Obama Sponsors Trip to Middle East for NY Mosque Imam
Earlier this week I posted an email from a concerned reader who asked to remain anonymous. She asked if we could confirm a controversial statement that was being attributed to U.S. president Barack Obama as part of his speech during the Ramadan dinner at the White House.
Of particular concern to my loyal reader was the passage that read — and I quote:
I have instructed my state department to give the Imam of this 911 Mosque, free travel in a U.S. Gov’t. Jet, paid for by the American Taxpayers, all over the Middle East.
It turns out that the email was a hoax; as those words were not uttered by Obama during the Ramadan dinner. But the above quoted passage is true; Obama has instructed the U.S. State Department to fly the Imam of the proposed NY Mosque to the Middle East – on your dime!
According to the Washington Post, the state department — which answers to Obama — is sponsoring a tour of the Middle East for Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the man behind the Park51 Muslim community center and mosque proposed on a site near New York’s Ground Zero.
Rauf will leave New York and travel to Bahrain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, a State Department official tells The Cable. The cost of the trip is $16,000.
Anyone who believes the cost is only $16,000 is naive and clueless. It costs more than $16,000 just to fuel the plane!
According to online reports, the Imam has denied a request to meet with NY Governor Patterson to consider moving the location of the Mosque to land provided by NYC.
Instead, the mosque will stay put near Ground Zero — AND the Imam plans to accept donations for the Mosque from Saudi Arabia and Iraq! Note that the 9/11 attacks were fully funded by terrorist organizations in Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
But wait, it gets better: according to the Post, the State Department “has no knowledge or control of the specifics of what Rauf will talk about as he tours the region..”
Then why are we paying to fly him over there?
Does any of this smack of complicity to you guys? The State Department has tiptoed around the specifics of Rauf and the trip to the Middle East. As the Post states: “ostensibly to avoid wading into the controversy over the community center,” which Obama fully endorsed at the Ramadan dinner.

I am a Christian and I would hate for everyone to think that since I am a Christian that I have ties to or anything like David Koresh or any other sick person that wanted to kill others in the name of God..allah or whatever. We are treating Muslims the same way they treat African Americans. We have allowed the terrorist to change the way we think about the Muslim religion. Just because I don’t believe in the God they serve doesn’t mean that I need to JUDGE them on others actions. In this country we have the FREEDOM to have different religions, that is the great thing about America! Yes there are terrorist that are Muslims, but there are also terrorist that are Christians. Oh, and despite what you may think. Politians have done alot of things “on our dime”, Obama would not be the first. Sandra don’t let FOX bamboozle you into being simple minded!
Sandra, please also mention that this same Imam got sent on the same mission by the previous BUSH administration as well.

If this was a Christian minister tour of Rome, Italy paid for by the US government, Code Pink would be lying on the ground in front of the White House and the ACLU would be in front of a federal judge by now.
What makes me so perturbed about the entire things is that you just won’t admit that you join in the Muslim-bashing parade right alongside those pundits you love to quote. Oh but you Sandra…LOVE Muslims…that’s laughable. If you had any respect for them you would not post such propaganda seeking to instill fear into other simple-minded individuals.

I’ve been in my bag about the war, muslims, and politics all morning. I’m gonna let yall fight this one. I’m tired!
I usually don’t comment on these types of post because… well it’s just to heavy but I have to chime in on this one.
As an American citizen that holds dual citizenship in a middle eastern country there are some things that I can say most of you have no idea of.
Don’t confuse a Muslim with and angry Arab.
I work and interact with angry Arab’s everyday. On the surface they seem pleasant even helpful at times, however when the hezbollah, hamas or anyone of 100 terrorist groups are throwing bombs they are praying for the destruction of my children.
Wake up people! It’s not about the mosque it’s about who’s building it. You can sit around with your eyes closed singing Koombuya, just be sure to know everyone isn’t coming from the same state of innocence that your are.

I personlally don’t think ANYONE should be able to build anything there. And not hating on Muslims, because not all of them were apart or condoned what happened, but I feel it would be in poor taste for them to even think of building something that is exculsivly for them and their religion. It would be like a retired white military man deciding to build a miliraty school at Ground Zero in Hiroshima that only Americans could attend!!!! He didn’t have anything to do with the Atomic bomb and is really sorry that his fellow Americans created such a travisty in their country, so don’t get mad at him. Still don’t get it? Ok, let’s break it waaaaay down: Your brother gets shot and killed by a stray bullet because he was at the wrong place at the wrong time. Then, the shooter’s family shows up to the funeral. They didn’t do anything and only want to pay their respects, however, it would be in poor taste for them to do so.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but I have to agree with Rene. SR is on a bashing spree against Muslims too. People really need to learn how to concern themselves with their own faith opposed to concentrating on portraying a bad image of someone else’s.
