Are Good, Straight Men Becoming Scarce in Music Videos?

A loyal reader called my attention to the fact that singers such as LeToya Luckett, Monica and newcomer Dondria have begun featuring obviously down low men as leading man in their music videos. Has anyone else noticed this trend? Are down low men the new music video accessory?

Remember Dondria the youtube singer chick signed to Jermaine Dupri’s label well she has hot Springy feel love single called “Your The One” that’s been blowing up on radio airwaves for some time now. The video just came out and guess who she picked to be her leading man…. You guessed it Trey Songz alleged ex-lover Brandon Hines. Just thought I’d let you know.

And what’s up with all these ladies picking closeted men to be their love interest in videos? First Letoya Luckett with Keston Karter and now Dondria with Brandon Hines. Is a good straight man that scarce out there?

I find that interesting also, but I think it’s because they have not come out the closet. To add, someone broke it down one day about how gays and lesbians don’t get along like some ppl who bash w/in their own race.

Ummm people it’s a BIG difference between an openly gay man and a closeted down low man. Closeted down low men are the guys who act straight to impress society, but sleeping with other men and are also the ones infecting innocent women with the HIV/AIDS virus. Sandra from my 20/20 vision doesn’t appear to come for the openly gay men. It’s the cowardly down low brothas that try and play straight to fool women she appears to go for. Nowadays you can’t put being gay past any man because you never know, most especially in this entertainment industry.

Just because a person doesn’t broadcast it, it doesn’t mean he/she is down low. It means they know something about discretion and have more to offer the world other than their sexual preference.

Sandra, what’s your issue with gay men? If you’re a lesbian, why do gay men bother you so?

And why can’t you separate a JOB from a person’s personal life? Does a woman’s attraction to other women make her LESS attractive to men? And if not, why does a man’s attraction to other men lessen his sex appeal to other women. True, it may hurt the fantasy that they could someday get with old boy, but on the real, he’s playing a role – are you suggesting that roles in movies/videos should only go to STRAIGHT men?
