Fox News Cuts LL Cool J From Palin Program

Fox News released a statement about LL Cool J’s appearance on Sarah Palin’s upcoming news special — and at the same time they dissed the former rapper.

Yesterday, LL tweeted this message accusing Fox of using an old interview clip he did in 2008 and inserting in her show. But doesn’t news shows use old sound bites all the time to make a point?:

Fox lifted an old interview I gave in 2008 to someone else & are misrepresenting to the public in order to promote Sarah Palin’s Show. WOW

LL was listed as one of the guests on the premiere of Sarah Palin’s Fox News series “Real American Stories.” But yesterday, a Fox News spokesperson told TVNewser:

“Real American Stories features uplifting tales about overcoming adversity and we believe Mr. Smith’s interview fit that criteria. However, as it appears that Mr. Smith does not want to be associated with a program that could serve as an inspiration to others, we are cutting his interview from the special and wish him the best with his fledgling acting career.” Read More…

Yes, she actually said “fledgling acting career.” Ouch.

he’s black so it’s hard to believe sarah failin would have anything positive to say about him.

FauxNews is full of it. If MSNBC used Rush Limbaugh’s words to promote a liberal agenda they’d be marching with their teacups.

  • KrayZKat

Maybe “Mr. Smith” didn’t want to be associated with anything Sarah “I can see Russia from my house” Palin, and I can’t say I don’t blame him.

  • KrayZKat

correction: and I don’t blame him.

    Eh, what a nerve!

  • pointhimout

it didn’t seem LL wanted out, or didn’t want to be associated with it. i got the impression he was irked that they used an old clip in their promos. i’m confused, but whatever.

“fledgling” really Fox. too funny. did any of us ever watch a movie because LL was in it? He’s a great supporting actor, or part of a cast. i’d never watch a show cuz he’s on it, case in point, CSI L.A. I dont even watch Hill Harper’s version, and I think he’s a great actor. Some people just dont have that appeal. there’s 2.

  • Anna

Unless he was saying something negative does it matter who shows an old clip?

  • ms.truth

Palin is as dumb as they come. Who actually thought it was a good idea to vote her into office, much less consider her for vice president.

And the female newscasters at FOX are as dumb as they come also. They get passes because they look like barbies with their dark tans and blonde hair. makes me sick. they seem to hate black people but want to look like us…dark skin, big lips, big boobs, big butts.

    -end of my rant-

  • Krysi J

    so!

James Todd Smith’s response should have been:

“I thank the Fox network for their interest in using older clips of my interviews in the special they are airing on Ms. Sarah Palin. However, I do wish my permission had been asked first before circulating the clip. I thank Fox for their unconditional support of various media propaganda and I wish them and Sarah Palin the utmost support in her tries at political and social success.

    Thank you.”

  • kwall

Dearest Former Gov. Pailin…who can see Russian from her house…
A successful black man is probably the WORST thing EVER huh? Well in Todd’s defense Ms. Pailin…he too has teens and you have yet to hear if THEY are teen parents. So he must be doing something right.

And his fledgling acting career must be along the SAME lines as your fledgling political career? Todd has more money that you or your oil rig working husband will EVER see no matter what race you enter, or how many books you write…so just satchoazz down…

Your sister in Christ (you do believe in God don’t you?),

@22 Yes he has been working since he was 15 yo…most of that time for Russ…Who pays his artists well. Add in the movies and TV shows…throw in some tour money…yep.
I mean if he had been signed to Bad Boy for the past 25 years I would say no…but as a Def Jam artist…yes.

  • maliasasha

These crackers are forever trying to perpetrate…I’m glad LL called their hatefull arses on that. At least they could have paid him or asked permission. Afterall, Sarah Palin and Pimpin’ Todd are getting paid. But I don’t expect you to understand SR. SMDH

  • CivilEngineer

So what “type” of people are they going to interview on her show? Will they really be people that overcame adversity (probably now republicans) or just rich republicans? I guess it’ll be on when I’m at the gym…so excited about watching (read sarcasm)

  • The Divine Ms. K

Umm, the story is that Fox was gloating about having LL on the show, basically saying they can’t be racists since he’s black.

In response, LL said that the interview was an old one he had done with someone else. In other words – he never sat down with Palin and did the interview and he is right in being upset about it being shown like he did.

A sound bite is one thing – but they were using an interview and saying it was done by Palin. That’s a lie.

And I’d hardly call his career fledgling. And for a PR person to say something like that – that’s extremely catty and biting – is NOT a testimony to their professionalism.

@ Ms. Truth – TELL IT! Tans, big butts, full lips, cornrows! The list goes on and on…

  • AllNYC

It doesn’t matter that the show was meant to be “inspirational”. The show was going to be a fraud.
I guess the motto at Faux News is if you can’t get the news honestly, you just steal it or make it up.
As for the “fledgling career” jab, I know that didn’t hurt LL at all. He has been a succesful working actor since before Sarah Palin began her political career. Check the resume.
