Christine Beatty, mistress of ex-Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, is looking for a new start. So she's reportedly moving to Atlanta, according to the AJC.

Beatty, 39, wants to put some distance between herself and her sordid past as the jump off to the married Kilpatrick. Both Beatty and Kilpatrick served time in prison for lying under oath about their affair. The scandalous affair came to light after a Detroit newspaper published some of the thousands of explicit text messages sent between the lovers.

Beatty has already landed a new consulting job in Atlanta, where she will live with her two daughters, according to Detroit newspapers. Beatty attended Howard University during the time Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed was a student there.

Interestingly enough, I saw Reed shopping at Lenox Square Mall last month, and he was with a woman who closely resembles Beatty.

Studies show that 60% of married men cheat on their wives with co-workers in the work place. Beatty served as Kilpatrick's chief of staff from 2002 to 2008.

  • free

why do they all want to come here? not only scandalous because of the cheating but she also lied during a cover up that cost a couple of police their jobs. their lawsuits are costing detroit a pretty penny.

  • GeeWeezy

Kinda of have a sneaking suspension we'll be see her on the city council in a couple of months.

  • Nina

I was thinking the same thing...Kasim better watch out.

  • luvly1957

She will probbably be working for him or he helped get her the job.

  • Princess Smarty-Pants

I'm beginning to think 'golddigger' is both over AND mis used.

For the women having and using babies as income (Royce Reed, Knight Jones, Porschla Coleman--I'm talking to you and your kind), yep, call them golddiggers.

However, if you bust down for little more than bubble gum and fruit snacks with ne regard to their relationship status-well that's just trifling. (Fanny, AK, Kate Hudson stand up please)

Yeah, let's bring that word back.

  • CivilEngineer

According to Sandra, the men of Atl (and everywhere else in her head) are more likely to cheat with men so maybe it was a bad decision for her to move there

  • Princess Smarty-Pants

I meant kelis having baby Knight, but someof y'all nodded anyways becasue you knew who I was talking about...

  • ~B

I feel sorry for her daughters...I know it was hard for them by staying there...maybe she is mving there for them...who knows?

Guess she wanted a new start....Hope ATL ready ;)

Everyone deserves a second chance. She is blackballed in Detroit. Also, Detroit is suffering majorly in the present economy so it would be very difficult for her to get her feet on the ground there. I am so so happy that someone is giving her another opportunity. I was once fired from a professional job and my former employer did everything to ensure that I did not work anymore. Well, by GOD's Grace, I was able to rise above the negativity and my life has been nothing short of a blessing since that time. I ended up with a more fulfilling career, a Master's degree, relocated to a wonderful Northeastern city, and will begin working on my Doctorate in 2011. Bottom line, everyone deserves a second chance. She has been completely and utterly humbled by this experience (Sandra, she was in jail...not prison) and I believe GOD has a great future in store for her in Atlanta. How many of us have never made a stupid mistake in life?

  • KayCeiSoul

Everyone deserves a second chance. Christina and Kwame's relationship was deeper than most think - she was not your average jump-off. He dated her BEFORE he married his wife Carlita, and held a flame for her (and she for him) since their high school days. This definitely does not condone what went down, because I could have cracked both of their heads for all the scandal and lost money they caused the city. Detroit will be in recovery for a very long time.

I really don't believe she's moving to ATL to try to take nobody's man. It's not that serious. Black women from the "D" with some sense already know that ATL is not the prime place to find a straight mate, but it is still a beautiful place to start over due to the plethora of business opportunities.

She don't want y'all Mayor, and probably nobody else's husband either. That chile got whupped up on, (somewhat deservingly)and I believe she's learned her lesson.

  • KayCeiSoul

DANG JEWEL!!!! SAME PAGE LIKE A MOFO!

  • KaraZ

How come she's not serving some kind of a sentence? You mean you can perjure yourself in court and not be in jail for a long time?

  • Jewelry

    ;)

  • Jewelry

She has served 90 days in jail and is currently paying restitution to the City of Detroit to the tune of $100,000.00. She is current on her payments. GOD Bless her and may much success be in store for her and her children in Atlanta, Georgia.

