Usher Emulates Sammy Davis Jr. On Cover of Ebony
Usher gets points for this artful recreation of a Sammy Davis Jr. pose on the cover of the current Ebony magazine to celebrate their 65th anniversary.
The R&B crooner is enjoying renewed success with his album Raymond vs. Raymond, which scanned 1,103,546 copies sold to date.
Usher is seen rocking a crisp blue suit reminiscent of the suits Davis wore in the 60s. The suit was designed by Martin Margiela.
Davis died at age 64 of throat cancer in 1990.

Nice but is this what all the magazine’s are going to do from now on? Get current artists to emmulate other artist’s covers??? I believe Ebony just did this with MJB and an old Diana Ross cover.

No this is a special edition Ebony did marking their anniversary they have several artist emulating different covers they did like Taraj is doing Dihann Carroll and other artist its a very good spread that Ebony did I suggest ppl look at it.

I’m loving these covers. I saw the one with Mary emulating Diana Ross, she looked great, but personally (and as much as I hate to admit it) I think Solange would have done a great Diana.
I really hope they bring Ebony magazine out of the slumps, because I thought I’d kill myself if I saw ONE more “Hollywood’s Hottest Couples” issue where they put anybody they ever saw in a picture together and called them a “hot” couple! I could just see them sitting around a conference room table shouting out names, “Will & Jada!… Vivica & Slim… Gayle and Oprah!… Ashanti & Nelly?… Put em on there, if they break up by the 1st, we’ll replace them with Neffe &…. “
When my dad is drunk he always tells the story of how I got my name. He says before I was born he was in the waiting room and there were 2 magazines ( ebony, & sports illustrated swimsuit edition) he says he picked up the ebony magazine and as soon as he started reading it, it was time for him to go in the delivery room. Than he says after my mom had me she didn’t know what to name me and he saw the magazine in the room and said “what about ebony”. He said he was so close to picking up the sports illustrated swimsuit edition and I’m lucky I wasn’t named that. I know he’s lying and I hate when he tells this story

I am happy Sammy is gettin a lil shine I really wish they would do a good worthwhile movie on him. He had more drama than a lil bit. Usher did a good job however Mary’s cover was beautiful.
