Celeb Style: Kanye West
Troubled rapper/producer Kanye West was spotted entering a studio in Hollywood yesterday where other celebs are gathered to record a “We Are the World” type track for Haiti. Kanye is wearing a one of a kind Goyard “Robot Face” backpack that he picked up while in Paris last week.
Kanye designed the thing himself as you can tell. I’m a backpack fiend, but that is one ugly backpack. It probably cost a grip. I guess the bigger story here is that Kanye was invited to something in Hollywood. As you know, Kanye was blacklisted by Hollywood A-listers such as George Clooney. And even the GRAMMY people asked him not to bother stopping by.

When Michael Jackson died of heart failure last year, his fans took great comfort in knowing that his children would at least be free to live normal lives. Unfortunately, from the looks of things, it seems the madness continues. This image was taken of the kids backstage at the GRAMMYS with Lionel Richie after the two oldest of Jackson’s adopted children accepted a GRAMMY in his memory. It is a picture of weirdness from the forced smiles to the uniforms with the military-style armbands, to the caught in the headlights look of the youngest kid, Blanket. Will people just let them live?

Doesn’t Solange Knowles’ cute son Daniel, aka Jules, bear a strong resemblance to the comic book character Alfred E. Neuman? Neuman’s familiar, gap-toothed smile appeared on every cover of Mad magazine for decades. Jules could play Neuman if Hollywood ever makes a movie about him.

The twin daughters of entertainment mogul Sean Combs and professional gold digger Kim Porter were spotted out & about with their nannies and bodyguards in Toluca Lake, CA yesterday. How cute!
Proof that music mogul Russell Simmons does spend time with his daughters when he’s not chasing birds young enough to be his daughters. Now that their mother Kimora Lee has her son by Djimon Hounsou, she no longer needs to use her daughters as props to get attention. Simmons was spotted doing some shopping with his daughters, Ming Lee and Aoki Lee, at Fred Segal in Los Angeles, California yesterday.
Old school rapper DMX (yes, he’s old school now) dropped by the Opera nightclub in midtown Atlanta over the weekend. It wasn’t a paid appearance for him, but he got on the mic anyway and dropped a few gems for the mixed crowd.

We almost forgot that one-hit wonder Kelis was a lesbun what with all the commotion surrounding her baby daddy, rapper Nas, and that whopping child support bill he’s been ordered to pay her monthly. But now we remember after seeing this pic of Kelis leaving Voyeur nightclub last night with a LSLH honey on her arm.
With the pool of available (and straight) black men in our community dwindling rapidly, probably the worst ones to date is a rapper. In addition to the (male and female) groupies and the STDs that you have to worry about, most rappers are down low as a result of their time in prison.
They come out of prison with a chip on their shoulders and something to prove. Is it any wonder then that black women who date rappers end up turning to other women for love and affection?
