Times Square Bomber Lived a Simple Life in America
By all accounts, Times Square bomb suspect Faisal Shazad, 30, lived a quiet, simple life with his wife and two children in a Shelton, Connecticut suburb. Neighbors say they often saw the children playing outside, but Shahzad and his young wife kept to themselves.
“To me, they were regular people,” said a former neighbor, Mary Ann Galich.
Shahzad’s wife, Huma Mian, often wore a veil covering her tight curls and a robe, while Shahzad wore suits or casual clothing such as khakis.
On the exterior, the family’s home life appeared happy and serene. But trouble was brewing just under the surface. An intense, seething hatred for America and everything Americans value seemed to set the quiet Shahzad on a course of self-destruction and attempted mass murder.
Man Who Received Face Transplant Goes Public
I read about this sad case last week and I honestly thought the surgical outcome would be different. Is this really an improvement over how he used to look? And why do patients who receive face transplants feel the need to go public with their new faces?
A young man whose face had been disfigured by tumors proudly stood before the media this week.
“I am full of joy and happiness,” the man, identified only as Rafael, told the press. “I want to thank the family of the donor and the medical team.”
With him was his mother, Juana, and sister, Belen, as well as members of the surgical team. Doctors replaced the bottom two-thirds of Rafael’s face in January because of a congenital disease that left it deformed with benign tumors.
He appeared happy to answer questions from the press, but had a special request: Leave him alone.
“Please, after this press conference I want you to leave me, my family and my friends in peace,” he said.
If he really wants his family to be in peace, why go public?

I wonder how music producer Jermaine Dupri feels about his former flame, Janet Jackson, finding love in the arms of an older man? Just like Halle Berry, Janet has awakened from her sexual hibernation and discovered that the world around her has changed and she’d better get with the program! Women no longer want to “settle” for younger guys with good looks. They want seasoned older men with healthy bank accounts who appreciate them more.
Celebs Out & About: Usher and An Old Flame?
Over the weekend, R&B singer Usher, who is enjoying a brief resurgence with his new album, was spotted at Life nightclub with a chick who wasn’t his rumored girlfriend.
As you know, Usher is supposedly dating Grace Miguel, a former Def Jam exec who was sacked by Def Jam CEO L.A. Reid for sleeping with the talent (that would be Usher).
Miguel rebounded quite nicely by packing her things and moving to Atlanta where she became an instant enemy to Usher’s ex-wife Tameka Foster, who can’t seem to get Usher out of her system.
Anyway, this post is not about Tameka. It’s not even about Grace Miguel. It’s about a third woman who has entered into the picture. According to my spies, the new chick was featured in one of Usher’s music videos about two years ago. She played a twin, I believe.
