Throwback Wednesdays: Cherrelle – Affair
In 1988, bad girl singer Cherrelle, who was R&B singer Pebbles’ cousin, dropped her 5th single “Affair” off her third album of the same title.
“Affair” became an instant dance hit and peaked at #4 on the charts. The vinyl 45 record was snatched up by single ladies everywhere off the strength of self assured lyrics like this: “I don’t need commitment/ I don’t need no man to tell me how to feel”

Celebs Out & About: Rihanna and Matt Kemp in London
Pop star Rihanna stepped out with her fiance, baseball star Matt Kemp, in London yesterday. The couple were immediately rushed by RiRi’s fans outside their London hotel. Rihanna was accommodating and cheerful as fans asked her to take pics and to sign everything from teddy bears to their own skin.
Rihanna complimented her beautiful floral skirt outfit with Christian Louboutin pumps, while her man sported a $1,095 pair of Christian Louboutin Louis Flat Spike Sneakers. I think it’s cute that Rihanna and Matt both share a fondness for the same high end designers.

In Case You Missed It: Real Housewife of Atlanta’s Phaedra Parks at home
In case you missed the season 3 opener of Real Housewives of Atlanta, Hulu.com has a bunch of videos up. They had the full episode this morning, but of course Bravo made them take it down.
Speaking of Bravo, my inside contact in the production company tells me that Bravo will forego spending anything resembling a budget on promoting this vehicle of self-obsession.
For starters, Bravo has already signed off on this flop — and I hear there won’t be a season 4. You probably didn’t even know that season 3 was premiering last night, did you? Well now you know why.
Another reason may be due to the fact that there is no real drama on the show — other than the badly scripted cat fights between Dwight and NeNe Leakes, whose horrible acting is apparent from the moon.
The season opener introduced us to 2 new cast members (Lisa Wu Hartwell was booted for being too boring), Atlanta celebrity attorney Phaedra Parks and socialite Cynthia Bailey.
You already know Phaedra from the drama involving her ex-con husband, Apollo Nida, whom she married straight out of the slammer.
In this video showcasing her Atlanta home, Phaedra portrays herself to be a sort of bootleg Southern belle. She comes off looking unbelievably fake. In one scene, Phaedra says she can’t show us the contents of her refrigerator because there is only leftover pizza that her husband brought home.
Speaking of Apollo: did he pay for the pizza or did she? Does Apollo have a job to speak of, or is it his job to look pretty and make you women jealous of her like Ed Hartwell did for Lisa Wu last season?
Is Phaedra supporting Apollo just like these desperate Atlanta women who allow lazy, no good men to leach off of them because they lack self esteem? So many questions.
Phaedra’s husband is a career criminal who has never held a real job in his life. So it will be interesting to see what she says he does for a living on the show.

Usher Explains the Drama Behind His divorce from Tameka Foster
I realize this is old to some of you, but I’m just now seeing it. VIBE magazine put a ruggedly handsome R&B crooner Usher on their cover this month. He looks like he just stepped out of a scene of Top Gun, the movie.
Usher told VIBE that he began contemplating divorcing the older Tameka Foster after she started nagging him about not defending her enough in public.
Tameka, a classic narcissist, was painfully aware of her poor image in the eyes of the public. She tried to exert control over everyone, including Usher and the bloggers who dared to type a negative word about her.
She constantly berated Usher publicly and privately for not standing up to the bloggers. She personally called bloggers at home and made subtle threats such as “I don’t know what Usher is going to do when he sees you out“.
Here is what Usher had to say when he finally opened his eyes and saw that he was being manipulated by a psycho:
“During our disagreements, that’s when I really began to contemplate marriage and if this is someone whom I’m compatible with. Anytime we had a disagreement or an argument, I began to contemplate: Wow, is this really gonna work out? I’m going through hell right now, given the fact that people have an opinion about our relationship. I can’t be unhappy at home and fighting the wars or the opinions outside… ‘You should’ve handled things this way,’ ‘I wish you would’ve said this,’ ‘You’re handling me wrong,’ ‘I don’t like the way I’m feeling about this’—it could be anything, man.”

High school football team allows player with Down Syndrome to score a touchdown
This is so touching. I teared up a little watching this video. The Lake Stevens Vikings allowed the Snohomish Panthers’ player Ike Ditzenberger, who has Down’s Syndrome, score a touchdown. This was not a scrimmage game, this was an actual regulation high school football game.
Watch how the players on the opposing team deliberately miss tackles so the kid can score. It’s amazing how unselfish and compassionate kids can be when they are raised right. I hope you show this video to your kids when you get home from work today.
Celebs Out & About: Kanye West, Rihanna; Khloe Kardashian might be pregnant
They’re saying reality TV personality Khloe Kardashian might be pregnant with NBA star Lemar Odom’s baby. She attempted to hide her baby bump with a baggy sweater and one of her sister Kim Kardashian’s Hermes bags in New York City today. I realize you don’t care, but Khloe has emerged to be the star of her family. The reason for that is, mainstream soccer moms can more readily identify with Khloe than they can with her plastic sister Kim.

Speaking of plastic, troubled producer Kanye West was spotted filming scenes for reality tv show ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ with Kim Kardashian and her sister Kourtney Kardashian. Besides the fact that he can be a jerk, Kanye has great personal style. More brothas should dress like Kanye West and less like Jay Z. They would attract a better grade of groupies.
