That’s Racist…

Is it racist if the writer is simply stating the facts?

This is an actual news article that appeared in a Texas newspaper a year ago. Ironic isn’t it? Considering that Texas is contemplating adopting the same controversial immigration legislation that was passed in Arizona last month.

They should have done this long ago. Not sure why it matters if they are using food stamps or not, the store still gets reimbursed. Money Orders were down by 97%, good for them for not wanting to patronize racist ppl.

Brief discussion with co-worker, who is a law school graduate was intriqued enough to respond by saying “IF the facts are facts, and not presented in such a patently offensive tone, perhaps:” Then the answer remains yes…this is a racist article, the numbers are a fallacy… http://www.snopes.com/politics/immigration/shoplift.asp

i just feel that if you choose to come to this country and make a life here for yourself and your family, take the time to learn the language. its that simple. i cant go to france and refuse to learn french especially if i decide to live there forever. I also cant sneak over there and live under the radar. if you are going to do something do it right.

^^ Those aren’t facts….lol….those are someone’s feeble attempt at trying to be funny. People like to discriminate against immigrants so much…I wonder what would happen if all the immigrants left America?? Hmmm….. :coffee:

Easy for you to say…It’s not easy to come here legally. My grandmother who is 73 yrs old, had her visa revoked cause the US said she was staying here too long…granted when she comes they give her a period of 6 mths to stay and she has never stayed over the 6 mths. They told her that she’s over here working. Ha! She got a letter from her doctor saying she needs to have a knee replacement surgery there’s no way she’s working…..ahhh…they still DENIED her.

My cousin has Hodgkins Lymphoma and needed to come here for a PET Scan…they don’t have the specific machine in Jamaica. Don’t you know they DENIED her entry….Thank God for Cuba…she was able to go there and get it done.

Not to mention when you apply for a Visa, it’s $250 USD and it’s non-refundable…meaning if you apply and get denied, you’re out $250. Not to mention it takes like 6-8 months to get an appointment at the Embassy. The US makes MILLIONS of dollars off immigration every year…If I have to get my greencard renewed..guess what? That’s $750…If I want to become a citizen…That’s about $3000 and a long ass waiting period.

SO….When you’re dirt poor and your kids are going to bed hungry…I doubt that a “legal” entry to the US is a viable option.

this doesn’t surprise me one bit. It’s time America do something about illegal immigrants and which is to send them back where they came from. I’ve been to areas where it’s mostly Hispanics and it’s nothing but a dump they live like savages. Most of them live off welfare, and they have the highest drop out rate from high school. Some of them was born here and still doesn’t even know english. They need to have respect for this country or go back home.

Since when do illegal immigrants have rights? You are not a citizen, and no one forced you to come to the states. That’s your decision. So, accept the consequences of your actions. Who cares about all of these sob stories? Everyone has issues.

  22. 22

So because someone’s not a citizen of a country that means they shouldn’t have basic rights as a human being? STFU!

And that right there is what is wrong with the America…nobody cares about other human beings..it’s all about SELF…I wonder if the Native Americans had an immigration policy back in the day what america would be like…LMAO!

I agree that if you come over here illegally you should at least TRY to learn English. I have a friend that is married to a guy that came over here illegally. Well they made the tough decision to send him back and try to get him over here legally. She said each time he got pulled over by a cop it was a lot of money because he had no ID because of course he can’t get a DL.They hired a lawyer to make sure everything was in order before he went and I can tell it is killing her but she knows it was for the best. There really isn’t a timeline as to when the Embassy will let him come back of IF they will. So yeah I still agree about illegal aliens but I know it’s hard for those that go through it first hand.

    @ Renegade

I read and understand your frustration. I have a father who struggled with his citizenship in the U.S for years, but at the same time a lot of these illegal immigrants that come here want the basic human rights yet don’t want to pay a dime for them. Things cost money, Health care, Goood Schools neighborhoods, and etc.. On top of that there are some Hispanics here trafficking drugs and bringing that gang violence over here when we are already struggling to get rid of the gangs that we have created in this country on our own. They come here work hard and then send 90 percent of their earnings back home??? WHY when we don’t even have the money to spend to revamp what we need due to the damn bush administration. I am for the law that Arizona made, granted it does need tweaking to not exactly target them, but look at the facts. Do you know that if your an illegal American in Mexico, your are immediately deported and or jailed for 3 years, and whom ever helped you is also jailed? Yet we sit here with open arms feeding, giving jobs and also illegally paying them when we pay taxes and get our paychecks raped every two weeks.. hell nawl

Wow first I am a fellow Texan, Houstonian to be exact and I am applauded by this article :vomit: !!

