Apparently, rapper Jay Z is a watch fanatic like me. Watches are my one weakness. But I would never drop $37,000 for a watch with a rubber strap in this recession. They say fools and their money are easily parted, and Jay Z is living proof of that.
Here’s what he’s wearing courtesy of Upscale Hype blog:
Rap mogul Jay-Z was seen out and about in a pair of destroyed Prps jeans and a pair of Nike Dunk Hi Premium sneakers ($95) in a red oxide colorway. The shoe features a suede and nubuck upper, leather safari print on the toe cap and a gum sole at the bottom. He appears rather ordinary until you notice the extraordinary Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore watch (estimated $37,000) on his wrist. This Audemars Piguet timepiece comes equipped with a black dial illuminated by hands and hour markers, a black rubber bezel on a gold 42mm case, and a black rubber strap.
47-year-old Paula Abdul looks so young! The former American Idol judge was spotted out & about today wearing some funky white 6-inch heels with patent leather toe caps. I want to say her heels are Lanvins, but I’m not a fashionista so don’t quote me.

Rapper-turned-actor Ice T’s wife CoCo and her bulldog puppy were spotted leaving the Law and Order-SVU set in her white COCO edition Cadillac.

I only know a few ppl that wear a watch. My dad, my sis and my hubby. Most ppl use their cell phones. Not sure why my dad wears a watch being he is retired. My sis is a nurse. My hubby because if he looks on his cell phone for the time at work they will think he is using his phone. Why do ppl by expensive watches. They all tell the same time.
I own a dozen watches and if I wear one it goes w/a outfit and most are not over $50.

Watches for most is just an accessory. For some it’s to show off your wealth. We have a customer at work who has a $16,000 Rolex, he got mad when I told him it would cost $265/yr to insure it. I thought “Dude, it’s a $16,000 Rolex”. I think if you can afford the watch you can afford the insurance.

So Sandra if the straps were leather you wouldn’t criticize the purchase? I’ve grown to appreciate luxury timepieces, understated pieces like watches open doors that a common luxury item (like a Tiny owned LV for instance) wouldn’t. Personally, I want the tutti frutti steel big bang in pink for my 30th birthday, its quite pricey, but that would be a great way to start my 4th decade.
I’m a watch fanatic… Hubby turned me on to watches, I try to buy one once a year… Hubby would love to have the one Jay is rocking, buy do we need to win the lottery…
I used to wear watches in the pre cell phone days but now I buy them and never wear them. I wouldn’t pay $37 thousand on a rubber watch either
I will never understand why women will pay for boobs that big. Its not sexy its gross and you’re ruining your body
I love nice watches and so does the Hubby. A nice watch says something about a person if you ask me. And when I say “nice watch” I am not talking some bling’d out big faced multi colored jacob or flamboyant rolex. You can tell a lot about a person if you see them in a nice age appropriate watch.

I just hit the lotto and so can all of you ladies. I cleaned out my purse. My hubby and one kids give me money to pay their bills and I keep the cash but call or do a online payment. I keep the money so I don’t have to go to the ATM, not all places take a bank card. I still have my IRA check dated 3/17/10 for April’s contributation. The man who pays my salray got mad at me for not cashing/depositing his check(s) so he decided to give them to me early. I am surprised he hasn’t asked why I haven’t cashed the check yet. When he writes a check for my kids(they help me out at work sometimes) he says “I see your kids are not like their mom, they cash their checks the same day”.
@Al-Ameera, that price tag is NO JOKE, but thank goodness I’m not the one worrying about it. I’ve dropped enough hints about it and there’s a year and a month left to that milestone, so thats more than enough lead time if you ask me. Besides I would think he’d want to gift me something to match his almost twice as expensive Big Bang right?
Can you believe I’ve never looked at Chopard watches? I like their jewelry pieces though so i will look at them. I love Tag Heuer, Blancpain & some Omega watches for women though :drool: You’re going to have me spending somebody’s money and getting kicked out of my home.
Me and husband went looking for watches this weekend and the Tag Carrera’s are sexy, oh we looked at Breitlings too.

I’m a watch fanatic myself. I don’t have the money for a $37K watch, but I have been known to splurge on a really nice watch. Although I don’t really check my watch for the time, I agree with some of the other posts. They’re an accessory. I love my different color G-shocks to match some outfits and I love my leather banded chronograph watches for when I wanna throw on a suit or dress it up a bit. Alot of things we where nowadays are completely unnecessary, but if you can pay for it why not? And the only people that say fools are easily parted with their money are people who don’t have money to part with. Lol

Hell, I dont know anybody who doesnt wear a watch. I can never find my cell so that would be annoying trying to find it just to tell time. My hubby likes nice watches and I let him have that. A nice watch on a man just looks good…..
my husband collects watches and we’re nowhere near as wealthy as Jay-Z. collecting watches is a hobby just like any other hobby. i wouldn’t pay $20 for one of those horrid Louis Stewart bags and backpacks (no matter who makes them) on grown folks look tacky; which just goes to prove that opinions are like @$$holes, we all have one!
gon’ Jigga…do you baby, do you! if i had $37K to spend on a watch and collecting watches was my thing, i’d do it. i’m an interior designer by trade and spending $50 or more per yard on fabrics for custom furniture and draperies is no biggie to me but i have friends who think that’s stupid. heck, i’ve seen fabrics going for $500/yard and up; and u best believe when hubby wins Mega Millions or Powerball, i will def be spending whatever and however much i want!

My hubby loves watches. I know what to get him for father’s day, anniversaries, birthdays, just because days…If we had Jay’s money, I would buy my hubby one. Everyone has their thing and Jay’s may be expensive azz watches. It’s not your money Sandra, so why should you care?
Those heel sneaks Paula is wearing are not cute. Sorry. I do miss her on Idol though. Her wale clap, disoriented critiques, and flirtations with Simon make me miss her so. Ellen has been such a snore and Kara…well I won’t go there today.

Jay could so get it and I like his whole ensemble. Paula’s shoes look like she got them from the discount bin at DD’s Discounts. I know for a fact that Coco does not wear padded A$$ panties. My nail lady is with Ernie C. He plays for Body Count with Ice T and they go on tour every year, usually in Europe, anyways, Coco is always on stage in a thong (Ive seen photos) and that is her A$$, cellulite and all. Boobs are obviously not though.

Paula Abdul is my girl but she is looking too skinny in this picture. She is still really pretty and young looking though. This is the most clothes I’ve ever seen on Coco it is such an improvement. I hope she keeps it up, we all know you got it so you don’t have to flaunt it, lol.
