If you have lost a loved one to Alzheimer’s disease, you can win a chance to attend a private luncheon this weekend given by T.I. and Tiny for their Alzheimer’s foundation.

Just email me with your story at sandra @ sandrarose.com (remove the spaces).

Two winners will be selected on Friday (Oct. 1). Winners may bring one guest each. Please do not enter this contest if you do not live in the Atlanta area and are unable to attend.

My father is struggling with this terrible disease. If I lived in Atlanta I would definitely try to attend. I do donate to the cure though here in my hometown. I wouldn’t wish this on any family to go through. It is so hard watching your loved ones go through it..

Lady_L my grandmother and her mother both had/have Alzheimer’s.

It is. My great granny had it. I didn’t know the name when I was younger though. She couldn’t remember my name. She died when she was 104 so she lived a good life

My great aunt suffers from Alzheimers and I went to see her when I went home for Labor Day so sad She lived in the city I went to college in so she would always cook for me and I stayed with her one summer while in summer school.

104? That is a wonderful life. My great granny walked away (she was 83)…and we never found her. :/

@AuntSan “if you do not live in the Atlanta area and are unable to attend” are not one and the same you should have said OR. One day you’ll see that some of your readers will buy a plane ticket to collect a winning. Post a disclaimer sayimg that we have to bear the expense of our own travel and lodging or whatever, but to exlcude us on adress alone is discriminatory.

My dad is suffering from Alzheimers now. I hate going to visit him because I am afraid he may not know me. I wish I was in Atlanta for the event.

My gma died at 91 and still had her right mind but her sister is 90 and was hit with the disease. I I have my gmas brain genes

My best friend is terrified she will have it because her grandparents on both sides of her family died of it and 2 aunts. That’s waaay scary. I think she worries all the time too.

I have a non-profit organization and would love to make a contribution, but since it’s a private event…. Can’t help…. Hope they raise a lot of money for this terrible disease. I know that if I was trying to raise money for a good cause it would not be private but open for all that want to contribute, that’s how you raise money and get support.

It is a terrible disease. It really does break the heart of a loved one who has to witness it. Shortly before my granny pased away she did not recgonize me nor my daughter who I named after her daughter. To anyone who has seen what this disease does/or are going through it, May GOD continue to bless all of you. Patience really is the key. We also have to remember that the primary caregive also needs a break.

I really had no idea that so many African American’s were stricken with this disease..I figured it was really a YT people’s disease til I saw Tiny’s pops. It is truly sad tho…

I have lost 3 family members, a step great grandfather and 2 twin great uncles, won’t be able to go regardless but this is a good cause

It is a good cause, but I aint feeding Tiny and TI’s drug habit or helping them pay for their cars.

Hey Sandy,

Such a long story but I will keep it short……I don’t speak much on here. Only when spoken needs to be spoken. Alzheimers run deeply in my family and I pray the disease can be broken as it gets down to our younger generation. I have learned something that can help prevent it 9 (light weight) just…….Read…..just READ. That can really help. I read a lot. Reading makes the mind move in a special way. Mind stays busy. It seems to attack the women in my family tho. Non-of our men in my family died of it. Just my great (women). But I will definately love to support Tiny and T.I. on this journey. I really need to know more about this and can contribute a lot of what I’ve learned through, grandma-sitting, the things she said in the beginning that can give us signs…..things to be aware of….. etc. I’m crazy in love about my grand people and I’ll do anything to help honor their past and their ambitions. Even If I’m not the winner. I just want to honor in their name. People are not around like them anymore. And I’ve learned from the best.

You would be surprised how many people enter contests just to see if they win and they have no intentions of attending. That happens a lot.

The flyer says it is a private event. But I spoke with Tiny’s family members last night and they said it is open to the public.

Thanks for doing this Sandra. My grandmother was in the early stages of alzheimers when she passed away 5 years ago. I won’t be entering the contest, not in Atlanta and just had major surgery, but good luck to those who can attend. Thanks again Sandra.

It is so great to see people doing things like this. My Grandfather had it and I think my Mom is showing early signs of it. I am trying to get her to go and get checked but she is in denial. I am going to have to get my Aunts to help me force her to go.

Also my fiance’s Granny has it. Some of her family was in denial about her having it even though the evidence was there (Forgetting where she stayed, getting lost while driving, etc) they didn’t get her help early and now she is having some bad days. I wish people would consider how much their loved one’s can be helped if they pay attention and acknowledge some things.

Auntie Sandra it seems that people aren’t reading the contest directions again just like the Takers contest. Here we go again…. The directions says email her your story not post it on here. Also Tiny just posted it on Twitter the tickets are $100 each so yeah its always open to the public but most of the public cant afford $100 ticket cuz its a recession. But then again people pay for what they want to pay for,right?
