In Case You Missed It: 2010 BET Hip Hop Awards
A lot of people have an opinion of this year’s BET Hip Hop Awards, which aired last night. The awards took place in Atlanta’s Civic Center 2 weeks ago. Even before the first award was handed out, calls, texts and tweets were sent out by those in attendance complaining about everything from the budget (‘there was none this year’), the host, Mike Epps (‘he was weak’), the schizophrenic ravings of Nicki Minaj, and more.
Even my dentist, Dr. Joe Wolf, called me to voice his opinion on the lack of talent, creativity or originality with today’s Hip Hop artists. “Is it the music industry [that's garbage], or the artists themselves?” he wondered aloud.
Personally, I thought the Cypher features were the best parts of the show. My favorite line was delivered by rapper Royce Da 5’9:
“The day I stop dropping the hotness will be the day I start driving a Datsun with 50 Tyson and Antoine Dodson.”

After Kelly and Nelly presented I turned the damn TV. That was 15 minutes into the broadcast. I saw only 10 celebrities in the front row and tons of local rachet seat fillers. I heard tickets were going for $10. Hated it!

Someone needed to slap Wacka with his own damn camera chain for that dumb azz idea of a performance. Was he serious so he truly thought that would be effective on TV and at an awards

Mike Epps is NOT funny. How he let the Dougie boys treat him when he was supposed to be roasting him.
All of the performances were wack. I love BMF though. Rick Ross shyt is tight. I take that back, I like that BOB stayed true to himself.
The cyphers were the best part of the show. Most of them were pretty good saves Cubic Zircornic. The GOOD Music and Father and Son cypher was hot as was dude with that belt in the first cypher, Mickey someone in the Busta one, Royce just SHYTTED on everyone else in his cypher. I wish Joe Budden was in his. They are really slept on.

thing is as bad as you may think the BET awards are they are the biggest awards dedicated exclusively to hiphop. and if you dont watch them they cant sell to advertisers and get any better. if they not getting the advertising money then they cant put more money into the show and thus it either gets completely canceled or the quality never improves. even if you watch it just to make fun of what you see you are still watching it and thus increase the chances of it getting better next year and them getting the big dogs such as Jay, Kanye, Eminem to perform as they see it as something important in hiphop and not just a lil show nobody watches.
