Medical Minute: Narcissistic Stare
Here’s an interesting video a loyal reader just sent me. It was filmed the other day during a Trey Songz promo stop at 100.3 The Beat in Philly.
Ladies, study the above picture of Trey Songz well. This is what many in the psych field refer to as a Narcissistic Stare.
Trey Songz is a narcissist who is used to people around him stroking his enormous, yet fragile ego. He became incensed when the DJ told him he wasn’t feeling his reality show.
This news should not have come as a surprise to Trey since his show was a ratings disaster for BET.
But what I want you to watch is the transformation that comes over Trey’s face as it suddenly dawns on him that someone in the room isn’t awestruck by his fake charm.
Watch as Trey ceases whatever he was doing to focus intently on the enemy in the room who dares to criticize him.
Anyone who has ever dealt with a narcissist will recognize the Narcissistic Stare. It is unmistakable and it is one of the hallmarks of narcissism. Another hallmark is the narcissist’s inability to take constructive criticism in any shape or form.
You can almost see the horns growing out of Trey’s scalp as he struggles with his inability to handle criticism.
Pat Finley of the Controlling Selfish Men blog explains the Narcissistic Stare better than I can:
The narcissistic stare has been experienced by many of us who have had the misfortune to associate with Ns [Narcissists]. Presumably, not every N does The Stare but from all reports, a significant majority does. The N’s stare is piercing, unwavering, reptilian. Seemingly flattering, this stare is unnerving – and is meant to be unnerving.
The Ns look right through you. A woman who is not familiar with Ns might think he is simply paying complete and rapt attention to her but he is not. The Ns are staring at you to see how vulnerable you are. Some believe that the Ns use their stare to look through you to your soul for the sole purpose of determining whether you are viable prey or not.
Once you are in a relationship with an N, they stare at you in order to control you. Their withering glare is meant to cow you into submission. It is a strong woman indeed who does not back down under the malevolent narcissistic stare.

Legendary pop singer Janet Jackson and her billionaire boyfriend Wissam Al Mana went for a walk together after having lunch in New York City yesterday. Janet’s delusional ex, Jermaine dupri, is somewhere eating his heart out and still refusing to face reality that they are no longer together.
I am told that the real reason Janet dumped JD is because she was tired of footing all the bills for his broke azz. Janet wanted a real man who had his own coins. It is not cute for a man to let his woman pay for everything just because she can.

Warren Buffet says young people could learn from Jay Z, a former drug dealer
Steve Forbes of Forbes magazine recently coordinated a sit-down meeting with legendary billionaire investor Warren Buffett and former drug dealer-turned-rapper Jay Z in Omaha.
The meeting was part of the Forbes 400 Summit, and Forbes’ goal was to pick the brains of the two men to expose the secrets of their rise to success.
The cover piece describes Jay Z’s most recent chess move: buying his last album back from Def Jam so he, and only he, could reap the profits from the sales.
Big deal. He’s not the only rapper to buy his masters.
Jay-Z revealed that his last album, “The Blueprint 3,” which included the multi-platinum single “Empire State of Mind,” wasn’t originally set for release on his current Roc Nation imprint.
“The year I went over to create Roc Nation with Live Nation, I still had one album left to make with Def Jam. L.A. Reid, the chairman of Def Jam at the time, did a great thing for me. He allowed me to walk in and have the conversation with [chairman of parent company Universal Music Group] Doug Morris,” Jay said.
“I had to walk into Doug’s office the next day and buy an album back that might leak the next day…But it was worth it, you know. I was heading in a different direction and needed that freedom. It was a great decision for the company. They got some money. And a great decision for me.” [link]
The most interesting statement to come out of this incongruous meeting is 80-year-old Buffett’s musing that young people could “learn from” Jay Z — a former drug dealer who continues to glorify his criminal past.
“Jay is teaching in a lot bigger classroom than I’ll ever teach in,” Buffett said. “They’re going to learn from somebody. For a young person growing up he’s the guy to learn from.”
So Jay Z is a teacher now? This 40-year-old man who can’t even pull his pants up is teaching the youth of America? Please don’t make me laugh. Has Warren Buffet even listened to Jay Z’s music?
I respect Buffett’s business acumen, but he is clearly out of touch — and misinformed — when it comes to Hip Hop and it’s negative effects on the youth of America.
Jay Z may be the most prosperous and prominent rapper on the scene today. And he’s certainly smart enough to know when to put on a well-tailored suit and speak with near perfect grammar in mixed company.
But Jay Z is no role model or teacher. What he is is a great con artist.
If Jay Z really wanted to influence the youth of today in a positive manner, he could start by pulling his pants up.

The undated video, which was posted on YouTube today, was filmed in a classroom setting. Robinson and Flagg talk about girls and making it rain, while tossing $5 bills into the air.
Both men filed separate lawsuits in DeKalb county on Tuesday alleging sexual abuse and fiduciary misconduct on the part of mega-church leader Bishop Eddie Long.
Robinson tripped my GayDar several times, although those could have been false readings based on the low res quality of the video.
Selita Ebanks is back on the market; denies dating Kanye
Socialite and sometime model Selita Ebanks denies dating troubled rapper/producer Kanye West.
Of course we knew this all along, but Ebanks has finally spoken out about the rumors that she is dating West, who is humorously referred to in some circles as a “gay fish.”
Model and former Nick Cannon boo thang Selita Ebanks has denied gettin’ cozy with rapper Kanye West. Ebanks, (who was also linked to Maxwell some months ago), and West were snapped sitting next to each other at the U.S. Open and at this week’s New Yorkers for Children Benefit Gala.
Despite Kanye referring to Selita as his ‘muse,’ Ebanks set the record straight regarding herself and Mr. West.
“I’m just happy that he’s a great friend. I love his creativity. I love that he thinks outside the box,” she continued. “He’s just himself. Not only am I a fan, I support him 100%.” Read more
