Celebrity Seed

I know I’m all late with this, but I had a lunch/business meeting yesterday with a new fashion blogger named Sarah Chapman (more on that later).

Singer Christina Milian showed off her and rapper The Dream’s adorable baby girl, Violet, in the latest issue of US magazine, which makes little sense because 99% of US magazine readers don’t have a clue who she is, and don’t care. Anyway, The Dream was in Atlanta recently and why did one of my readers send me a long email about how he tried to come onto her at some nightclub? Based on what she wrote, the best I could tell was that he was being nice. This is why black men disrespect our women because when they are being nice to us (and being themselves), we women tend to take it the wrong way. I know some of you ladies find it hard to believe, but every man doesn’t want you!

Essence magazine published this photo of Singer Jill Scott and her big boy, Jett Hamilton Roberts. He turns 1 this month. Isn’t he handsome? Too bad his daddy, Mo’Nique’s drummer Lil’ Jon Roberts, is a snake. He had two babies by other women and just played poor Jill’s emotional heartstrings. I’m sure you’ve heard that sordid story by now.

Lil Wayne’s baby mama Sarah posted this twit pic of her and Lil Wayne’s son, cutie pie Dwayne III yesterday. Little Weezy turns 2 in October. I don’t know who the little girl is.

And congrats to singer Robin Thicke and actress Paula Patton. She gave birth to the couple’s first child — a boy — on Tuesday. They named him Julian.

Aspiring rapper, Quincy Brown, son of 80s R&B singer Al B Sure and sometime model/socialite Kim Porter, posted this pic on his Twitter from his photo shoot for his upcoming mixtape yesterday. Isn’t he handsome? Wouldn’t you love to take him home to mama? Such a clean cut young man (why is he rapping?) My regular readers will recall I wrote about Quincy being pursued by Hollywood’s elite starlets. But I’m told he totally ignores them and chooses the ’round the way girls instead.

Not So Blind Item

Someone in the camp of a former talk show Diva forwarded this terse text message exchange between the Diva and an actress that we all know and love. The insider felt that the talk show Diva blew off the actress who was only extending an olive branch in hopes of mending their broken relationship.

Basically, the actress reached out to the Diva to wish her a speedy recovering, having just heard that she was recently released from a hospital after undergoing heart surgery.

But old grievances die hard in this industry. And people (especially women) tend to hold grudges forever.

Here’s the original (unedited) text message sent to the former talk show Diva followed by her terse response:

dear ****,I JUST got off an interview & while they asked me about the ending of r friendship they also told me you’d been n the hospital.I’m sure everything went perfect & u r recovering well for I know yr spirit! I’m sorry 2 hear about yr difficulty. It’s times like this when u are suppose 2 set aside any differences…..I care about u.Remembering r good times, u r n my prayers & still my heart! Get well soon! I am the same ******** u grew 2 know.Take Care U!!!

Here’s the unedited reply:

you have been in my thoughts also… Thank you for the good wishes and the kind words. I appreciate the sincerity of your spirit.
_______…Please don’t concern yourself with any past drama. Life is far too short. I assure you that I hold no animosity toward you and wish you great success in everything you do.

I’m sure you can understand that given all I’ve had to handle…I have chosen a simpler, more streamlined and less drama filled life, so if I can ask one favor: I would appreciate it if in promoting your projects…you would steer the questions away from me. Admittedly, no one has ever asked me anything so I don’t know the position you’re in…but a simple “we’re fine” will go a long way to raise the level of the conversation…and allow you to enjoy the success without making about anyone else.

Again…your note was very much appreciated and extremely thoughtful.

Best,

A Confused Public Asks: ‘Where’s My Free Health Care?”

Two weeks after U.S. president Barack Obama signed his massive health care bill into law, confused Americans are flooding insurance companies and doctor’s offices with calls asking, “where’s my free health care?”

“They’re saying, ‘Where do we get the free Obama care, and how do I sign up for that?’ “ said Carrie McLean, a licensed agent for eHealthInsurance.com. The California-based company sells coverage from 185 health insurance carriers in 50 states.