  • Karamelkisses76

I saw this at AJC this morning and gave a side eye to the line about Kasim. I'm sure they included that tidbit of information with a smirk.

  • SugarPieHoneybunn

It aint no funnnn, if the homies can haaaaveeeeee none!!!!!

  • Adair

@ Kay- Cosign!! She really took a beating here! I almost/kind of sort of felt sorry for her. Due to their past relationship, she really thought he was going to leave his wife for her.

  • KayCeiSoul

@ KaraZ - she already did her time. She has restitution to pay now, and the woman has to take care of her kids, you know?

She can't be expected to pay for this mistake forever.

  • CHARBEE1

She has learned her lesson on cheating. I doubt she will be trying to get with Kasim or any other married man. The DUBM SHIT SHE DID COST HER LOTS OF MONEY AND ONE HELL OF A POSITION WITH THE CITY OF DETROIT. HELL KWAMES WHOLE CREW IS GETTING SCREWED OVER. IN DUE TIME HE WILL TOO.

  • KayCeiSoul

@ Adair - thank you, so did I. Once all the text messages came out, I realized he was really in her head. He was spending time with her kids, she was spending time with his kids, she left her husband because she wasn't happy, a whole lot of things were going on. She was Kwame's road dawg; they travelled, spent time together, actually loved each other. As wrong as it was, this was one time that she had grounds to believe that he was straight up about what he was saying to her about leaving, and he recently stated on the news that he "still loves her very much", right after they hit his big pockets for that $300,000 in 60 days. LMAO!

I can't lie - I know how it feels to really love someone hard, and how it feels to keep hoping that one day...just one day...!!! I eventually got over it.

But I couldn't have had an affair with Big Sexy (that's what we jokingly call him in my office) like that, all in their home, around the kids, faking it. That would have tore me apart. But then again, that's the part that's tearing her apart right now I believe. Love will have your mind turned all kinds of ways.

i hope those police that she messed over are getting a second chance. it was all tongue and bubblegum then. i wouldn't be surprised at all if she wound up working for the Sordid of Atlanta. The Mayor needs a beard.

    *****************************************

What other police Free? She (along with Kwame) was only proven to conspire against one police officer, and he hit the city with a multi-million dollar law suit because of it, and won.

I would just hate for our people in ATL to make her feel unwelcome after all she's been through here in the city. God did not create her to hold her head in shame for the rest of her days. Some of us should think about something we regretted doing in the past, and imagine what life would be like if nobody ever let us forget. Damn that is harsh, cruel, and unjust.

  • Adair

@ Kay- Yes!! I could only imagine how she felt! I will admit, at first I was mad at her "for being so stupid and falling for a married man," but as information began to leak it was easy to see how and why she fell so hard for him.

Oh wow, I missed when he said he still loves her!

  • CHARBEE1

Those kids are gorgeous and there father is very much in their lives. I actually feel sorry for her because I believe we as woman love so hard we beleive most things a man may tell us. They had a history before they ever started messing around. The bad part is that he misguided her.

@kayceisoul: She can’t be expected to pay for this mistake forever. :cosign:

    @Adair:

He did say he loves her very much. It may still be on the Final Call website. The interview he did.

  • KayCeiSoul

@ Adair - yes he did! My mouth was on the floor. That was raw emotion right there. He said he still loves her and will ALWAYS have love for her. Not to say that he was discounting his love for his wife, but he let it be known by those words that Christina was not in it alone.
    HOTDamn in the City! LOL!

    @ KayCeiSoul:

HONEY 3 OFFICERS GOT PAID AND ONE OF THEM IS ON THE COUNCIL....GO UNCLE GARY BROWN.!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • KayCeiSoul

    Oh ok - thanks CHARBEE1!!! :)

Yes! I was hollering up some stuff when Gary Brown won! I didn't know at the time all this was going to come out, but I knew he wasn't sueing for nothing. Most officers take that mess to the grave, and live life mistreated and overlooked. That was a brave thing Gary Brown did. At the end of the day, everyone deserves justice and a second chance.

