Rapper Eminem and Rihanna performed their hit song “Love The Way You Lie” during the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday.

A year after Kanye West nearly destroyed his career by snatching the mic from singer Taylor Swift, she returned triumphantly to the VMAs last night. Taylor sang a sad ballad about a man who’s lost his way in life. “I guess you really did it this time/ Left yourself in your war path/ Lost your balance on a tight rope/ Lost your mind trying to get it back,” she sang. Many believe she was referring to Kanye. Swift lost the Best Female Video Moonman to Lady Gaga.

Troubled producer/rapper Kanye West closed out the show with an off-key performance of his new single titled “Runaway”. It’s too bad Kanye decided to mount his comeback by pointed the finger of blame at everyone but the man directly responsible for his troubles.

“Let’s have a toast for the douchebags/ Lets have a toast for the assholes/ Let’s have a toast for the jerkoffs/ Every one of them that I know…,” he ranted.

But why should we be surprised that a narcissist such as Kanye would find it hard to humble himself before others and accept full blame for his own failures? Last night’s comeback performance should have been an epiphany moment for a man who finally understood the error of his ways. Instead, his “pity me” performance sounded like a broken record that was mediocre at best. Do better Kanye!

Lady Gaga took home the Best Female Pop Award and the Best Female Video Award. Lady Gaga also announced the name of her upcoming album, Born That Way. I can only imagine she’s alluding to the rampant rumors that the Lady was born with functioning male parts. I could be wrong though.

Usher did his best Michael Jackson impersonation. Everyone is complaining that artists today lack originality in their craft. It’s one thing to draw inspiration from a legend like Michael, but it’s another thing to copy his every move night after night.

I really thought Chelsea Handler was SUPER offensive! First, in the opening she had the little “joke skit” where several black rappers were smacking her on the but while she walked down the hall. Then she takes off running after seeing three black men in the hallway….THEN she jokes that she was backstage getting high with Snoop Dog (THEN says “an angry black man; what else is new?”)…THEN she says, “let’s talk about the big black elephant in the room: where’s Kanye”!?

What the HECK! It was too much and in rapid succession (I should mention this all took place within the first 8 minutes of her show!)

Anyway, liked (no LOOOOOOVEED) Eminem! Rihanna was cool, too.
Kanye took ownership of his issues with his song.
Taylor’s song was actually about forgiving Kanye and not seeing that incident as his whole being.
Usher was cool…looked a little winded, though, lol.

I thought the VMA’s were good for the most part but the Will I Am and Nicki Minaj performance was just silly. This is coming from a real Nicki fan. It was horrible though. Nicki is not a good dancer, and the animated, contorted faces were disturbing.

Overall this was the worst VMAs that I have ever seen. I was so mad I wasted that time out of my life. Mercifully I fell asleep during the commercial break right before Kanye’s performance. I hate to see my girl Rihanna going out like that. It was bad enough when she dyed the short weave ketchup red. With it long her fab is totally on pause for the moment.

I’m through with Usher. I hope his white fans can sustain him. How dare he come out there and sing TWO techno songs. There was not one R&B performance on the main stage all night. I’m just too through.

Chelsea was not as entertaining as she usually is.. I think she shouldv’e just came with what felt natural, she came off as trying to hard.

Oh my gosh they had her in the most unflattering dresses…The fit on the outfits where horrible, they made per look bloated and aged, like she was somebody’s momma still trying to get her club on. Unfortunately she has not aged well (I believe she is only in her 30’s)so they could have at least had her dressing fly. The BET awards where better then MTV this year. Oh and I’m really vexed about that upside down cross…:nono:

Dis-likes~ The show seemed short, where were artist like Monica, Fantasia, Ludacris, Keri Hilson,Alicia Keys and that is just to name a few. Usher need to hit the gym or something cause his stamina is a little low. I see why Rhianna may be falling off, she really did nothing special.

Likes – Chelsea Handler (though some of here comments were a little much), Taylor Swift- her song was really sweet, LOVE Mary J. she ripped it!, Hopefully now Kanye can put his mistakes behing him cause we all fall short sometimes.

Oh and Jay-z was doing a concert in NY cause that is why Eminem had to leave right after he performed. Isn’t he always doing a concert in NY??? DANG….Not sure about Bey tho….

He’s been more emo than edgy as of late and I don’t really care for it; she can’t sing (she has a voice takes the enamel off my teeth) and I cherry Kool-Aid hair looked much better short.

Taylor & Kanye:
She looked cute but she can’t sing worth a damn either; I think Kanye was talking about himself too. Hopefully these two performances will put this overblown mess to rest at last.

Lady GaGa:
I like her music and think she has a beautiful voice but I really wish she would cut back on the theatrics and let her genuine talent stand on its own more often.

Usher:

a) Chelsea also had Lindsey Lohan smack her on the a$$ (but clearly you omitted that part in order to make it a racist act)

b)She took off running because everyone had been hitting her on her a$$ and with each smack, the joke was that it was getting more and more painful and when the three black dudes started looking at her a$$, what I saw was her running from a smack from some HUGE brothers – not her running because she thought they were going to take her purse (or cookies) Not to mention the fact that the running joke on her show is that she loves her some black men and she flirts with all the rappers (check 50’s Tweet from last week about her)

c)Isn’t SNOOP the one who makes it common knowledge that he prefers weed over bacon and eggs? Why is it an issue for someone to joke about it? It’s not like he doesn’t do interviews high as f*ck.

In Kanye’s song- why is the only thing people are mentioning is the chorus? Was I the only one that actually listened to the rest of the lyrics? He took complete responsibility and the verse gave meaning to the chorus that wasn’t narcasistic. Kanye killed it and it took a lot of courage to perform that song.
