R.I.P. Corey Haim

They’re dropping like flies: former child actor Corey Haim became the latest Hollywood prescription drug casualty. The “Lost Boys” star collapsed and died in a bedroom of his mother’s apartment early this morning. Four bottles of prescription drugs were found in the room, according to TMZ. He was 38.
Sources say Haim got out of bed just before 1 AM and collapsed in front of his mother. She called 911 at 12:53 AM and Corey was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Corey’s mom told authorities he had been battling prescription drug addiction for years.
Authorities believe — though are not certain — Corey died of an accidental drug overdose.

Another one to add to the 2010 list… growing faster than 2009′s.
This guy has been trying to kill himself for yrs. May he RIP.
Bless his heart….
That poor woman had to watch her son die.
Hello All. So young, so sad. They don’t hesitate to put our young men behind bars for selling street drugs. Something needs to be done about all these so-called Hollywood doctors pedaling death. Peaceeeeeeee.
@Anna I really thought the other Corey was gonna die first.
RIP Corey.
@PA Its not just hollywood Drs. Its a problem all over. An addict will always find a way to get drugs.
RIP Corey Haim…..Can we get an interesting topic today? This rain isn’t doing much to help me stay awake at my desk.

I guess I mixed them up, was this Corey the married one?
nope, this corey is single.
i remember him from the show “two coreys”
RIP corey
RIP Corey.
@Anna You probably didnt. They were both messed up, but I think the other one is married. I wonder if the other Corey kicked the habit…..maybe he will now.
That is sooo sad. It seems people are taking their lives more and more each day. RIP
i thought he died in like 97? ah well RIP nonetheless
Good Morning All!
This is just a shame, These people serious need help.
RIP
Its must be a bitter sweet moment for his mom. While no one wants their child to die nonetheless in front of you but to watch your child die a slow death with Rx or any drug must hurt like hell.
I hope he is a peace now.
@vibaby
I also thought the other Corey would go first. Hope this wakes him up to clean up his act.
GOONIES!!!!!!!!! Goonies never say die.
RIP Corey. Why people open themselves up to get hooked on drugs (legal or illegal) is beyond me. I am so against drugs…even weed.
This dude as well as the other Corey and other teen stars of ‘my’ youth, man, this is just sad. But I hope he has some peace now. *says a lil’ prayer* SMH. Baby, I wish more of these folks would look at the success stories. Robert Downey Jr. has been to Hell and back…He’s of that generation of Hollyweird kids. Talented; mad talented but got into drugs. Thank God he made it out. God bless you Corey Haim. RIP.
Damn my prayers go out to his fam especially his mom who had to see her son pass before her eyes. I like others thought it was the dark haired Corey.
RIP Corey Haim.
It’s a MIRACLE Corey Haim lived as long as he did! R.I.P. you Idiot!
R.I.P. Corey!
I just saw both Coreys on TMZ and they said they were BFF after all these years
Bless his mothers heart.
Brittany Murphys mother had to watch her die as well. I listened to the 911 call and it was heartbreaking.
dang! what a sad sad situation
Wow! God Bless the Dead.
Lost Boys and License to Drive are still two of my favorite movies.
awww man!!!!!!
Pass the dutchie pon de left hand side.
So blaze up the chornic. So we can get high I promise to smoke chornic to the day that we dieeeee. It’s a doggy dog world. La la la la laaaa
I wonder what role the sexual abuse played in his drug use. He said it disturbed his soul. It’s sad when someone kills themselves, intentionally or unintentionally.
I hope parents who are thinking of letting their children enter the entertainment business look at stories like his and protect their children as best as they can, so his death won’t be in vain.
What do you say about the person with the addiction that eventually kills him…
I feel sorry for his mom. I bet she hates the day she allowed him to enter the industry and the life. I think there should be some tighter regulations on children actors, imposed on by the companies that employ them. EAP programs, pre-and post counseling on jobs, for the kids and the parents. I kow you can’t save them all, but maybe any effort to keep one grounded may keep them from growing up into adults that abuse Rx drugs because they can’t cope with the reality of life.
