Monica Sings The National Anthem At The NBA Finals in Boston
If you missed it, R&B DIva Monica kilt The National Anthem during Game 3 of the NBA Finals match up tonight between the Celtics and the Lakers at the Garden.
Monica had the crowd on their feet cheering and applauding from the moment she breathed on the mic!
My only complaint was the backup singers. Why did Mo need them drowning her out? I hope Keri Hilson was watching.
Bench Warrant Issued for Lindsay Lohan’s Arrest; Bail Set At $200K
When will Lindsay Lohan learn that the nation’s laws are meant for her as well? According to TMZ, a monitoring service sent a report to Lindsay’s judge early Monday morning, alerting her that Lindsay’s SCRAM alcohol ankle bracelet showed evidence of alcohol consumption.
Judge Marsha Revel just issued a bench warrant for the troubled actress’s arrest. In total, the report cited 5 offenses that violates Lohan’s probation. The report was triggered early Monday morning, following Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards.
If you recall, this same judge set Lindsay’s bail at $100,000 two weeks ago when she failed to attend a progress hearing. The same bondsman who paid %10 of Lohan’s bond the last time is pulling up to the courthouse to pay it again.
Lindsay will forfeit the $100,000 from her previous bail.
Celeb Style: Is Janelle Monáe Channeling Willow Smith for Her 944 Mag Cover?
Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith’s daughter Willow was the topic of discussion on numerous blogs and message boards today. People either love her eclectic sense of style or they hate it.
Personally, I LOVE Willow’s style. At the tender age of 9, she has a keener eye for fashion than most women three times her age. Willow’s swag is undeniable and she should be applauded for possessing the talent to put together so many different sophisticated looks at such a young age.
I see a career in fashion in this kid’s near future.
On the other hand, singer Janelle Monáe is so fashionably impaired that her rider for what she would not wear during the cover shoot for 944 Magazine was pages long. I can just imagine what it said: no color choices and no originality of any kind!
Here’s what Janelle said about her “decidedly-masculine, almost androgynous” blank slate look**:
“There are so many ways we can be sexy and confident. I am not faithful to any of the clothes that the world says I have to wear to be more feminine. Strength and femininity come from me, not my clothes.”

Janet Jackson At the Gold Room for Her Boo Jermaine’s Party
Pop icon Janet Jackson made a surprise appearance at the Gold Room last night for her boo Jermaine Dupri’s Hip Hop Honoree Party. My sources tell me that Janet and JD are still an item, but she doesn’t want anyone to know.
Why else would she show up at the Gold Room 30 minutes before he got there to surprise him? I’m told that Janet arrived at the club around 10:30 with her entourage, which included her gay dancers. She partied in a VIP room with her gay dancers for an hour before leaving.
Jada Pinkett-Smith Has A Few Beautiful Words To say About Black Women
Actress, wife and mom Jada Pinkett-Smith had some beautiful words to say about black women in her recent sit down interview with ESSENCE magazine. Jada, who graces the cover of the July 2010 issue, said:
“Lay your eyes on the beauty of black women! That’s the statement. The black woman is very spiritual. She is the ultimate mother, the ultimate of everything. We connect to all things. Lay your eyes on that.”
On her flaws:
“We, as women, have to love ourselves. Whatever you look like, you better be comfortable with it. … All my life black men have told me how flawed I am. People may look at that picture and not necessarily be able to identify my woes about my own body, but I have them. It’s just that I’ve gotten to the point where I’m like, ‘This is me’ and I embrace that. I’m getting older. I’ve got wrinkles in my face that I didn’t before, but it’s my face!”
On self-love and confidence:
Do you love what you see when you look in the mirror? Because I bet that if you love it authentically, everybody else around you will. Ciara attended the LA premiere of The Karate Kid in Westwood, California yesterday.
Ciara showed up at the premiere with her bodyguard, right, who also doubles as her boy toy. That makes for an odd relationship. But Ciara is odd so I guess it works for her.
Will and Jada’s son Jaden Smith attended the LA premiere for his movie ‘The Karate Kid’ yesterday. Mark my words: this little boy will be coming out in a few years. And then you will say ‘auntie was right again!’ Are little boys supposed to rock cropped silk jackets that look like it came out of his sister’s closet? I didn’t think so.