All this mass confusion indicates that most Kool Aid drinkers don’t understand the complexities of the bill they rooted so hard for. They honestly believed Obama’s rhetoric that everyone in America would get health care. Most of them don’t yet realize that they will all pay through their teeth for that health care that Obama promised.

Even the poorest of the poor will get government subsidies to help with their premiums, but they will still have to pay out of their pocket.

And if you lose your job, you will still have to pay your insurance premium or the IRS will yank your tax refund. Do you think the police care that you lost your job if you get stopped for driving without car insurance?

McLean said the call center had been inundated by uninsured consumers who were hoping that the overhaul would translate into instant, affordable coverage. That widespread misconception may have originated in part from distorted rhetoric about the legislation bubbling up from the hyper-partisan debate about it in Washington and some media outlets, such as when opponents denounced it as socialism.

“We tell them it’s not free, that there are going to be things in place that help people who are low-income, but that ultimately most of that is not going to be taking place until 2014,” McLean said. Read More…

FAnMAIL – R.I.P. Nice Black Man

Photo for illustrative purposes only

From a loyal reader (edited for clarity):

Ok, so I recently had a conversation with one of my homegirls, a girl who I was “talking to” but somehow I fell into the “just friends zone.” We talked about our past relationships. Never knew this conversation would cost me my life…

So she starts by telling me ’bout her past. She told me the story of how she was dealing with these two men (not at the same time), and how she had been dealin with the first guy, who didn’t own a car and was a broke student.

So I asked, ‘was that the problem?’ She said, “he told me he loved me.”

‘So, what’s wrong with that?’ I asked, confused like a hoodrat on campus. She explains, “he was really ‘into me’ and somewhat jealous.” So, why did he love you? She replied, “because I inspired him to be better”…. Okay? Still Confused. She said, “I felt like I was a mother to him, had to pick him up in my car etc.”

So when I asked about the other brotha (relationship), she explained she really liked the other guy, but the relationship quickly became about “blackberry booty calls.” He was fun and charming, but she cut it off when he invited her to the Hilton for what she thought was a romantic evening. Soon as the sex was over, my man got dressed and bounced like she was ’bout to ask him for child support.

So I’m like, at least you know now what he was all about. She responds, “he really hurt me, I was really feeling him.” So I ask about the the other guy who told her ‘I love you?’ She replied, “much more” than him. Wow, I just got schooled.

So basically, she rejected the guy who loved her because he didnt have a car and wanted a relationship (mabye too soon, in her defense). All the while the man who treated her like a hoe, she was more attracted to, “more compatible with.” So, if I’m reading this thing whole thing right: women prefer a man who is into himself, non emotional (tough guy), cocky but also charming and exciting. Do I have that right ladies?

And I had it wrong all these years, who knew? Time to go back to school. I called one of my boys (who has 3 baby mothers) and he explained that women are attracted to a man who is NOT into them, plays by his own rules, cancels dates, doesn’t fawn over them, so they are hoping to tame him in the long run. They like the challenge. (I start taking notes.)

NY Model Pays $46,000 for Hair

You think you pay high prices for a few packages of yaki? One NY model takes her hair quest for the perfect hair to the extreme:

Brandi Irwin, 28, a foot model and photographer, spends tens of thousands on her hair. Indeed, she may just have the most expensive hair in New York City.

She gets her more than $46,000 locks from stylist Kristina Barricelli and her team at Gemini 14 salon in Manhattan.

Brandi’s custom hairdo involves 250,000 strands of hair extensions imported from India and colored in Italy.

The extensions are put in strand-by-strand and the process takes nine hours.”

“You work hard, you play hard,” Brandi says. “My hair is my biggest accessory.”

She says she “can’t put a price” on how it makes her feel.

Barricelli says the treatment lasts a few months, which is why the cost adds up.

Sandra Bullock Wants You To Know That…

She may be a home wrecker, but she is far from stupid. In a statement released today to combat those sex tape rumors, Sandra says:

“There is no sex tape. There never has been one and there never will be one.”
