True, however, Keisha is young and she’s got talent. When we saw her dysfunctional drug addict family I think we all said OK! Now I undersand why she acts and talks like that. It makes sense. In a weird type of way it made her seem less ghetto more likeable. We could see tangible maturity by her actions and they way she communicated.

Since I’ve been back so close to the coast, I have been seafood crazy. I had a lobster lastnite and tonight I’m having shrimp and corn chowder. I can’t tell you how many clams I’ve had. It’s ridiculous. The lobster was a treat to myself since I didn’t have a Valentine.

Hey @ Kwall- the best advice I can give when u have a contract job that you don’t like is: tell everyone in there that you meet a different story about yourself. Embellish a little bit on each story. It’s so much fun when they say stuff like, but I thought you got that scar from the time you pulled that kid away from the pack of wolves. Hey don’t job, it makes for an interesting work day.
It’s so much cheaper here. I’m going to my cousin’s house in the Cape and I plan to eat all the seafood out the sea.

@Ebony I got the hook up cause I have been with t mobile for 10yrs so I actually pd the same for my new phone as I did my old one which wasnt bad since my contract wasnt up yet. You can pay for your new payment over time you dont have to pay all at once IF you have to pay full price I found that out from a girl at school who works for t mobile. I believe you can break your payments up over 17-18mths. I cant wait to get my new phone wed. I had to order one to get it at the cheap price.

I loved “Starting Over” and Rhonda is great. Nothing wrong with a life coach, my child has a degree in Social Work, Family and Health and Marriage Counseling, but she still talks to somebody about her won life. Do you remember Deborah not pronounce Debra on Startng Over, she was a lying mess.

When I checked on my daugher is was still early, I’m with you about cutting off the liquids. My daughter came home from school with a fever and I was giving her liquids but she had extra empty squeezer bottles I found while cleaning up her mess. Later I realized she had the chicken pox, I have 3 kids and she is the oldest. For six weeks I had to deal with the trickle effect of my daugher coming home from school with chicken pox. Her siblings caught them also. Talk about a miserable experience. I had a 5 yr old a 3 yr old and a 1 yr old.

Six weeks is along time, what employer is going to let you have six weeks off work. I didn’t work at the time and I was still living w/their father. I have heard of daycare centers that specialize in dropping off sick but not too sick kids so parents can still go to work. Even kids with chicken pox.

It amazes me how many throw away kids we have. Congrats at doing what you do. It can’t be easy. Some kids go home to no male figure in the home and a mom only 15 yrs. older than them.
@Ebony….I had that problem as well. I think it helps me help my students. I can identify with their struggle and provide tools/technique for them to overcome this obstacle.
Also, he helps them see that they can be successful academically if I did. I’m very honest with my students. Which is how I connect and build rapport.

I can see both sides of the coin. Some kids do need a outsider to get it and it becomes your reward. My youngest tutors a couple of kids a few times a week. She loves the reward she gets when the parents tell them about how much their child has progressed. She changed her major from Premed to Early Childhood education. I am so proud of her. A career is not always about the money but ones passion.

I can see both sides of the coin. Some kids do need a outsider to get it and it becomes your reward. My youngest tutors a couple of kids a few times a week. She loves the reward she gets when the parents tell them about how much their child has progressed. She changed her major from Premed to Early Childhood education. I am so proud of her. A career is not always about the money but ones passion.

Yes Anna my first group of students I started teaching in 2002 (who were 7th graders)continue to find me on facebook and update me. It’s so rewarding knowing you had a small impact. I always tell new teachers when I interview them, if they can become comfortable with not knowing you made a difference on a daily basis they will be fine. Sometimes the reward comes in June, sometimes it comes the following year….sometimes it comes 5-10 years later or not all.

My daughter can easily get distracted if her closet door is open. If we stand in line too long she has to leave me to look at something shiny. I thought she was just playing and hinting for me to buy her a piece of jewelry.

@Anna…yeah your daughter may have a slight case of ADD. She should check with her school’s Student Support office to see what services they can provide. I work at a special education school and we have students to graduate and attend college. We as the school always try to find encourage them to seek out support on campus because it’s there. Most people don’t know it though.

Well those bey bey kids run into him and thank him for what he did for them. He is a softie when it comes to my kids. I disapline my kids , they have a dad. Hubby is the peace maker and would hear me and my kids debate things, all the while he’s in the kitchen baking cookies or a cake.

Yes, the reward does come later. When I do things I don’t expect anything. My hubby has no kids w/or w/out me. He dated women with kids and he did not play, he tells me stories that if my kids were bey beys kids we would have lasted one week.

My daughter self diagnosed herself with OCD habits. She is just particular. But she does need to make better study habits. I gave her my old computer stand. It’s in her bedroom and she is more organized with her studies and I noticed less stress in her. She is very paitent with kids in general but more so the ones she tutors.

@The1911 Yes I have vol. for almost 10yrs now. I stopped being as active when I went back to school but I still check in with my rug rats. I saw some of them Sun. Most are in college now man how time flies. As for the other topic I am working on being more open and less uptight/reserved as my friends love to call me.

I was pissed because I’m very hands on yet hadn’t received a note, phone call or anything and when I spoke with the teacher she had no advice on how to help she just said well some kids are slow. I sat down every night with flash cards and books enlisted my older kids to help and now she’s at the top of her class 3 months later. More teachers should care like you two

Some teachers are only teaching for a paycheck. For her to say that some kids are slow, showed her true colors. A true teacher will assist a parent and lead them in the right direction or will ask if a parent will allow their child after school tutoring. Parental involvement is important. A good teacher does not send the kid(s) home with just a report card. Most teachers will send home a daily report or even call a parent, if the child is in peril. I have never had a teacher do that for me or my child(ren) but real teachers do take the time to do it for at risk kids, or the kids that they know have potential. Ms. Everything, you are doing for your child what all parents should be doing. Our kids belong to us and these days we can’t expect any school to raise our kids, a school is not a babysitter, because some parents had to get off their butts and get a J O B. Our kids still belong to us and it’s nice to have support and for our kids to excell but we/I can’t blame everybody if my kid does not get it. It just means that I have to be more proactive and make a plan. I am talking in the past tense, my kids are either in or out of college. A fresh out of college teacher has to find their nitch, just as a old school teacher has to realize times have changed. I just want more parental involvement, we can’t blame everything on the teacher(s).
Anna you’re right which is why I put everything into making sure she got the help she needed and I’m just thankful that it worked. It really caught me off guard at the time though because there were no signs, we did homework every night and she was following the homework with my help she was just having trouble retaining it and i’d never had that experience with a teacher before. It made me wonder about the other kids if any who were simply written off as slow or hopeless a quarter into kidnergarten and may not have had the support that my child had. I remember when I held the conference with her she actually began by stating that retention isn’t the end of the world and how it may be a long term benefit before she even identified the actual probelm my daughter was having so that we could work out a solution
I like Lisa Raye I’ve interviewed her a couple of times and I found her to be so down to earth. I just wish that whoever did her makeup go back to take some more continuing education courses, because that makeup job is not the bizness smh! I could have given her my glam squads contact info! I don’t walk around looking gorg all day long but for a “cover shoot”, I would have pulled out the best makeup team I had. Just saying lol

They makeup artist used red-based makeup on Lisaraye when her undertones are clearly yellow. Lisa should have made them do a re-shoot when she reviewed the proofs…