  • SangriaSugar

She does deserve a second chance...none of us are perfect.

Plus I'm sure she learned her lesson about the wrong and right ways of dealing with married men. You can love a man with all your heart but if he is not doing right by you as a WOMAN, especially a woman with little girls, then let him be cause one day he may end up getting his and it won't be pretty.

  • Jewelry

We forget that the Bible teaches us to judge the behavior with RIGHTEOUS INDIGNATION...not SELF-RIGHTEOUS INDIGNATION. To judge a person with self-righteous indignation is to condemn a person for the rest of their lives for indiscretions that HE (The Almighty) has already forgiven. I can judge (do an assessment) of this situation and see how wayward emotions, adultery, dishonesty, lying, cheating, stealing, etc. will wreak havoc in my life if I follow the same path. What she has experienced should be an example for women in the same boat to utilize to judge their behavior if they are emotionally and sexually involved with a married man. At the same time, we have to take the focus off of Ms. Beatty and realize that a merciful GOD is piecing her life back together. Unless you have had everything taken from you because of your folly, you cannot begin to imagine the amount of anguish she is currently experiencing. Starting over in the midst of humiliation is hard...yet necessary.

  • Jessie

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone! Welcome to Atlanta Christine. God bless you!!

  • CorporateHoodB-tch

@Jewelry---Eloquent summarization. Inspiring closing argument for the defense.

However, if it were my husband...my reaction would probably be considered SELF-RIGHTEOUS. I would act as a judge, jury and execute the punishment on them both myself.

Detroit has been put threw the ringer behind her and Kwame. I wonder where all the money in the city went? The city is in shambles and schools are closing. Yet, fresh out of the pen I see this broad with over a Thousand dollars worth of gear on.... Yuck. They help destroy Detroit and move on. Good Luck, Texas and Georgia... Sad.

  • http://oneperfectassistant.com ggouch

I thought that was so disrespectful towards his wife and kids when he did that, he could have kept that to himself. His wife has to live with knowing her husband is still in love with someone else and the whole world knows about it. Kwame although from Detroit is well known outside of Detroit for being a young Mayor, he was on "The Today Show, a few yrs ago, with his pimped suit and diamond earrings, I saw right through him. I know Kwame and Christine have history, she divorced her husband but he stayed with his wife, he only wanted to have his cake and eat it too. There are many women who were with the man first and inturn become the "mistress". You had your turn, move on. Most men don't divorce their wife for the mistress, they divorce because the wife got fed up and filed for the divorce.

HMM do any of you guys know this woman just cuz she said she change don't mean nothing, I don't feel sorry for her, there's no reason to entertain a married man she got what was coming to her. As ne ne leaks would say "close ya legs to married men"

And how many people have went to jail and back in two weeks they say the same thing to. Then they right back on the block, anyhow I don't know her so I can care less. However nobody's perfect but you sure can't change your past no matter where you move. Let that be a lesson to cherish your name, and know your worth because once the damage is done ain't no turning back. I believe women dragged Tiger Woods saying he got what he deserved, this woman had a husband she had no business entertaining a married man in the first place. I don't care how many wolf tickets he sold she paid the price because she broke her vowels to her husband. The raft of God is something else. Anyhow we all live and learn and grow and hopefully she won't lay up with nobody else husband. But is there that many single man in ATL?

  • Cinderella

@Nichelle :cosign: Christine and Kwame deserved the backlash they received from their affair. You can't do wrong and expect anything good to come out of it.

What studies? Anywho, if Miss Beatty is a gold digger she sure does put a lot or work into the digging that she does. She was already a college graduate with a bomb job when the affair started AND she was a law school student while it was going on. Not to mention Kwame is not wealthy. He's just a middle class dude. What part of the gold digging game is that? No doubt she is a home wrecker (HER home got wrecked), but she's no gold digger.

