Wyclef Jean wants to be president of Haiti (why not?)

Wyclef Jean isn’t content with just being a founding member of the legendary music group, The Fugees. Now he wants to be president of Haiti too.

What do you mean by ‘is he qualified?’ He was born in Haiti. What more qualifications does he need?

Didn’t Barack Obama already prove that you don’t need to be qualified to be president of the United States?

Can you blame Wyclef for setting his sights ridiculously high? What narcissist wouldn’t strive to be president of a small island nation that he rarely visits?

Presidents don’t have to reside in the country that they want to rule over. Especially if the president is a celebrity.

You can’t expect Wyclef to actually live in Haiti, what with the presidential palace lying in ruins and all.

Wyclef will most likely win the election, because CNN says he’s qualified.

Once he’s elected, he’ll pop over there every once in a while to make music videos or to take photo ops with orphaned Haitian children.

But Wyclef will spend most of his time stateside doing what he does best: fundraising and collecting cash that no one knows what he’s doing with.

Oh, and he’ll eventually rebuild that demolished presidential palace — over in Miami, of course.

Oh and for all those giving (or gave) money to Haiti…I went to mass last sunday and a nun from a sister church was there. She said that only about 10% of those donations that were collected actually made it to Haiti. She said the best way to help is to donate via Food For the Poor or through churches. :/

Team Wyclef here!!!! I think he showed countless times how devoted he is when it comes to his country. I’d rather someone like him run a country instead of the stereotypical politician we always see.

    @Yvonne

No…she didn’t mention them specifically. She just said that the only way to ensure that most of the money would get to the needy would be to donate directly to churches in Haiti or Food for the Poor.

I’ve been giving to FFTP for about 5 years now…I also sponsor a little girl in Ethiopia….her name is Makeda and she’s so cute!!!

    Morning Family, How’s everybody??

Auntie said: Didn’t Barack Obama already prove that you don’t need to be qualified to be president of the United States?

    Actually no, Auntie….

According to the US Constitution, any natural born citizen 35 years or older, residing in the country at least 14 years can be President.

There are no other qualifications….we determine if they are qualified when we vote for the candidate…

If that’s the case, G.W. wasn’t qualified either…..he got us in the longer war in history

Jean, who had been an outspoken proponent for Haiti through his Yele Foundation, told CNN Tuesday that plans to make the major announcement on King’s show Thursday night.

He told CNN late last month that he has filled out the necessary paperwork to make a run at the country’s highest office. Read More…
