1) Chris didn’t come out with a certified banger after this ordeal, hence his lack of a comeback. RKelly managed to release music that people were interested in, people are shallow enough to overlook most things if they can nod their head to a song.
2) RKelly did something that to many people appeared a consensual act. Many people feel like at 15, they were capable of making decisions for themselves so it’s hard to see a statutory crime as a REAL violation. I’m not condoning that outlook but it’s a reality. However, it’s far harder to overlook and relate to the act of beating the living hell out of your young girlfriend. There is far less grey area for people there. That’s why Rkelly made it out somewhat ok.

I just don’t get it, why did you hope that he could get his career back on track so soon? Why not instead have hoped he would have actually demonstrated profound remorse and grief over what he did instead of acting like he deserved a quick rebound? He really does display the “I said I was sorry! Damn!” attitude and it stinks to high heaven. I believe if he was a decent human being, his behavior would have sent him reeling in self-loathing and painful remorse for a while, he would have reflected on what could cause him to do something so b*tcha$$, not because he wanted to reclaim his career but because he wanted to save his soul! He did none of that! The only sadness I detected in him was how sad he was that he might not top the charts again and also perhaps sadness that Riri left his sorry a$$. That’s disturbing and suggests a real heartlessness on his part. Seeing her face like that should have had him bawling and cursing himself! If I had done something so awful I would have gone into a deep depression for a while, feeling like a monster, not posing with rappers and partying it up and CERTAINLY not go begging people to play my songs or acting shocked and dismayed that my album [which I would not have released anyway so soon] wasn’t selling! Decent human beings don’t act like that.
The kid may just have some growing to do, but in my opinion his maturity level is below average already so it’ll probably take like 20 years for him to grow a conscience and let go of his sense of entitlement and by then folks won’t want to see him anyway. You know, I was a huge fan of is before this mess, that’s why I’m so appalled with him now. He is truly talented, and it sickens me to know what a total cad he really is because I really liked him. He blew it. In the days right after it happened I wanted so badly to see him show deep remorse and devastation, and what did I get instead? His dumba$$ jet skiing and posing for pics at parties and sh*t. F**k that and f**k him.

I wish Chris luck and I had high hopes that he could get his career back, but it just doesn’t seem that it’s going to happen any time soon. He is young enough that he could take a little break and maybe go to college or something. He is very immature and could benefit from some real life experience rather than that fake ish he’s being exposed to in the industry. Come back in a few years with a clean record. I think the fans might be able to accept him then. He doesn’t have to wind up being a pariah like Ike Turner and OJ for the rest of his life. For now it ain’t happening though.

Yeah keep your head up Breezy, you poor thing, it’s too bad you weren’t rewarded for all the court enforced community service and half-assed apologies you made in between jet ski adventures and smug photo ops with other equally narcissistic and classless celebrity pals Why does everyone have to focus on all that violent domestic battery “drama” when it’s like sooooooo 2009? How many times does a guy have to say sorry into a camera [despite not doing a single other thing to demonstrate a shred of remorse] before he can go back to being a pop idol after brutally beating his famous girlfriend? No fair. Why’s everybody gotta hate? It’s almost as if people value displays of sincere introspection, remorse, and humility over teleprompter apologies! The injustice!

Unfortunately, Chris released his album, Graffiti, too soon. It is a great album, but it is overshadowed by all the drama from Feb. 09. But, Chris is so talented that he will get through this.

If you haven’t heard his mixtape, download it–It is really good. His version of “How low” is better than Ludacris. Keep your head up, Breezy.