  • http://myspace.com/thegameoncw Bird

Ok, just read the comments and have to laugh at this wonderful love story you all are describing. Kwame loves this woman so much that he threw her under the bus and is still with his wife. Not to mention he is a ho who was sleeping with every woman he could get his hands on at the same time he was with Christine. If he made that disrespectful comment that he is still in love with her it was probably to lure her back into an affair with his trifling azz. Some great love story this is not. I feel sorry for his wife who for whatever reason continues to take this man's abuse.

  • shannon04

I agree with so many of you. I'm sure she's trying to restructure her life and is not coming there to do the same mess as before(messing with married men). I'm sure we all have been given another chance at some point in our life.

  • http://nwmasssmedia.com NichelleWalker/nwmasssmedia.com

second chance at what cleaning up your ho act? I'm confused at that maybe it's just me. Hell when people breaks laws they get a record and they suffer because it's hard for them to find a job. But nobody is to blame but themselves, this thing happens everyday thats why we should not give our youth a messages of second chances. But tell them the truth once the damage is done you CAN NOT erase it period. No matter how much you go to church, no matter how holy you get your past can not be erase and will effect your life some kind of way. That's why the teen pregger is up now because everybody is telling these kids it's okay to do whatever because they can fix it later when we all know its a lie. Once it's done you have to walk with it, and yes we all need forgiveness but even the bible tells you "you can forgive and not forget." so with that being said please watch your step

I don't want to always sound preachy we always say it's not a big deal but look at the world now. You can't even go to walmart without seeing a teen belly sticking out. And there sleeping around and do not think nothing of it because the world doesn't see anything wrong with it. Shame I'm glad my grandma told me once a ho always a ho so protect your name.....and I never wanted to be called a ho so I skipped out on anything that ho's do and that goes for men and women

  • http://dahoneyhive.blogspot.com ryand91

::shaking my head:: Well to all my ATL women with powerful husbands you'd better be watching her and watching him too. It's a shame she slept with her sorority sister's husband. And then LIED about it costing numerous people their careers including her own.

SN: Whatever happened with the murder case of that Detroit stripper who was connected to Kilpatrick?

  • KayCeiSoul

Ok now, there's some folks who sound really angry up and through here. Some of that anger may be justifiable if this was YOUR situation but it isn't, and maybe if it was, you'd see the light, make a change, and want to put that azz whipping, crime and hurt behind you and move on with your life. This is not the Scarlet Letter...only God can judge Christine, that's all I'm saying.

Every woman may not have gone to the extreme of what Christine did in reference to what some deem to be "ho shyt", but please...we've all had our moments with men (and not necessarily married men)so unless somebody up in here can call themselves the Virgin Mary, then I will hold up on singing my version of "Holy, Thou Art Holy". On to the next one....

Now...I am NOT condoning what they did, I said that much before, but just speaking to the underlying reasons as to why I personally feel she should not have to be eagle eyed when she relocates. Relocation is a fresh start; old shyt stank. I don't feel the need to persecute Christine for what she's paid for already (in many different ways).

I am from Detroit. I have family that still lives right in the city although I live in the suburbs. I grew up in Detroit and Memphis. I see the effects of what many different scandals have had on the city of Detroit. There's no more right in this than any other political scandal, but also, no more wrong.

@Ggouch -thanks babe...always feel free to speak your mind; I am not easily offended. I know from previous posts that you have zero tolerance for "ho-shyt". LOL! But do we stay mad if her ways have changed? Those who feel they can put their husbands on lock if she hasn't changed(which I think she has) are in for a rude awakening. A man who gets down like that is going to get down like that; ain't shyt a wife can do but divorce dat azz. It takes two to tango.

@Bird - Yes ma'am - maybe what Kwame said was disrespectful to his wife, but I've always felt they had to have some type of understanding, because ain't no way as my husband he would have been spending all that time with her. I say no.

@ryand91 - The stripper scandal is still being investigated. The courts just ordered that all the records be released. I don't know how to think about that...how the fluck can a party be kept a secret? How do people not know whether there was a party or not at the Manoogian Mansion, which is right off one of the busiest streets on the Eastside - Jefferson - 5 minutes away from heart of the city? Hmmm...Hot damn in the city.
