Takers Beats Exorcism in Tight Weekend Race
Despite early estimates that The Last Exorcism had edged out Takers for the #1 spot, a final count of the receipts proves that Takers is the #1 box office hit in America.
Sony is claiming the victory for Screen Gems’ Takers based on revised estimates including numbers from Sunday where The Last Exorcism fell behind, dropping 45% on Sunday to Takers’ 32% and that allowed Takers to win the weekend with $20.6 million to Exorcism’s $20.4 million. It’s still early and one can expect the numbers to be contested with it being so close, but right now, it looks like Takers has indeed kept Lionsgate from having their first-ever third weekend at #1. I like to go to Greenbriar or any “urban” theatre to see the outfits, hairstyles, nails, dunks and the whole “hood explosion” of opening weekend.

No joke…I took my 16 year old to see it Sunday afternoon and there were THREE OLD WHITE WOMEN there. Not in their 50s, shoot not even their 60s! These women HAD to be pushing 70+…gray hair had turned blue…that’s how old they were!

Congrats to the cast and all involved. As I stated before, the movie was much better then I expected. I went mostly to support the cast but was pleasently surprised. My theatre was packed and had to sit up closer then I would normally but it was all good. Oh and the audience definitely got inovolved, especially during CB scene which seemed to go on forever. That be being said, don’t want to give anything away, if you haven’t seen it already, go and enjoy.

You know that can be misleading. People go see the movies and then realize that is was a major bust. Soul Plane had some funny moments…..but not good enough to make the “Best List” and then so high on the list.
I’ve never seen Brown Sugar…. but Love and Basketball is one of my favs (but I have yet to live down the Sanaa Lathan comparisons

When you hear something about him nowadays it’s about the tranny, baby momma issues, people shytting on his more recent projects but for about a good 8 year span he put out great movies staring black people. He even cast the up and coming actors/comedians and the legends and made some unforgettable movies. I like “Life” even though it was depressing once you got past the comedic banter.

I think the first one was really “amateurish” but by the third installment, they had improved their acting ability and comedic timing.
Timing is everything with a comedy. It’s a shame that franchise took a turn for the worse after that.

I planned a date w/hubby but forgot to tell him. He already had plans. I took my son, daughter a nephew and the two grand babies. I know it’s not a kid movie but we were at the drive -in. They were asleep for some of it.
@Anna, my children are ages 12, 11 and 8. I didn’t have a problem with them watching the movie. I am sure they saw worst on Youtube.
My husband and kids loved the movie.

I saw it yesterday
The draw is definitely the eye candy..of every flavor ..Vanilla, dark chocolate (that’s idris)..butter pecan, butter scotch and white chocolate…that graces the screen. For the first 20 to 30 minutes of the movie it is the BIG “O”…..Idris is beautiful, flawless and perfect in every way. So perfect in fact I am convinced that God himself delivered Idris personally to earth on the tips of his Divine fingertips (imjussayin) I gasped out loud every time he swagged across the screen. I for one lusted for those 20 to 30 minutes…LUSTED with pure abandonment.
The plot is elementary, premeditated, and at times insulting to one’s intelligence…but that’s ok….cause Idris……(swoons and falls off of desk chair)…….oh ok where was I? Michael Ealey, Chris Brown, T.I. and even the dudes that played those other dudes…..let’s just say…there is something for everyone…so though the plot lines sends you on a routine trip of Good vs. Evil and honor amongst thieves concept…..when you have beauty with you……you don’t mind taking the trip….even though you have been there before……you haven’t been there with Idris, Michael, Chris and TI to keep you company.
I give this movie a 4 out of 5 stars…the four stars are all awarded due to the four beautiful men the casting director saw fit to cast. God Bless the casting director.
I was surprised to know that Takes did well. We went the day it opened and it was hardly any one in there.
But, it was an okay movie.

Wow, I know you did go through much with your son last year. I too am glad it’s not Steven Johnsons Syndrome. Asthma is still a big deal.
My fam is doing well. Kids growing up and the grandbaby is crawling all over the place. This might be a stupid question, but kids bounce back quick. Is your daughter able to still cheerlead, or be on the sideline to cheerlead for the cheerleaders?
