On the Set: Flo-Rida Music Video

Those of you who listen to Flo-Rida’s music probably know what video he was shooting in Miami yesterday. I’m just shaking my head at the low budget video vixens. What’s up with the proliferation of tats and hoe stamps in our community? I can understand the dumb rappers marking their bodies up, but the chicks are doing it too?

Do these young ladies realize they look like their little siblings scribbled all over them with magic markers? Do they know they look low class and trashy, or do they just not care?

Burn victim who claimed a black woman threw acid in her face admits hoax

After launching an intense manhunt for a crazed black woman who threw acid in a Vancouver woman’s face, police announced the “victim” admitted she made the whole thing up.

“She is extremely upset and very remorseful,” said police Cmdr. Marla Schuman. “In many ways, this just got bigger than she expected.”

“It seems clear to everyone that we have a person here who is in a fragile mental state,” she added.

Bethany Storro’s story made worldwide headlines after she reported an apparently random acid attack on Aug. 30. Storro told police a black woman carrying a styrofoam cup approached her as she was getting into her car, and said, “Hey, pretty girl, want something to drink?”

When she declined, Storro said the woman threw a caustic substance from the cup into her face. Storro was treated for 2nd degree burns to her face. Days later she bravely held a press conference in the hospital with her face swathed in bandages, and her parents by her side.

Storro credited her last minute decision to wear sunglasses with saving her eyesight.

But it was that small detail that left investigators baffled: the attack allegedly occurred at 7:40 at night.

Detectives said they began to suspect a hoax after other aspects of the case just didn’t add up. For instance, investigators looked at the splash pattern of the acid, and the fact that the acid didn’t run down her neck.

The case turned when Storro’s story continued to change. On Thursday, Vancouver police served a search warrant on the residence where Storro was staying. They declined to say what they recovered inside the home.

The alleged race of the attacker sparked a barrage of racist comments on newspaper message boards all over the country. Some message boards were shut down due to the violent content of the comments.

Police don’t believe Storro’s parents knew the attack was a hoax. But they should have informed police that their daughter had a history of mental problems.

“They’ve been fully cooperative with us today,” Schuman said.

Clark County Senior Deputy Prosecutor John Fairgrieve said once their investigation is complete the case will go to the prosecutor. Charges could include making a false or misleading statement to a police officer, a gross misdemeanor that’s punishable by a maximum of one year in jail and a $5,000 fine.

Storro’s mental health will be taken into consideration, Fairgrieve said.

Monica Responds…

I don’t spend a lot of time on Twitter.com. So I had no idea that my friend, R&B Diva Monica, responded to my earlier post on her Twitter page.

I only became aware of Mo’s tweets when one of her family members called me on the phone saying I “baited Monica” with my post.

First of all, anyone with eyes can see how much Monica cherishes, loves and cares for her children. I posted that email in response to a dare, not because I was baiting Mo.

There was no need for Mo to respond because her steps are ordered and she is living her life accordingly.

White House Slams Forbes for Accusing Barack Obama of Being Antibusiness and Anti-American

The White House has lashed out at a Forbes magazine cover story that accuses US president Barack Obama of having his father’s “Kenyan, anti-colonial” world view.

“It’s a stunning thing, to see a publication you would see in a dentist’s office, so lacking in truth and fact,” huffed White House spokesman Robert Gibbs.

On Thursday Gibbs met with Forbes’s Washington bureau chief, Brian Wingfield to express his concerns with the cover story. The spokesman asked Wingfield to “convey to [Forbes NY office] my question of what their plan is to correct the many factual errors that I and others have pointed out about the cover story.”

But Dinesh D’Souza, the author of the Forbes cover piece, contends that he merely gave his opinion on the way Obama thinks.

D’Souza, who loosely based the article on his forthcoming book, “The Roots of Obama’s Rage,” insists “the idea that Obama has roots that are foreign is not an allegation, it’s a statement of fact.”

D’Souza’s article begins by calling Obama “the most antibusiness president in a generation, perhaps in American history.”

He then ties Obama’s policies to his father, Barack Obama Sr.’s, way of thinking, “He took his father’s dream, his vision, his ideology,” D’Souza says in the interview. “Clearly the anti-colonial ideology of Barack Obama Sr. goes a long way to explain the actions and policies of his son in the Oval Office. … The invisible father provides the inspiration.”

But according to Gibbs, D’Souza accuses Obama of adopting his late father’s philosophy of weakening America and the West by draining America’s financial resources to empower other countries.

For example, D’Souza writes that the Export-Import Bank, “with Obama’s backing,” last year offered $2 billion in loans and guarantees to Brazil to explore for oil that he says would remain in Brazil.

In a press release, the publication stated, “No facts are in contention. Forbes stands by the story.”