Dude was NOT in the Goonies…his friend Corey Feldman was.
Why aren’t actors subjected to drug test. In the “real world” if you fail a drug test you loose your job. I think the same should hold true for people in the industry.
But
This just goes to show that its the people behind the desk making money off these young people addictions. Lindsey Lohan I hope you are watching….
@Karaz @ RTB
I dont know about this Corey but I know the other Corey said his parents forced him to act. Dude made millions and had less than 40Gs when he was granted emancipation from his parents at AGE 15!!! O_o Kids in the industry can make it if their parents continue to be parents and not employees.
@ Iscream
Girl please….how would any movies be made?! The entire cast from leading actor to grip 1,2,3 fired for pissing hot.
RIP Corey Isc and VI the other Corey (Feldman) is clean. He’s been clean for awhile now. The last time I saw Corey Haim aka the cute Corey on tv was on Feldman’s show. They were trying to mend their friendship and Feldman was begging him to get clean. Feldman’s wife didn’t want him to help Corey H. because she was afraid she’s pull him back into drugs.
Who else in Hollywood died from a drug overdose because it sure wasn’t Brittney Murphy or Tila’s girlfriend. I’m especially glad that Brittney’s autopsy cleared her name because she was always accused of being a anorexic drug addict. Her autopsy showed NO history of drug abuse and that she was at a normal healthy weight for her height. Tila’s girlfriend died from complications of diabetes and taking too much Nyquil while she was sick.
I think we should start a pool for Lindsey. I mean everyone else is profiting off her foolishness, why should we miss out?
Her parents don’t love her – they love to see that $$. I know she’s an adult of free will, but if they wanted her well, the should be more pro-active – HELL, CISSY TO THE LAW WITH HER TO GET WHITNEY, AND WHIT IS DAMN NEAR 50!
I’m no Jesus freak, either, and I don’t go around quoting scripture and laying hands, but I’m willing to bet a small portion of my paycheck that if some of these celebs had a tighter relationship with SOME GOD, they would probably hold their lives in a higher regard, and likely not act such an ass.
Ana u are right this one has had issues for years…. The other Cory was married (just got divorced and has a kid, he has also been drug free for a few years now.
Its a shame that when some people die we are not surprised by it anymore…
RIP Corey
@Shauny Thanks, I googled him to see if he was still married. He has been clean for a while and Haims addiction was the reason he gave for their show not being renewed. Sad.
R.I.P Corey Haim….
Dang drugs are so addicting and it is hard for people to break them…I thought he was cleaning up but I guess he let his demons take him away…..
I just recently looked at the Corner (remember that HBO mini series). DAndre’s mom and dad were on drugs and he was a dealer. He went through SO much because of it so I was astounded that he himself ended up using because I thought he would’ve been in the mindset of I don’t EVER want to be like my parents.
I don’t know why people turn to drugs, I just hope that I NEVER be down enough on life to go that route.
RIP Corey, this is so sad. I watched their (Haim and Corey Feldman)reality show, I think it was called “The two Corey’s”. Corey Feldman was doing interventions trying to get Haim off drugs. But, Corey Haim just couldn’t stop using. I think he wanted to, but he just couldn’t. Corey Feldman has been drug free for years now.

That girl is washed up.
~~~
Did you hear she is suing the ppl behind the talking babies (Super Bowl Commercial)for saying Lindsey is a milkaholic. She is suing for 100 million.
Sad sad sad… It’s heart wrenching to turn ont he tv ot read about any one dying from a drug overdose. I htink Hollywood needs to take a look into what these actors are doing, I do believ consequences should be given out to those whose piss comes backing smoking…. No movies or no check until your piss comes back with a Mr Clean logo on it.