Texas has a huge issue with Immigration but I believe every state does now.

I’ve seen both sides of the fence and while people don’t need to come here illegally, the United States need to stop allowing terrorists here but denying people who actually have documents supporting why they need to come and have a viable need to be here!!

  27. 27
    KaraZ says:

@Crislex, please check your facts. American citizens are the ones who TAX the public welfare system to death, not illegal immigrants.

  28. 28
    KrayZKat says:

    @Cristex – :cosign:

Thank you so much for stating the facts. My sister-in-law used to work for a school in Compton and said the ESL children had money available to them for private teacher’s aides to help with their education, even if they were doing better academically than the black children. The black children were not as fortunate. How is that fair?

Allowing ILLEGAL immigration is like opening up the door to your home and allowing anyone to enter.

  29. 29
    KrayZKat says:

English is the de facto language of the United States. It’s the official language of business and commerce.

It only stands to reason that one would want to learn to speak English. Unfortunately, in order for many American’s to work, they are now required to speak Spanish. Why would I, an American citizen, have to learn someone else’s language in order to work in my country? Now it would make sense to me that if you come to a predominately ENGLISH SPEAKING country, you would learn the language. Even people in other countries have the sense to learn how to speak English.

    Crislex says:

    @ Kara Z

we can do that. We pay taxes, therefore we can set what taxes are to be bad and how much. Illegal Immigrants, most, do NOT pay taxes and are able to get access to welfare benefits quicker than those who do need it and can not receive it. Also the welfare waiting list is long in my area, wanna know why? ILLEGALS! They take up half the list and most of them have no documentation to be allowed in this country. I have a girlfriend that works for the HOC system in Montgomery County, MD and she constantly tells me that the Hispanics get top priority over housing than those who are Americans and need the housing or have been on the waiting list for more than a year. I am sorry I do not feel sorry for illegals. This country is bearing to many problems of our own along with those who bring their issues to this country from else where.

I bet you 100 percent that if you were to live in Mexico you wouldn’t even get half the benefits we give them here. Mexico doesn’t play that shyt and I think its time that America does the same. We need to fix the damn problems we got first before we open doors to people who don’t want to go through the system. Granted the system is messed up and needs to be reformed, but non the less its the law and the system

  31. 31

    @Crislex

How is it that illegals get welfare with no ID, no SSN, no Greencard?? I always wonder that…When I was unemployed I applied for food stamps to offset my expenses and the list of documents they required were PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP OR RESIDENCY….I had to show them my Birth certificate, Green Card, SS Card etc…..soooo…If you’re illegal…how the do you get Welfare???? I’m just asking cause I don’t know

That law in Arizona gives cops the right to racially profile people and that’s what’s wrong….So if you’re brown they’ll pull you over and harass you.

You want illegal immigrants to go away…tell shady AMERICAN businessmen to quit hiring them. But that will never happen cause everybody knows America is all about the almighty dollar.

  32. 32
    KrayZKat says:

renegadesince1985 – I know you were addressing Cristex about this, but I wanted to interject, if I may.

As far as the racial profiling, they are already doing that. Blacks and brown people have always been racially profiled and will continue to be as long as there is racism.

Secondly, you asked how the illegals are able to get social services and citizens cannot? Well, how can they come here illegally and get away with it? To come here illegally is to break the law. You and I couldn’t do that without some kind of consequence, so why should our government give them a pass? The U.S. government does what it wants to. They can take away your freedoms and give it to others. That’s exactly what they are doing here.

If I fell on hard times and robbed a bank, you can rest assured if I was caught, I’d be thrown in the pokey with the quickness. How can people illegally come over the border, get all the benefits that Americans should get, and nothing is done about it. They are not citizens of this country and it’s unfair to those whom have gone through the blood, sweat, and tears to become citizens. How is that fair that breaking the law will allow you to skip over everyone else? I agree with you regarding the business owners that hire them. I say hit them in the pockbook. Hit them where it hurts. People don’t like their paper messed with. Make examples out of them. They want to pay lower wages and then in turn, it lowers the wages of Americans who cannot afford to work for $4.00 p/hour.
