No comment on the story and I know I’m late but @ Negrito how can you say that marriage shouldn’t be in modern society? The problem isn’t marriage the problem is this modern society that’s effed up, brainwashing people into believing that all things not involving immediate pleasure, getting rich quickly, or doing what the masses tell you to do is backwards, old fashioned, out of style or not modern. If more people were getting married vs sleeping around, carrying on decades long relationships with no real committment, creating child after child with different partners, or getting married only to twist the rules to fit whatever lifestyle they want to live no matter how much that lifestyle is a direct contradiction to the institution, meaning, purpose and intent of marriage itself, or better yet going into marriages not for love, not because they want to spend the rest of their life with one person, not because they want their children born within wedlock, not even because they got knocked up and want to do things the right way but because they want to ensure that they have financial stability in case something goes wrong. I mean marriage in today’s modern society is simply a piece of paper, right? That’s what society, the entertainment industry, and so many others are brain washing people into believing. Now instead of getting married with the intention of staying within your marriage forever, working through the ups and the downs, through sickness and health, through the good and the bad times until death does you part, people are going into marriages with their exit strategy already mapped out. Greedy divorce attorneys will tell you that going into a marriage without a prenup is simply irresponsible, crooked ministers who are supposed to be counseling engaged couples on how to succeed in their marriage are pushing people to be prepared in case things don’t work out. A simple divorce (provided parties agree and there aren’t children involved) can be done in 3 months or less for $300 and neither party ever has to show their face in court nor does the couple have to go through counseling or mediation to determine if their marriage is able to be saved. The idea that divorce is not an option except in severe cases has been abandoned for the idea that if this person doesn’t make you head over heels happy every day of the week that you should divorce because the marriage is destined for failure.

I can’t state anything simply but simply put, today’s effed up, ass backwards, modern society is the reason for the problems that lead to divorce. Marriage is not the problem, should never be put down as a dead institution having no place in a modern society, or looked at as an ineffective institution. If more people were getting married for the right reasons and taking it seriously I’m willing to guarantee that 95% of the problems facing the black community, society as a whole and this country would be eliminated. Why? Because if people were getting married and staying married while adhering to the binds of marriage (meaning staying faithful,communicating effectively,keeping the family structure intact etc) there would not be so many single parent households, there would be more fathers in the home and there would not be as much random sex for starters. By eliminating just half the number of broken homes, absentee fathers and mothers, and irresponsible sex in just the black communities within the United States, the crime rate would go down (both parents in the household and active in the childs life means more attention on the child, meaning those children would have have higher self esteem, be less likely to join gangs or commit crimes since they have two parents to answer to instead of one over worked stressed out parent), the number of new cases of stds would go down, the number of teen pregnancies would drop, the increasing hatred and disrespect towards black men and women would greatly decrease which would further improve the overall esteem of men and women in our communities and promote self respect and self love which our children would then reflect and reciprocate. Instead people would rather date for years, have multiple children by multiple fathers, divorce several times still looking for that Mr. Right that makes them happy all the time not realizing that he doesn’t exist and continue sleeping with whoever and whatever simply because to deny oneself pleasure (even pleasure that comes with such high risks as non monogamous sex does today)is unheard of and so wrong in todays modern society, while our communities continue to deteriorate, our children suffer a little more each generation, our youth continue to be brainwashed by the entertainment industry, the disrespect towards our women is at an all-time high, video hoes and groupies are becoming famous and the face of black women in through blog sites and reality shows while drug dealers, ex cons and addicts with a record contract are touted as role models, you see 4 year olds on Youtube rapping along to Lil Wayne, cuss words and all, while the parents videotaping it yet that poor child can’t read, write his name or wipe his own ass but so many of our people think its cute. You’ve got chicks on welfare, not knowing one of the childrens fathers, blowing their whole county check on an outfit for the club and living their entire lives this way because no one has ever shown them anything different. Fathers walking past their kids everyday on the street and not even saying hello while the poor child doesn’t even know he was sitting next to his daddy at the bus stop. I could go on but you should get the point by now. Yes I wrote another epistle, this one is Ms. Everything 10:1-45 lol but the world around us is going to hell in a handbasket while people are sitting back watching and wondering why when its things like the desecration of the institution of marriage, the steady blatant removal of the mere mention of God from everything (they don’t want you praying on national tv but it’s ok for two women to kiss on tv and if they dare not show two men kissing every civil rights activist in the country will be up in arms) and the crap the industry is shoving down kids throats nowadays that’s causing the majority of our problems but so many of us are walking around blind to what’s really going on.