@Vibaby, yes some parents see their children as cash cows and stop parenting, a damn shame really. But if you look at what happened to this dude, Britney Spears, Todd bridges, heck even Naomi Campbell, you would think parents would reconsider letting their children be used to entertain the masses.
The babies never said Lindsey Lohan, just Lindsey. Lindsey said that ppl know her by Lindsey, and the commercial is defamation of character(because it’s plain to see that they were talking about her). She said ppl know her all over the world by her first name like “Madonna or Cher”. All this over being called “A Milkaholic”. She ought to be glad they didn’t call her a coke head.
WTF! Its that easy to get prescriptions in LA. Those doctors need to be investigated for real. Every body death certificate will have the same cause of death in Hollywood.
Phuck Lindsey! Not one calls her just “Lindsey” she is referred to as Lindsey Lohan….girl sit yo azz down. BTW, I love that commercial….Milk A What!!!
That ‘Lost Boys’ movie scared the crap out of me when I was a kid.
I think Kiefer Sutherland was in it as well.
May Corey rest in peace.
@Lovely One, I can’t speak for all cases with illegal drugs although I do believe addiction is a genetic trait because often you see children of addicts be it cigarettes, alcohol or drugs also becoming addicted to something and so on but I will say as far as rx drug addiction sometimes its not the persons fault. I have serious back problems and am on 6 different highly addictive pain relievers, muscle relaxers, etc and have been off and on for over a year. Should I become addicted would that be my fault? Everytime I come off the meds I go through serious withdrawals but I also have willpower and strength and each time I’ve sent my kids away for a couple days and sweated it out and then got back to business. I guess I’m saying you can’t automatically judge someone in that way over a rx drug addiction because you don’t know what led to it.
RIP Corey and God bless your poor mother and family/friends
when i was a kid i had the biggest crush on corey haim, him and his elvis lip tilt. RIP
You know me, I like to add my .02. I can sum this up quickly, some ppl just have addictive personalities(genes). I have heard some ppl say how they won’t try this or that because they know they will become addicted.
accidental overdose? are the doctor’s instructions that hard for these ppl to follow? when he says DON’T MIX DRUGS or DON’T TAKE ALL AT ONCE, he aint lyin..
RIP to him though…38 yrs old? smh
@ Anna, you are so right, I have one. The first time I picked up a cigarette I was hooked immediately. When my friends tried different drugs in our younger days, I refused. I’m the child of a heroin addict who is the child of an alcoholic. That’s why I believe its genetic. I told my mother that once all is said and done and I am healed (which I pray is soon) that she may have to put me through rehab because of the medicines that I’m on one of which is oxycotin, which is an opiate basically heroin in pill form and I’ve been on it 6 months but the pain is unbearable and I need it in combination with the other meds to be able to function and even when I’m taking the medicine I’m still in the hospital twice a month getting intravenous pain relievers when the pain becomes too intense. Some people just see an addict and write them off without knowing the history that led to it and that bothers me because addiction is an illness.
I was specifically speaking about people who “self-prescribe” their medication. I know a person right now who is taking prescription drugs and they manipulated the doctor to get them. There are many cases where ppl will research the symptoms of an illness to get the perscription.
That is what I was referring to. I should’ve been clear. Sorry for that mix up.
Thanks for explaining. I’m a bit sensitive on the topic because I’m on the meds I’m on and know its a possibility I could end up the way so many of these actors are because when you’re in pain you could give a damn what the prescription directions are you just want the pain to stop by any means possible. And I’ve also been personally affected by people with addictions but I get what you were you saying and appreciated the explanation
Thanks for sharing. I am kind of surprised that they have not prescribed you “medical” Mary Jane. I am afraid to take pain pills, I am allergic to most, found out the hard way, but I hear too many stories like yours where ppl do become addicted. My daughter had her wisdom teeth pulled and she was give a months supply of oxicodine, she took one and did not like the way they made her feel, I knew she wasn’t taking them anymore but one day I asked her what she did with them, I was too mad when she told me she flushed them down the toilet. I could have sold them.
