Happy Father’s Day

Happy Father’s Day to all the real daddies and to the brothas who are father’s to other men’s sons!
The Last Emperor’s “Do You Remember” is one of my favorite music videos. When I first saw this video my heart melted. Not so much for the lyrics, but for the poignant scenes of fathers with their children at Manhattan’s famous Rucker Park.
Do you remember when fathers used to love hanging out with their children instead of their “boys”?
If you are a single man with no children, please take the time to show love to a fatherless boy instead of hanging out on the corner. You would be his hero and it would mean so much to his world.
My father drank himself to death in 1974. So, no father’s day for me. But here are some special Father’s Day tweets from my Twitter timeline:

Thanks for a “Fathers Day” Post. Happy Fathers Day to all the real males doing what they do to make their kids a part of society and not a menance to society.
Happy Father’s Day to all the mommies that play the dual-role of both mom and dad. My hat goes off to you! *Pats self on back*
Happy Father’s Day to all the REAL father’s out there!
Happy Father’s Day to all the men who are really taking care of their children, and to all the men in the role of father to one they did not create, you are appreciated as well.
This was cute and sweet Sandra and completely true. I love the President’s tweet and agree with DJ Drama cause Facebook was ugly today, although I was one of the many mothers playing daddy in order to make up for the missing sperm donor, I kept my feelings about the day off social networking sites and focused on enjoying my children (I’m TIRED now though but can’t sleep) and so the day was great. But seriously more than 1/2 the statuses I read today had to do with trife, ignorant dead beats and nothing to do with celebrating and lifting up the men who do the right thing by and with their children without being forced by the court system, nagged to death, or simply walk off. So I’m glad to see this because there are many wonderful fathers and men out there and they need to be appreciated, loved, supported, encouraged and lifted up instead of being branded and beat down because of the ignorant decisions of the deadbeat, good for nothing boys running around trying to pass themselves off as men.
I agree, my dad has always been in my life and is still married to my mom and it’s such a depressing turn off to see so many people complaining on fathers day. I understand your fathers not being in your lives but why say anything at all? It’s not “Complain about your lack of Father Day”. Some people should either just wish a happy fathers day to the good fathers out there instead of bitching about their crappy fathers. A
I never have a problem going to get a fathers day card but come mothers day you can’t even get into the store. It’s sad. Fathers Day should be equally as important.
