Haiti Election Council Rejects Wyclef Jean’s Presidency Bid

In an interview with the Muslim network Al Jazeera, Wyclef Jean, who had high hopes of running for president of Haiti despite the fact that he’s not a resident of the island, said Haitians “don’t need a local president, I think we need a global president, someone that can travel.”
Wyclef is so clueless that his statement would be funny if it wasn’t so sad.
This evening the election council in Haiti rejected Wyclef’s bid for presidency on the grounds that he has not lived in Haiti for over 5 years. Duh…
Wyclef broke the news on his Twitter page tonight.

Only a moron would think he could run for president of a country that he is not even a resident of.
Maybe Wyclef can run for president of the United States in 2012 (or sooner if Obama is impeached).
Sandra Rose Makes Newsweek’s List of Most Influential Bloggers
I am proud to say that together WE made Newsweek‘s distinguished list of Most Influential Bloggers. Thanks to Newsweek‘s Kathy Jones for considering us for this honor!
I had a lengthy speech already prepared, but I seem to have misplaced it. So I’ll just say that I could not have accomplished this great feat without You, my loyal readers!
What’s that? The list is actually Newsweeks’ Most ‘Notorious’ Bloggers?
What’s the difference?
Behind the Scenes: On the Set of Jeezy – Jizzle ft. Lil Jon

Rapper Young Jeezy chose the old Fourth Ward neighborhood near downtown Atlanta to shoot his music video for “Jizzle” featuring Lil Jon 2 weeks ago.

These are your typical Atlanta breezy’s who think they are too cute to smile. I do love the fact that all — except one — are dark skinned sistas. This must be some kind of record for a rap video. Kudos to Jeezy!

Flight attendant takes baby who was slapped aboard a plane
Updated, 8:47 pm ET:
A flight attendant is being praised for taking a baby from its mother following “an incident” aboard a Southwest airline plane yesterday.
What kind of mother slaps a 1-year-old child across the face for crying?
CNN has the harrowing details:
A flight attendant on a Southwest Airlines flight from Dallas, Texas, to Albuquerque told police she saw the woman “strike the child with an open hand on the face in an attempt to get the child to stop crying,” a police report states. The flight attendant also said she saw the mother slapping the child on her legs.
KRQE reports the incident involved a 1-year-old.
The woman appeared “agitated,” the flight attendant said, and the husband was yelling at his wife to shut up due to her screaming at the child, the report states.
The baby girl had a black eye, which the parents said was from a dog bite from an uncle’s Great Dane, the report said.
According to the police report, the woman told officers she only slapped her child after she was kicked. And she said she put her finger on the child’s mouth in an attempt to get her to be quiet.
Asked if she thought it was okay to hit a 13-month-old baby, the woman nodded to police and said, “She’s my daughter,” according to the police report.
The flight from Dallas, Texas, to Albuquerque arrived around 4:30 p.m. local time on Monday.
Both parents were questioned by police and then released on their own recognizance after medical personnel examined the child for injuries. The family then boarded another flight.

T.I. gives prison a negative review

Rapper T.I. sat down with NY magazine yesterday during a presser at the Capitale in lower Broadway hours before he hit the stage for his AXE-sponsored One Night Only concert series.
Onstage, T.I. is all about showcasing the swagger that made him a star, bouncing around in his gleaming white wife beater, blinged-out dog tags around his neck. But offstage, earlier in the day, he was all business, pacing around the event space, using his BlackBerry, and conducting a series of short interviews. The rapper has compared King Uncaged to Tupac Shakur’s All Eyez on Me, which made millions off the artists’ musings on life as a felon. T.I. wants Uncaged to be the next great post-prison rap album: “[In prison] when I was so frustrated that it made me feel such and such, I made sure I wrote that down, like, ‘I feel like this is some bullshit, because … ’” he said. “When you hear the album, you’ll be able to pinpoint aggression, and that’s due to me capturing those moments of incarceration.”
But aside from the odd dear-diary missive, T.I. said he didn’t actually write much of the record in jail. He was too busy. “I taught a class; I played handball; I played football, coached softball; I worked out a lot,” he remembers. “But writing? There just wasn’t much time for that.” The way he describes it, jail sounds kind of … fun, like summer camp. “No! Not at all, not even a little bit,” the rapper disagreed, laughing and shaking his head. “By no stretch of the imagination! I don’t want anyone to assume, think, or believe that for one moment. Two thumbs down. Two big toes, down!”
