Celebs Out & About: Halle Berry, Olivier Martinez, Kim Kardashian

The Internet is buzzing about a drunk woman tossing a drink on Kim Kardashian at a NYC club last night. Of course we knew it was staged even before TMZ put the pics up.

Here’s what TMZ had to say:

The Kardashian clan was at Juliet last night, when a male fan asked for a pic with Kim. His girlfriend flew off the handle and threw a drink at Kim.

Scott Disick and Khloe jumped into the fracas and in the scuffle, Khloe’s ring flew off and skidded across the floor. Our spies inside the club say Khloe literally dove across the floor to retrieve it … which she eventually did.

Maybe poor Scott wasn’t let in on the secret that it was just a stunt?

Actors Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez visited a photo exhibit at Marcelita French Boutique on 3rd St. in Los Angeles yesterday, to see artist Harry Abbo’s New Photo Exhibit of children in India. I guess they really are dating? Too bad it won’t last. Unfortunately, Halle Berry has a history of failed relationships with what she perceives to be “perfect” men who she hopes will complete her. This need to find herself leads her to look for love with the wrong types of men. She needs to find herself an ugly man who will cherish the ground she walks on. Right, ladies? (Photo compilation)

Celeb Style: Rihanna in Altuzarra Sweater and Matt Kemp in Rag & Bone Fedora

Within an hour after putting up this post yesterday of Rihanna wearing a gorgeous cream colored outfit, I received 3 emails from readers asking me to identify the designer.

I had no clue, but I knew that Allen over at UpscaleHype would:

Pop star Rihanna was seen out in Paris wearing a Altuzarra Keyhole Sweater ($875) in peach. This wool boatneck sweater features a keyhole cut-out and ribbed detailing at collar, cuffs, and hem. Her beau Matt Kemp is also seen wearing a Rag & Bone fedora ($140) in brown canvas.

Allen forgot to mention Matt’s sneakers were Lanvin high-top cap toe sneakers ($730).

Bill Clinton Gives $500K to Sean Penn for Haiti (not to Wyclef)

According to online reports, former president Bill Clinton gave $500,000 to actor and humanitarian Sean Penn for Haiti for continued earthquake relief efforts.

It’s important to note that Clinton didn’t even consider giving that money to singer Wyclef Jean who has proven himself to be an opportunist.

The Clinton Foundation gave $500,000 to Penn’s charity, J/P Haitian Relief Organisation.

The donated money will be used to provide bridge funding for a camp in Petionville, which is run by the organisation.

Penn, 50, told People.com: ‘The support of President Clinton and the Clinton Foundation is an extraordinary boost in our organisation’s ability to continue its work in Haiti. [link]

Former presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush were among the first dignitaries to visit Haiti after the earthquake.

“From the beginning the Clinton Foundation staff and leadership have generously shared expertise and essential logistical support,” said Penn who spent 6 months helping out in a refugee camp.

Meanwhile, Wyclef, who failed at his attempt to get his hands on Haiti’s money as its president, is off somewhere making music videos and faking hospital visits for attention.

Obama Does Something Right: Vetoes Foreclosure Bill

Yesterday, U.S. President Barack Obama vetoed a controversial foreclosure bill that would have benefited big banks and corporations.

Obama’s refusal to sign the bill into law resonated with critics because they say the bill would have made it easier for banks to evict homeowners who fell behind on their loans.

As a result of Obama’s audacious decision, Bank of America today halted foreclosures and evictions in all 50 states.

“We will stop foreclosure sales until our assessment has been satisfactorily completed,” company spokesman Dan Frahm said in a statement. “Our ongoing assessment shows the basis for our past foreclosure decisions is accurate.” [link]

Critics of the foreclosure bill say there is evidence that mortgage company employees and/or their lawyers used illegal tactics to sign documents in foreclosure cases, resulting in increased evictions.

State and federal officials have put pressure on the mortgage industry over worries about potential legal violations. Also Friday, PNC Financial Services Group Inc. announced it would stop foreclosures and evictions in 23 states for a month.

PNC and Bank of America join Ally Financial’s GMAC Mortgage unit and JPMorgan Chase & Co. in halting foreclosures and evictions.

It might seem like such a small thing to be merciful and kind to others. But Obama, and big banks in particular, seem to have trouble finding compassion in their hearts for families who face foreclosures.

I guess all it took was for voters to threaten Hope and Change in November?

Hopefully the benevolence of bankers — who get so much and give so little — will carry over to next month.

Obama, MTV Screens Out ‘Ugly People’ for Town Hall Meeting

According to Politico.com‘s columnist Ben Smith, MTV, BET and CMT are casting the audience for a town hall meeting with President Obama in Washington, D.C. next week.

The casting form, which can be found on this website, lists the qualifications for audience members.

While all the networks mentioned are seeking males & females, 18+ — only MTV requests a recent photo of potential audience members.

Seeking—Audience Members: males & females, 18+.

To apply, email townhallaudience@mtvnmix.com and put “Town Hall” in the subject line. To ensure that the audience represents diverse interests and political views, include your name, phone number, hometown, school attending, your job and what issues, if any, you are interested in or passionate about. Also, provide a recent photo and short description of your political views. Submission deadline: Oct. 14. No pay.

Ben Smith theorizes that MTV (and Obama) prefer an audience made up of pretty people who reflect MTV’s “Teen Spirit” idealism.

But I’ll take his theory a step further and say that MTV (and Obama) are seeking to control not only the ‘look’ of the audience, but the number of blacks in it also.

Kelly McAndrew, a spokeswoman for Viacom, which owns MTV, denies that MTV is screening out ugly people, blacks or Republicans from Obama’s Town Hall meeting.

“We’re just trying to get the broadest, most diverse audience possible,” she said. “We want to have divergent points of view – we’re not looking for a single-view audience.”

“We’re going to have a very diverse looking audience,” McAndrew said. “We want gender diversity, we want ethnicity diversity, we want religious diversity, we want political view diversity. We want diversity of all kinds.”

I’d be interested to know how many black applicants are turned down based on their photos.

Miami Police Department Website Portrays Jay-Z As Gangbanger

It seems that no one at the Miami Dade Police Department reads Forbes magazine. If they did they would have immediately recognized one of the men on the cover, quarter-of-a-billionaire rap mogul Jay Z, as the gang banger illustrated on the front page of their website.

Once word began to spread, the police quickly removed the graphics, according to Miami New Times. There was no comment or explanation forthcoming from the police, according to Karen Civil.

Of course the Miami Dade Police knew who Jay Z was. We’re sure they deliberately used his images to portray a gang banger, because after all, didn’t Warren Buffet say the children can learn from Jay Z? Doesn’t Jigga continue to glorify his former drug dealing lifestyle in his songs?

This goes to prove that it doesn’t matter how many zeros Jay Z has in his portfolio, or how many Armani suits he has hanging in his closet, he will always be just another gang banger to law enforcement.
