It’s a sad fact of life that the black community has the highest AIDS/HIV rates, single mother households, teenage pregnancies and the highest abortion rate in the country (3x more abortions than any other race).

“There is no doubt that Procreation of this group should be stopped” said the director of Planned Parenthood in this controversial ad aimed at slowing the rate of abortions in the black community.

Although that billboard was a bit severe, I understand their message. I know a few females who instead of using a birth-control method such as the pill, the patch, the shot, or condoms decide to just have an abortion whenever they become pregnant. It’s disgust me knowing that, because it’s so simple to avoid putting yourself in that predicament. Wrap it up or go see a doctor and get a traditional birth-control method.

Well very briefly, the video is referring to eugenicist Margaret Sanger who founded Planned Parenthood which is primarily an institution aimed at the degradation and eventual eradication of the black family.

If all doctors provided abortion statistics, the pool would be much larger. Subsequently, it can be assumed that the percentage of black abortions would decrease once you add the “other” abortions that have not been included in this stat.

I hate statistics. Blacks make up (give or take) 13% of America. Of that 13% Black women make up 8% of America. Now how the heck can we do anything 3X’s as much as white women when they are clearly the majority. When you are comparing a small group to such a large majority it will always appear that way.

I don’t believe that 40% of all African American pregnancies end in abortions. You have to look at who they are counting, and who they aren’t. One stat says we are killing off our unborn. Another says that we are having too many children. And a third says that our percentage of the overall population isn’t really changing. By selecting your data pool, you can get statistics to say whatever you want. You need to see where they are getting their data from, before you assume their statistics are even remotely accurate.

Most of the stats that say we’re having too many kids, are saying so out of wedlock. The abortion statistics don’t contradict those numbers.

I’ll agree with you however that these statistics might not be all that accurate though.

I understand where you’re coming from, but why cant it simply be maybe that they do want to have kids but just haven’t come across a sutible partenr, or maybe aren’t where they want to be in life just yet, or isn’t married, and with all these things thats stopping them they still have sex but haven’t became pregnant because they are precatious.

yawn! Once again, people assume that Blacks are so stupid all you have to do is throw the word racism around with a funky beat and here we come running! I am VERY pro-choice and its obvious that Black women access abortion services more than others in poor communities because we are least likely to have health insurance or be educated on being empowered about our bodies. We know many Black girls grow up in homes where even thinking about sex will get you called, “fast” and beaten. Maybe if we educated our girls and installed self-esteem in them, they wouldn’t be so willing to have unprotected sex. Maybe Margaret Sanger made racist comments, but that doesn’t take away the validity of abortion.

Not to mention, these are the SAME people who look at single Black mothers crooked eye and shake their heads when they see these same Black women with these children who they claim they want to save.

Good morning All, boy is this a touchy subject for me. First of all, I personally know 2 ladies, in their early 30s, one has 7 kids, one has 11, both single, unemployed and uneducated. The one with 7 children once told me that if she’d had all her children, counting miscarriages and abortions, she would have 11 children. The one with 11 children, I don’t know of her child-bearing decisions. That said, black women are fu@king and having unprotected sex, simple as that. Many believe that their booty is their temple and most black men worship this so-called temple and they go from there. As far as these stats are concerned, the HIV one is on target. We had an HIV speaker at church last wk and you could hear a pen drop as he rolled off these terrible stats: 95% OF ALL new HIV cases in the nation live in DC and 45% of these new cases are young, black women. He said we’re still living in the “don’t ask, don’t tell” stage. Ha, we’re in this “don’t ask, don’t tell” stage for most maladies that plague our communities: black on black crime, teen pregnancies, high-school dropouts, diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, heart disease, you name it. Things, diseases or situations that we should avoid, we seem to head right into them, daring someone to say something or object. I am pro-choice but its the choices in life that we make that often come back to haunt us, that is, if we live long enough. It’s all true. It is actually no surprise about our high abortion rates if you know the history of Planned Parenthood. It originated in the 1920s with Margaret Sanger and other eugenists who believed that the population of “undesirables” should be controlled. So as her organization morphed into what is known today as PP, they INTENTIONALLY build most of their clinics in predominantly black neighborhoods so that we will partake of their abortion services. PP is the #1 provider of black abortions. Black people need to get a clue and use birth control, take care of our health, and stop being so careless with our seed and sexuality. This is some bull! Caucasion girls abort way often than blacks! I used to intern at Planned Parenthood and trust 90% of the girls coming in for abortion referrals were WHITE!

This has to be a biased study. Many black girls are keeping their babies hence the high birth rate of our teens!
