fanMAIL: Can V-103 be the People’s Station, and still be biased?

*Loyal reader Barbie Jones writes:

It’s time for Frank Ski to resign.

He’s too emotionally invested in the scandal that is the Bishop Eddie Long/New Birth Missionary Baptist Church lawsuit.

He, Nina Brown, and everyone else are entitled to their opinion, but the “People’s Station” cannot be used for their biased lecturing.

Frank Ski admitted that he was biased in this instance.

Remember someone named Carol Blackman? When controversy courted her too closely, she was gone from the Morning Show.

The Morning Show is bigger than one or two people. Frank has demonstrated today that he is biased, troubled, and worried all for Bishop Eddie Long.

He’s not shown concern for the youths, yet he is a purported “child advocate.” It’s a horrible stance that he’s chosen to take, so publicly and so adamantly.

While the details of the case are made known, and while the legal wheels are turning, Mr. Ski needs to recuse himself.

What about the youth? What about the good of the community versus standing in blind faith for wrong?

Frank Ski has a dog in this fight. As such, he needs to do his “shot calling” from another podium.
Let the People’s Station return to honor.

Here’s a suggestion: Ryan Cameron and _____in Morning!

I assure you that I’m not alone in my thinking and a petition will be in the works.

Happy Birthday LisaRaye McCoy!

Actress LisaRaye was spotted leaving the Anastasia Salon in Beverly Hills yesterday. LisaRaye had her nails and eyebrows done in preparation for her birthday bash tonight at a secret location in Atlanta.

LisaRaye, famously known for her portrayal of “Diamond” in the movie The Players Club, turned 43 today.

I’ll be there tonight. LisaRaye’s birthday bash is so private that the location won’t be revealed to party guests until 30 minutes before the doors open. Even LisaRaye’s beautiful daughter Kai doesn’t know where the party will be.

Speaking of Kai, she reached out to Sandrarose.com last night to share this heartfelt birthday message to her mom with my readers. Wasn’t that nice of her?

Here it is:

LisaRaye’s family & friends: Quincy, Stacy, Trev, Tena, Jevon and diamond the dog also send their love and birthday wishes!

Bishop Eddie Long’s Attorney Addresses Muscle Shirt Pics

New photos have surfaced showing troubled New Birth Pastor Bishop Eddie Long posing in a bathroom mirror wearing tight muscle shirts and bicycle shorts. The photos were first aired by ABC News yesterday evening.

The cell phone pictures are of the variety that men send to women they are crushing on.

The married father of four allegedly sent the undated pics via text message to the three young men named in separate sexual harassment lawsuits filed against him.

On Tuesday Anthony Flagg, 21, and Maurice Robinson, 20, of DeKalb County (pictured left), filed lawsuits against Long and his ministry, alleging sexual coercion and fiduciary misconduct.

Robinson was charged with theft in June after he and another man broke into Long’s office and stole Long’s iPhone and iPad, among other items.

Some have speculated that the men broke into Long’s office in search of evidence (such as pictures and text messages) to be used in their impending lawsuits against him.

Long was scheduled to address the sex scandal on local radio shows this morning, but he canceled his appearances after a 3rd lawsuit was filed yesterday by Jamal Pariss, 23, a former member of New Birth who claims Long made him call him “daddy.”

Long also canceled a press conference which was scheduled for later today.

Long’s attorney, Craig Gillen, read a brief statement from Long on the air this morning on The Tom Joyner Morning show on Kiss 104.1 and The Frank & Wanda Morning Show on V-103.

He said Long would address the scandal this coming Sunday during the 11 a.m. service at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church at 6400 Woodrow Road in Lithonia.

