Throwback Wednesdays: Cherrelle – Affair

In 1988, bad girl singer Cherrelle, who was R&B singer Pebbles’ cousin, dropped her 5th single “Affair” off her third album of the same title.

“Affair” became an instant dance hit and peaked at #4 on the charts. The vinyl 45 record was snatched up by single ladies everywhere off the strength of self assured lyrics like this: “I don’t need commitment/ I don’t need no man to tell me how to feel”

Check out the funky dance moves by the redhead in this video. I had every move down pat in 1988!

    I’m like WHERE WHERE (thinking he was lying). After the ceremony we were walking out and then towards her. So she’s like Hey, how are you xyz. Hubby is like yeah, I’m good and you? This is my wife Shauny. This bish looked like her heart stopped. She’s like (voice cracking) wife..oh, nice to meet you.

    When we walked away I’m like that bish looked like she’s going to go to her car and cry looking out the window singing Vesta…Congratulations, I thought it would’ve been me. It was hilarious!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    You ain’t NEVER lyin’! Back in Chicago in the early 90′s there was this shameful a$$ style where brothers were wearing the Morris Day hairstyle… cut real low with small, small curls in the back and then feathered in the front.
    I went to my mom’s office when I went home to visit a few years back and she had the nerve to have that $hit at her desk with me sittin’ in a wicker chair!! What the hell?!?!!?
    I had met all the people in her office and was feelin’ so good because the ladies were sayin’, “OMG, Pat – your son is so handsome!” then when I realized that they had all seen that picture of me lookin’ like a fake a$$ Anita Baker, I was mortified and too shame to walk past all of them on my way out.
    I left with frame and the photo and dropped them both in the trash at McDonald’s. LMAO!
