Pregnant Alicia Keys Falls Flat On Her Rump Onstage

It’s a good thing pregnant singer Alicia Keys was lip syncing when she took a tumble onstage during Day 2 of the Essence festival in New Orleans. AK didn’t miss a note when she fell backwards and landed on her rear. Miss Keys, who is 8 months pregnant with producer Swizz Beak’s baby, jumped right back up and sat her butt down at the piano for the rest of the song.

Does she think she’s superwoman? Why doesn’t she take it easy until her baby is born? I feel sorry for that kid when he is born. His parents will probably see him on weekends and holidays only. Narcissists should never give birth.

Sandra, I don’t think she’s 8 months pregnant yet, but I agree – she should take it easy. Glad she and the baby are ok.

She could fall walking in her house. NO need to stop working. We all have co workers who work until thier 9 month. They take the same risk. Why is she any different?

I want Miss Keys to sit her azz down ASAP. She isn’t behaving like a normal pregnant woman. Take a break and watch episodes of A BABY STORY on TLC before bloggers start thinking you are attempting to miscarry (induce a miscarriage of) your baby.

@therapist1911, Are you serious? Most jobs do not require you to travel around the world with a grueling performance schedule. Most pregnant women work because they can’t afford to take off from work. I am sure finances isn’t (or shouldn’t be) a problem for Alicia.

She is working. Despite how u may view her occupation it’s still work for her and her staff. IF she doesn’t perform other famiies don’t eat and she doesnt get paid.

Like I said…there are many women who work through their pregnancy and not all are sitting behind a desk. SHe is pregnant not disabled. She trip and fell….something she can do in her own home.

J Lo and other prg singers worked and toured while prg. I am sure their drs cleared them. I have women in my spin class who go harder than I do at times who are prg. Long as you are not high risk I say go for it!

@Maya…yes that’s me and my mom when I was around 7 months and she was 20.

She probably learned to be more careful when she woke up the next day and that azz was sore.

I think it’s different for each woman; some can be real active (I was) and some are literally shut down during pregnancy. Hell, I slid down a whole flight of stairs (didn’t miss one step) while I was 7 months pregnant, and praise God, I was ok. She’ll be fine. She can keep working.

Her preganancy isn’t a “unforeseen” circumstance. Women been working and carrying babies for centuries. PLease spare me that foolishness.

There is also something called contracts…u should know about those…right? So if she is contracted to put on a show…the show must go on. I’m willing to bet having a normal pregnancy isn’t something that would override a contract.

Like Daisy said….I’m sure she has a doctor and her doctor approved. Bloggers are not the only ones blessed with common sense….if she was high risk prehaps she would cancel.

I agree the show must go on. She will be fine. I’m sure she has a traveling healthcare professional who is backstage during all of her performances. And you are absolutely right she can fall, trip, or stumble at home, in the store, in the garden, etc. so should she stay home in the bed at 5 months pregnant

Never bc my job doesn’t require that of me to be on a stage. However, in the last 8 years as a teacher (i just resigned in MAy)I’ve tripped over several book bags, desk, and books. Also, I’ve hurt myself numerous of times breaking up fights between students.

I couldn’t really tell by the video….Imma have to watch it again. She doesn’t have the best live voice anyway. SO lip syncing might be the better option for her.

Just last month it was reported she was four months pregnant maybe I’m but I know plenty of women who work up until their 9th month and they have very healthy babies.

Aww come on now Auntie Sandra! Sometimes the voice just ain’t there after performing live night after night. Better to lip sync *every blue moon* than to sound like a screeching bat and permenantly damage her vocal chords.

Judging by the fall I would say she is definitely lip syncing. Its hard to go down that hard without having an inflection in your voice or making some kind of sound. I would’ve said “oh shyt” or something.

That’s what I’m saying a “wow” or something. The music just kept playing. AK is a medicore performer at best. Her voice is ok but I have heard better in my church’s youth choir. I would never pay money to see her.

Welcome back IM your presence has been missed. I’m not even getting into this because I’ve never seen this much poorly disguised joy especially by grown folks at a pregnant woman falling. I wish I would’ve stopped living my life, doing the job I love and wearing heels just because I was pregnant. And I fell several times pregnant each time in flats not in my heels. I don’t think y’all care about the safety of her and the baby, you just want her to disappear because you cant get past her being a so called homewrecker but that’s not anybody but her, her dr and Swizz’s call so if you can’t stand to see her stop watching

I don’t think anything is wrong with her working. She could have fallen walking in her house. As long as she has the energy and is feeling fine why not work. To me being lazy while pregnant is a no-no.

Shoot I played softball until I was 5 months and I worked until a week before they took my baby. Soo whatever!!!!!

I just had a baby a little over a year ago- so I can definitely say- SHE IS DOING WAY TOO MUCH- SHE REALLY NEEDS TO SLOW DOWN BEFORE SHE HURTS HERSELF AND THAT BABY-