In addition to “categorically” denying the allegations against his client, Gillen stammered out an explanation of the cell phone “muscle shirt” pictures that are sweeping the Internet and blog sites:

“The photos don’t corroborate these charges. [Bishop Long] is a health advocate, he’s a weight lifter. Uh, he’s a fella, you know, who’s gonna go to work and he’s gonna have on a muscle shirt. And he’s gon’, you know, he may show up in church, uh, you know, in a muscle shirt. And… I know sure enough he can come, he comes down to my office in a muscle shirt. So, uh, you know, uh, there’s nothing really in those photographs that seems to me, uh, in any way that, uh, is uh, corroborative of, uh, of these allegations.

3rd Man Files Lawsuit Against Bishop Eddie Long

According to online reports, a third man has come forward to file a sexual abuse lawsuit against Bishop Eddie Long, the pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church.

The plaintiff, identified as Jamal Paris, is represented by Attorney B.J. Bernstein, the same attorney representing the first two men who came forward accusing the Atlanta-area megachurch pastor of coercing them into a sexual relationship.

The latest lawsuit filed on behalf of Paris contains similar complaints against the bishop, said Bernstein. In the suit, Paris details how Long allegedly gave him his personal cell phone number two weeks after they first met. Paris also alleged that Long encouraged him to call him daddy. According to the suit, Paris’ father had not been a positive figure in his life.

In the suit, Paris said he later became Long’s personal assistant, and that Long would ask him to remain in his private office after church, where Long allegedly engaged in sexual misconduct with Paris.

On Tuesday two other young men, Anthony Flagg, 21, and Maurice Robinson, 20, of DeKalb County (pictured left), filed lawsuits against Long and his ministry, alleging sexual coercion.

“Long shared a bedroom and engaged in intimate sexual contact with plaintiff Flagg including kissing, massaging, masturbating of plaintiff Flagg by defendant Long and oral sexual contact,” the suit says.

Long took Robinson to Auckland, New Zealand, in October 2008 for his 19th birthday and engaged in oral sex with him, Robinson’s suit alleges.

On June 23rd, police arrested Robinson and another man, Anthony Boyd, 19, and charged them with burglarizing New Birth Church on June 13.

“Maurice (Robinson) immediately told what he did when he was confronted about it. He returned the black diamonds, the gold, the things that he had in the bishop’s office,” Bernstein said.

A statement released by Craig Gillen, attorney for Long, said, “Bishop Eddie Long adamantly denies the allegations. It is unfortunate that the two young men have chosen to take this course of action. We are reviewing the complaints and will respond accordingly.”

Celebs Out & About: Kanye West, Selita Ebanks, Keith Bullock

Troubled rapper Kanye West and his Muse Selita Ebanks attended the 2010 New Yorkers For Children Fall Gala at Cipriani 42nd Street in NYC last night. Kanye’s reps continue to insist the couple are “just friends,” but Kanye is doing his best to put forward the notion that there is more than just air between them.

We’ve been through this song and dance before, back in 2008 when rumors cropped up that they were dating.

LA Reid and The Dream Are Still Employees of Def Jam (for now)

Word on la calle is that Island Records honcho LA Reid and singer/songwriter/label exec The Dream are out at Def Jam.

I heard this rumor over the weekend, and after stifling a yawn I moved on with my life. Who really cares? Isn’t this the 200th time we’ve heard this rumor? I’m beginning to think Reid himself is putting out these rumors to keep his name on everyone’s lips.

Anyway, my nephew Sam over at ThatGrapeJuice says the rumors are not true:

Reports have been swirling today that Island Def Jam CEO, Antonio ‘L.A.’ Reid, had been fired from his post by the heads of the Universal Music Group. However, XXL magazine has received word from an official representative of the label who confirms that the rumours “are completely untrue and without merit”.

Reid, who became the head of IDJ in 2004, is credited for signing Mariah Carey, Young Jeezy, Justin Bieber and OutKast to the label. However, the music mogul received severe criticism from industry pundits after the underwhelming performances of Rihanna and Carey’s most recent studio albums as well as for adding rapper Shyne and Jennifer Lopez to the label’s lineup.
