties. At this time, aprts of the island is in darkness due to power outages which is making it difficult to emergency and medical crews to reach the injured and assess the damage.
Singer/songwriter Wyclef Jean, formerly of The Fugees, is so worried about the people in his homeland that he took to his Twitter page this evening to ask for Prayers and donations.
He wrote, “Haiti just got hit with a Major EarthQuake please call your family out there Now.”
Less than an hour later, he followed that tweet with an update and a plea for support.
He wrote, “Tsunami watch n haiti right now! People unite… Haiti just been hit again with a 5 point 9 earthquake! Please Pray.”
Wyclef also asked his followers to donate money to his Yele Haiti charity organisation: “Please text ‘Yele’ to 501501 to donate $5 to YELE HAITI.Your money will help with relief efforts. They need our help… please help if you can.” Read more…

Keri Hilson Covers Jet Magazine
So I just found out a little while ago that Keri Hilson thanks me in the credits on her album, In a Perfect World, which dropped last year. I will never say a disparaging word about Keri again. Why didn’t anyone know she shouted me out on her album credits?
Obviously, I feel a little ashamed for all the nasty things I’ve written about her music on this blog in the past. And to be brutally honest, I’ve never even listened to her album. All along I’ve been dogging her out based on others’ opinions of her music rather than judging her music for myself.
So today, I’m going to go out and buy IAPW because our R&B artists need our support.
Oh, by the way, Keri covers the current issue of JET magazine. The rumors are growing louder that Keri and a female member of her entourage are lovers — even though the lady is married with kids. But Usher’s current girlfriend Grace Miguel is married too, right?
Whether Keri’s a lesbun or not remains to be seen. But when asked what she prefers in a man, Keri said, “I like a guy that is wise and can stimulate me with conversation.. I don’t fancy entertainers or ballplayers.”

There’s only a few genuine diamonds thrown in mixed with Hip Hop ice and rhinestones, which we all know is worth a couple hundred bucks. Trust I will be scanning the Internets for the fool who purchases this artwork so I can post his picture and laugh at him. Jay Z will probably buy it himself just to save face… literally. There’s 22,500 stones in there….on their website, they don’t specify the ration of real stones to rhinestones, but at that size, those diamonds would be multiple carats each?
