Louis Stewart Gray Suede Backpack

Last week I told you about the Louis Stewart Collection line of high end custom made bags that’s about to take over the streets. Designer Louis Stewart worked at Louis Vuitton for a year before leaving to start his own line of pricey bags. The bags aren’t available in stores yet. But you can order your own custom made piece by visiting the website.

A couple of days ago, Louis Stewart sent me a gray suede backpack from their line (my friend is modeling it above). I get compliments on that bag every where I go — even in the Louis Vuitton store! The bags are in high demand right now amongst NFL and NBA players.

I saw a man last night at the Tyler Perry WDIGMT premiere with a custom gator Louis Stewart duffle bag. So word is getting out. The line ranges from $2,500 and up.

More after the break!

Maybe it’s just me….but I can’t justify paying $2500+ for some regular looking ass bags! I mean them things dont come with a more decorative pattern? Some Swarovski crystals? Beads? Bedazzled jewels? Spikes? Prongs? Hell, does it have a secret compartment that pops out with a password like some 007 sh*t? I mean…like Kanye said: “Whats the basis?”

He’s not a tried & true fashion house like Chanel, Gucci or Hermes. That’s just ole “Louis from down the street. Remember? Dude that used to always have a nice backpack?! Yeah! HIM!”
    -
I’ma need him to get real with his prices and his $15 dollar YouTube commercials. Maybe he should start his bags around $250…..or $25 at Target.

@Lady I dont support any coture high end designers  I want a pair of CLs/red bottoms but if I ever get a pair they will be on a damn good sale or off e bay

I am all about supporting black businesses(when they do things decent and in order that is) I broke my neck to try and support Rachel Roy when she hit Macys but I didnt see anything that appealed to me.

Wish I could afford some Tracey Reese as well her dresses are cute some of them.

However, if anybody plans to blow $2500 on a backpack…I wish they would do it with a black owner.
Now, as with any high end company…if the product falls apart…I want a good refund/exchange with good customer service policy in place.

    @DivaPT

No-I haven’t and you are right…they do lack style. There’s nothing about them that would make me go “ooooohhh!!” Theere’s no pizazz, no shine, no drama, no nothing! LOL!

And I do agree with supporting our Black designers, I really do. But if something is plain…it’s just plain and not worth my money! Same thing for the White fashion houses. Gucci, Alexander McQueen and Tracy Reese (Black) have put out some things where I’ve been like “If only I had the money” and they’ve also put out some things where I’ve said: “Not EVEN if I DID have the money!” I don’t discriminate. If it’s hot, it’s hot…if it’s plain & boring…well…

    @ LADYWOODS

i dont think its about supporting black. but hes no tom ford. tom ford designed for gucci and u knew his name.

so what did he design for LV? he could have been a zipper designer for all i know.

i dislike the bags because of the videos, the z-list celebs he tries to get to promote them, knowing damn well he gave them away for free. and they just ugly. they look like leather jansports.

no one wants that crap because its whack. people know quality when they see it. and that’s not quality. its just store bought fabrics made into the same patterns over and over again. they arent even nice styles.

he probably dont even sew them himself. probably has some little chinese lady in the back busting a sweat trying put this sh*t together.

    louis needs to try again.

Even though his name is Louis i think he should have gone with another name for his line because when i see “Louis” written, I automatically think of LV. I can already see some of these celebs shouting out “look at my louie bags” (even though his name is pronounces Lewis).

  44. 44
    ajonesy says:

    @ SR

I think “Status Official” is only relative to where u live. Lets be real. You seem to think the ATL is fashion forward. But trust me it’s not.

And the term “millionaires” is subjective. Outside of the ball players and one or 2 rappers shown. None were millionaires.

They will mark a coach down in a min here in Nap. I also have two gucci purses. I am mean the old skool ones(pig skin leather) bought one off of ebay for $40 bucks, and the other I got from my great aunt. It was in her closet collecting dust from the eigthies. I can’t see myself paying more then $200 for a purse.

I agree somewhat. It’s no different than rocking a monogrammed LV with your Hanes sweatsuit to Wal-Mart, IMO. I’d rather rock a hand-made, well stitched duffle (he can keep the back pack) through the airport than a hideous Coach bag ANY day. Gosh I hate all of those gigantic ‘C’s. They are ugly to me, lol.

I guess when you are a grown up thinking about mortgage payments, college funds, retirement, and things of that nature a 2,500 backpack seems a bit extreme! But that’s just me…….

with the prices set he knows who his target market is, and for them the price tag may not be extreme. he isn’t trying to target the general public. i have researched him, and he indeed came up with designs (bag designs) for LV.

i really hate the mentality some of you have, but i figure if you’ve carried this type of mentality for as long as you’ve been alived it would be pointless for me to discuss it.

i do want to comment on the “black people will buy anything” comment…there are tons of other celebrities white, black, etc who purchase these types of items because they can & have the ability to afford them.
