New Music: J. Cole – In The Morning, featuring Drake

If J. Cole and Drake are the future of Hip Hop then Hip Hop has a bleak future. Drake tweeted about jumping on J. Cole’s “In The Morning” track off his ‘Friday Night Lights’ mixtape which drops today. I go hard on Drake but I love his music. That’s why this track is disappointing. What happened to Drake’s lyrical swag? Doesn’t he hear his fans pleas for him to stop singing?

Even rapper Sagon says Drake’s buzz is dying:

“And no disrespect. I love Drake, but I don’t think too many people are really anticipating his next album like crazy. Like, you almost know what you’re gonna expect from him: the love songs, singing. He makes great music, but you never know with those guys. The thing is, [Lil] Wayne is the Madonna of rap. He reinvents himself every two years, that’s why Wayne’s been around for so long. People be thinking he’s a new artist a lot. Wayne is a vet. Wayne got like 14 years in the game.” (VIBE)

Why is Saigon being allowed to speak at all? His career has been trying to take off for like 5 years. He reminds me of Remy Ma except with waaaay less shine. I was watching seasons 5 and 6 of Entourage recently and wondered what the hell happened to him. He has disappeared off the face of the earth. Hell, where did you even find that quote?

drake spoke on this song before it even hit the public. he said this wasnt suppose to be the lyrical exercise that basically the internet geeks was dreaming of when they think of a collab between the 2. he said they wanted to do something about girls and thats the product of it. he said on one of their albums you will probably get the lyrical mashup. cole is the more lyrical of the 2 but drake will always get more shine because of the singing aspect of him.

Drake sounds too much like Lil Wayne to me. Before Drake signed with Young Money, I loved him. Now, not so much. I actually prefer him singing.

its funny when people say drake sound like wayne i think drake influences wayne sound more than the other way around. wayne just puts your triple the amount of music so it may seem different. i actually enjoy thank me later much more after i didnt listen to it awhile then revisited when i was on a flight one day and its actually a pretty solid album a little more singing than i would like but i cant say i hate any of the singing songs.
